Chapter 12 I and Mr. Liang Dewen Died Here
The people at the educated youth settlement are doubly happy today.
A serving of snake meat soup.
A serving of rabbit soup.
Even if you only get a piece of meat the size of a toothpick and a sip of soup, it's still like celebrating the New Year.
Only Yin Wenying was unhappy.
Especially when they came back in the evening and had dinner together, Yin Xiaoyin conveyed the village chief's message to everyone, asking them to help with the literacy campaign.
The village chief's solemn words made many of the educated youth look serious. They had been in the countryside for so long that they had forgotten about studying.
When they were studying, they also harbored hopes for the future...
But now, it is gradually disappearing.
Yin Wenying didn't share their feelings; she just subconsciously said with "good intentions," "Yinyin, everyone is exhausted after a day of farm work, and they may not have the energy. You can't make things difficult for everyone just because you're trying to please the village chief."
Such thoughtful words would have won the approval of countless educated youth in the past.
Before Yin Xiaoyin arrived, Yin Wenying, though she had only been in the countryside for a short time, was beautiful, gentle, and hardworking, which won her the favor of many people.
Not to mention that many male educated youths or villagers liked her, even the elders seemed very willing to have such a daughter-in-law.
The lucky and beloved female lead naturally receives pampering wherever she goes.
Yin Xiaoyin met Yin Wenying's eyes. She was there to serve as a comparison for the female lead, so she didn't care about her image. She patted the table with a slightly spoiled attitude: "Anyway, the village chief said so, and I've already relayed it. Let's all think it over tonight."
She grew impatient and stopped dawdling, burying her head in her own gruel.
I had some biscuits and dates for lunch, but they weren't very filling after all the hard work. I needed more noodles to keep me full.
The world is vast, but even a robot eating is the biggest event.
I thought there wouldn't be any answers tonight, but to my surprise, Ji Yueyan finished swallowing and was the first to raise her hand and say, "I do."
Liang Lei was the oldest and longest-serving among these educated youths, and could be considered the elder brother of the group. Everyone always respected him greatly.
He thought for a moment, then stood up and shared his thoughts.
“I’m willing too. When we go to the countryside, we’re rooted in the farmers. We don’t know anything about farming, so the villagers taught us little by little. Now that the time has finally come for us to be useful, how can we back down? So what if there are difficulties? We have to overcome them.”
His impassioned words further excited the educated youth who were already thrilled by Yin Xiaoyin's relay of the village chief's words.
"Xiaoyin, we're all willing."
"Comrade Yin Wenying, the difficulties you mentioned are indeed real, but we can overcome them!"
What else could Yin Wenying say but go against the entire educated youth settlement?
She could only manage a forced smile.
"Since everyone has no objections, of course I support it too!"
It also had a playful ending tone.
Yin Xiaoyin almost choked on her mouthful of paste, and Ji Yueyan quickly patted her back to calm her down: "Okay, I'll talk to her tomorrow."
"Everyone has had a long day, so let's eat and get some rest."
Liang Lei waved his hand, bringing the conversation to a close.
After finishing her meal, Yin Xiaoyin quickly tidied up and lay down on the bed. She patted her head, placed her hands on her lower abdomen, closed her eyes, and moved her lips slightly, as if she were saying something.
Upon closer listening, it should be: "I'm asleep, I'm asleep..."
Yin Xiaoyin said that this is the fastest way for humans to fall asleep.
Ji Yueyan, who was following behind Yin Xiaoyin, was dumbfounded by Yin Xiaoyin's smooth and efficient operation.
He scratched his head: "Are you that tired?"
I rubbed my sore neck and shoulders and collapsed onto the bed.
Yin Xiaoyin was really angry about her dream last night, so she wanted to fall asleep quickly tonight. She didn't know if she would dream about that man again. But she was going to try.
Fortunately, she succeeded.
Most dreams are bizarre and fantastical. When many people wake up, they know they were dreaming, but they can't remember the content of the dream. If they try to investigate it carefully, it's all a mystery.
But Yin Xiaoyin was different. She was not bothered by this at all. She could perfectly replicate the content of her dreams, even any single frame of the scene.
Yin Xiaoyin saw that man again.
It was still a hotel room.
From what that person said last time, I think his surname is Xu, Xu, Xu? I'm not sure, after all, Chinese accents are not easy for foreigners to distinguish.
I still can't make out his facial features clearly.
Yin Xiaoyin ignored all of that. Her body floated lightly around the man: "Hey, hey, hey, are you listening to me and asking me to speak?"
She put her hands to her mouth like megaphones and shouted loudly.
The man didn't even look up; he sat upright, holding a pen and steadily writing three words.
"Xu Qingyan".
Yin Xiaoyin tilted her head. The man shouldn't be able to hear her, otherwise, how could he not react at all when she spoke so loudly?
She simply sat down to see what he was writing.
The girl propped her chin up on her hand, standing to the left and right of the man, both their eyes fixed on the paper.
The man's hands were long and fair, each stroke flowing gracefully, carrying his own unique character.
Yin Xiaoyin was a little envious. Her own handwriting was neat and tidy, each character looking like a copy and paste. It looked nice, but it lacked liveliness and fun.
but……
The more I look...
Her expression grew increasingly serious.
Those are timelines.
Year after year, month after month.
“In September 1969, I was sent to the Pollution Research Institute to work because I did not cooperate with the research. I met Mr. Liang Dewen again. On the 18th, in order to save you and others who were also deprived of your freedom, and to stop the machinery from continuing to work, Mr. Liang Dewen and I died here.”
The final stroke was incredibly sharp.
Yin Xiaoyin's gaze fell straight on the last line of words. For some reason, a tear fell and left a mark on the snow-white paper.
This made Xu Qingyan, who had already sorted out her thoughts and was preparing to put the papers away and burn them, subconsciously look up at the roof.
He murmured to himself, "Is it leaking?"
He had already lit the paper with a lighter and threw it into the iron basin to watch it burn to ashes.
Yin Xiaoyin had come to her senses and stared at him intently, asking, "This happened several years in the future. How could you have written this event, which hasn't even happened yet, into your biography?"
Where is my uncle now? Is he alright?
Unfortunately, she didn't get an answer.
All she could see was Xu Qingyan mockingly burning a few more books, even pulling down the curtains nearby, waiting for them to catch fire and create smoke...
The man opened the hotel room door he had locked from the inside: "I accidentally burned a few books and it caught fire. Get me a different room."
He looked completely calm and composed, and spoke with self-righteousness.
"You two, take Mr. Xu to another room to rest."
"The rest of you, go put out the fire."
The guard at the door quickly gave the order, looking at Xu Qingyan with a dangerous gaze and a hint of displeasure.
Yin Xiaoyin only had time to hear this sentence.
Then I was pulled out of the dream.
