Chapter 17 Bamboo Poles

Kim Sung-in, the male protagonist of the original text, has a name with very cultural connotations, because his grandfather was a landlord in the old times and had studied abroad in Japan. So when naming him, he naturally could not use a name that contained words like "Liberation" or "Founding of the Country".

After all, the male protagonist is tall and handsome, and everyone outside the team knows him. However, because of his poor family background, he has never married. Recently, in order to earn work points, he went to dig coal in the coal mine in the back mountain.

He was not as handsome as Meng Yuanzheng, but he was a sunny and handsome type. He was cheerful and optimistic, and came over with a smile.

"Hello, Secretary, Zhu Zhiqing, and Miaoyin. We'll be leaving first."

The secretary nodded and said, "Go ahead."

"Zhu Zhiqing, where is your luggage? Let me help you move it." Jin Chengren said.

Zhu Wanqin's expression was a little cold, and he forced a smile, "It's under the big tree over there. Thank you, comrade."

"It's just a small thing, so don't thank me." Jin Chengren said with a smile.

After the two left, Lin Miaoyin came back and found Meng Yuanzheng leaning against a tree in a daze.

"Let's go home."

Meng Yuanzheng opened his eyes and glanced in the direction of the crowd. He saw Jin Chengren carrying Zhu Wanqin's suitcase in one hand and a bedding roll in the other, with her big bag on his back, while Zhu Wanqin was carrying a net bag.

"Let's go."

"Let's have meat at noon. The weather is bad and it will go bad if we don't eat now." Lin Miaoyin walked with her hands behind her back, kicking pebbles.

"Um."

"What do you want to eat? How about twice-cooked pork?"

"Can."

You are really frugal with words, she curled her lips.

After returning home, Meng Yuanzheng went to the well to get the meat. Lin Miaoyin kneaded the dough and started to prepare the seasonings.

The meat was taken, cut in half and washed, and the rest was salted and placed deep in the cupboard.

First, blanch the whole pork in cold water, then take it out and cut it into slices.

Then cut the pickles into thin pieces, and cut some twigs, heat the pan until red, pour the fat in, add a little of the bean paste that Lin's mother gave you, stir-fry until red oil comes out, then add the lean meat and pickles, and stir-fry over high heat.

The fire that Meng Yuanzheng lit was very much to her liking, big or small as she wanted.

Finally, add the eryi tiao, salt and soy sauce, stir-fry and serve.

Then I made a pot of noodles and put it on the table.

Although we had eaten meat yesterday, there was not much snake meat, and we gave half of it to the Lin family, so we still didn’t feel satisfied. Today is the first day for us to eat meat.

For fear of being discovered, Lin Miaoyin closed the courtyard door and the door of the room, and the two of them ate hard in the dark room.

The pickles fried in fat and the spicy taste of Erjingtiao were very appetizing, and the meat was fragrant. It was fat but not greasy, and lean but not dry. The two of them ate everything in the bowl clean, and even made pickles into whistles to mix with noodles.

It's really exciting, the feeling of eating meat secretly.

Meng Yuanzheng even gave all the lean meat to her and ate the fat and pork belly himself.

After eating and drinking, Lin Miaoyin slumped on the stool and didn't want to move. Meng Yuanzheng stood up to collect the bowls.

"Hey, what are your plans for the future?" she asked, touching her belly.

"Let's take it one step at a time."

"This meat is so delicious. Don't you want to eat it every day?" She stared at the empty bowl with a nostalgic look and licked her lips.

"You just ate and you're hungry again?" Meng Yuanzheng glanced at her, smiled slightly, picked up the bowl and walked towards the kitchen. Lin Miaoyin followed him and said, "I want to eat every day."

"But we don't have that much money. The meat on the black market is expensive and the supply is limited." Meng Yuanzheng sat down and lit a fire to boil water for washing dishes.

Lin Miaoyin added water to the pot and said, "Where did you get the meat that day?"

"have no idea."

"Didn't you ask a few questions? I'll buy it next time."

If they knew the market price of meat, it would be easier for them to buy meat in the future. And she actually wanted to open a breeding farm.

"I'll take care of the meat issue. You don't have to worry about it. I'll make sure you can eat it once a week." Meng Yuanzheng said in a deep voice.

Lin Miaoyin was so amused by his words that she didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Stop it. If you keep doing this, it won't be long before all your stuff is sold out."

The two were washing dishes when Lin Miaoyin suddenly had an idea, "I've thought of a way to make money!"

"Um?"

Meng Yuanzheng was holding wood ash in his hand and smearing it on the bowl. He looked at her when he heard this.

"I just have an idea. I'll tell you when I've made up my mind." She kept it a secret on purpose.

Meng Yuanzheng did not ask any further questions and washed the dishes very calmly. Lin Miaoyin held the fire tongs and remembered something else, which was the review meeting between him and Zhang Hui.

Regarding these two people, the team's handling was that Meng Yuanzheng and Zhang Hui made public self-criticisms, and Zhang Hui was also given a serious warning because she pushed Lin Miaoyin into the pond, and she will not be included in future awards and honors.

Regarding the matter raised by Zhang Hui about Lin Miaoyin beating someone, no one cared what she said and she could only suffer in silence.

"In three days, it will be your self-criticism meeting." She counted on her fingers.

Meng Yuanzheng paused, "What are you reviewing?"

That's right, he forgot what he did.

Lin Miaoyin kindly reminded him, "I found out that you and a young girl were doing that, and then everyone knew about it, and then she pushed me into the pond."

"Which what?" Meng Yuanzheng looked unhappy.

"It's just flirting, don't be nervous, it's nothing serious." She smiled.

"Okay, then let me reflect on it." Meng Yuanzheng lowered his head and continued washing the dishes.

"It's no big deal, right? Just go up and admit your mistake. I'm here, so they won't dare throw rotten vegetable leaves at you," she comforted him.

"Um."

"Well... okay." She put down the fire tongs and saw that the sun was strong outside, which was perfect for drying the quilts. Thinking of the smelly sheets and pillowcases that she had slept on for several days, she made a prompt decision to wash the sheets today.

"Let's wash the sheets and quilt covers and replace them with clean ones later." She stood up, dusted herself off, went back to the room and started to take off the sheets, quilt covers and pillowcases. She then went to find a large basin, stuffed everything in it, and got Meng Yuanzheng's soap.

Meng Yuanzheng had finished washing the dishes and fetched water from the well, quickly filling a basin with water.

She squatted on the ground and began to scrub. "Go get some bamboo poles to use as tripods to hang them up later."

But she immediately felt that Meng Yuanzheng would not be able to do it, "Let me do it, you wash it."

"No, I can do it. When you need to clean it later, ask me to fetch water." As he spoke, he walked to the back of the house.

More than ten minutes had passed after she finished washing her hair, and Meng Yuanzheng had not come back yet. She couldn't help but get up and go to the back of the house to check, but saw Meng Yuanzheng with his head down and his back to her.

"What are you doing?" She walked over quickly.

Meng Yuanzheng retracted his hand, as if he was frightened. She looked carefully and saw that there was a lot of blood on Meng Yuanzheng's hand, the hatchet was placed aside, and some bamboo sticks were scattered on the ground. Wow, how did this man cut himself?

"Why didn't you tell me you were hurt? Let me see." She glared at him, grabbed his hand and took a look. The wound was not big, just some broken skin.

She threw his hand away in disgust, "It's just a little skin, no big deal."

Meng Yuanzheng pursed his lips and said nothing. Suddenly he bent down, grabbed the hatchet and started chopping the bamboo poles.

"Hey, stop cutting. Doesn't it hurt?" Lin Miaoyin stopped him.

"It's just a little skin, no big deal," he replied.

The author has something to say: Meng Yuanzheng: I was injured and she still asked me to chop bamboo. She doesn’t love me at all!
