Chapter Nineteen: Ma Liang Secretly Helps

"If you trust me, don't go out alone."

Li Fanghua felt sad whenever she recalled those two female educated youths.

They were from the same group of educated youth. One of them had a fiancé in the city. Her coming to the countryside was just a formality, and she would be taken back by her family in less than six months.

They simply assumed the people here were too simple and kind, forgetting that the saying "bad people come from poor and remote places" is not just a saying; some people's evil is ingrained in their bones, they are born bad.

The naive girls paid the price for it. One got married and had to work in the fields to earn work points even when she was nine months pregnant. The other was beaten every day, became more and more introverted and quiet, and became so thin that she was almost skin and bones.

Gu Zuozuo pulled Meng Tianqi Meng, whose expression had turned serious, in front of her, speaking in a stern tone.

"Starting tomorrow, you'll learn self-defense from me. If you can't get up in the morning, then it'll be in the evening. No refusing!"

They came to the countryside with her. If it weren't for their own sake, given their circumstances, they would have chosen to stay in their own province instead of coming to this remote place with her.

Since they came with her, I must bring them all back safely. Aunt Meng and Aunt Qi have been very good to the original owner, and I cannot let them down.

Meng Tian and Qi Meng, who had been quite serious, both wore bitter expressions. They hadn't expected that while they had managed to avoid their father and brother's training at home, they couldn't escape their own sisters' self-defense techniques.

However, the two of them knew what was good for them and didn't refuse. They just clung to one of her arms, still wanting to eat the milk fruit. Only when Gu Zuozuo nodded did they let go of her, and then chattered on about how delicious the milk fruit was.

A faint smile appeared on Gu Zuozuo's lips, her eyes slightly curved. She was paying close attention to the two people talking, with three-tenths of her attention focused on the captain's impassioned speech.

Suddenly, a sticky, disgusting gaze fixed on her. Gu Zuozuo frowned uncomfortably and looked in the direction of the gaze.

A man with a kind face and dark reddish skin stared intently at her. The meaning in his eyes made Gu Zuozuo's fingers twitch, and she subconsciously wanted to make a move.

"Zuo Zuo, what are you looking at?"

Qi Meng called out twice but received no response. Turning her head, she saw Gu Zuozuo looking at something. Just as she was about to turn her head to look as well, Gu Zuozuo pressed her head down and turned it back.

"Don't look around, listen carefully to what the captain is saying."

Ignoring the gaze that was still scrutinizing her, Gu Zuozuo suppressed her nausea and her fingers twitched uncontrollably, causing tiny specks of powder to fall.

Unaware that he was constantly teetering on the brink of death, Ma San suppressed his excitement, his eyes fixed on the graceful, fair-skinned woman, his mind already racing with ideas on how to get his hands on her.

He had seen his two older brothers' wives bathing, and neither of them combined were as beautiful as the educated youth he had his eye on. Not only was she beautiful, but she was also dazzlingly fair-skinned, and just looking at her gave him a surge of desire.

The remaining women at the educated youth settlement were either dark-skinned or thin, and he didn't find any of them attractive. Unexpectedly, the three new female educated youths were all so beautiful. He immediately took a liking to the most beautiful one among them, and his underlings could choose the other two.

Ma San swallowed hard, a determined glint in his eyes.

“The stump family, you take three female educated youths and be in charge of harvesting that piece of land in the south. Teach them how to do it properly.”
