Chapter 124 Chen Ji, don't hit me!

The old lady jumped to her feet. "Really?"

Cheng Dan nodded with a smile, "Grandma, it's true. We were supposed to get the results tomorrow, but I went to them and got them ahead of schedule."

Tang Wan and Chen Zheng exchanged a glance. They roughly knew that they were there to check and confirm.

I greeted Cheng Dan when I ran into her at the hospital this morning, but who would have thought she would go and get the test results without my permission?

The old lady beckoned to Tang Wan, "Eldest granddaughter-in-law, come here, come to Grandma."

When the old lady got excited, Xu Ruantang's first reaction was to go see Chen Ji.

Unfortunately, he had a cold expression all day, and it was still the same now; nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

"What's wrong?" Chen Ji asked in a low voice, "Do you want some water?"

Xu Ruantang shook her head and lowered her eyes, lost in thought.

When it was time to leave, the godmother wanted to stay, but the old lady pulled her away.

"With your back like that, what good will it do if you stay? You'll be staying with me at home for the next couple of days. Oh, and bring the baby with you too."

The old lady's mind was racing with calculations. She arranged for everyone to leave, saying, "Chen Ji, you stay and take care of things. We two old folks will come and relieve you during the day."

Xu Ruantang stood up, supporting her arm. "Grandma, I don't need to stay with you. It's just my left arm that's injured. It won't affect anything. I can manage on my own."

No one listened to her. The group was about to leave in a hurry when Xiao Bao suddenly cried.

She cried and lunged forward, trying to find Xu Ruantang.

Chen Ji took the child from Chen Zheng's arms. "Han Li will be leaving soon. Tell him to take the child back later."

Xu Hanli was just worried about not finding an opportunity to show off, so he quickly replied, "Yes, yes, I'll leave in a bit, Grandma, you all go back first."

Li Shuhe also stayed behind. Xiao Bao sat on the hospital bed playing with the three adults, while Chen Ji was busy with something.

When he returned, the three adults and one child were all beaming with joy.

"Xiao Bao, call me 'Mommy' again." Li Shuhe poked Xiao Bao's little belly.

Xiao Bao looked at Xu Ruantang, "Mama...Mama..."

"Hey! Mommy's here, you're such a good boy!"

Xu Ruantang laughed so hard her eyes were almost invisible, and she and Xiao Bao were singing in unison.

This was the scene Chen Ji had always wanted to see, but now he couldn't feel happy.

Xu Ruantang noticed this and, thinking he was still angry, didn't say anything more.

The driver was still downstairs. Li Shuhe and Xu Hanli didn't stay long before they took the child and went back to the compound.

In the ward, only Chen Ji and Xu Ruantang remained.

This is a three-person room; the other two beds are still unoccupied, and it's unclear whether this was intentional.

Chen Ji didn't say anything, but silently helped her get her medicine and water.

Thinking about Tang Wan's pregnancy, Xu Ruantang roughly understood why he was unhappy. He wasn't angry because of her, but because of the news.

Xu Ruantang didn't know she liked Chen Ji before, and she just watched him being sad because of other women. Now, she feels a bittersweet feeling in her heart.

She simply lay down on the hospital bed and closed her eyes to rest.

Out of sight, out of mind!

She couldn't sleep at all. After a while, she felt a weight on her body. Chen Ji was covering her with a blanket.

Xu Ruantang was also feeling bad, and didn't even open her eyes.

Chen Jigai was very careful, afraid of touching her injured arm again. But he had only covered it for a short while when Xu Ruantang kicked it off.

After this happened two or three times, Chen Ji finally realized that she was doing it on purpose.

"Xu Ruantang." Chen Ji picked up a stool and sat down by the hospital bed. "I know you're not asleep. If you can't sleep, then don't."

Xu Ruantang remained silent.

"If you want to sleep, I'll cover you with the blanket again."

Xu Ruantang pretended not to hear.

The blanket was pulled up again, and she sat up abruptly. "In this sweltering heat, Chen Ji, are you trying to kill me with heat?"

Chen Ji was stunned for a moment.

"You're the one who said you're afraid of the cold."

Chen Ji stopped using a blanket at home because it was hot. He wanted to change Xu Ruantang's blanket to a towel, but she refused.

She said she was afraid of the cold because the temperature was low at night.

Chen Ji thought she was throwing a tantrum because of the pain. So he moved a stool over and sat down next to her.

He then propped up a pillow behind her, saying, "Come on, if you don't want to sleep, lean here. I've borrowed a book; I'll read it to you."

Xu Ruantang would rather Chen Ji treat her worse.

He's just too considerate, like a central air conditioner. His exterior is as cold as a snow-capped mountain peak, but inside he's as volcanic as a mountain.

She gradually fell for him, without even realizing how much she liked Chen Ji.

Xu Ruantang leaned against the bed, and Chen Jizhen held a book and began to tell her a story.

His voice was warm and deep, like a gentle stream. He held a book with his long, slender fingers and sat upright.

She didn't hear a word he said, her gaze fixed on his handsome profile.

She used to be the only one who watched others fall in love but couldn't have them, and laughed at them for being foolish.

Indeed, the world is a giant boomerang, and now it's stuck in her.

As Xu Ruantang thought this, she turned to look at the door, which was closed. It was probably closed by Chen Ji because people were coming and going in the corridor while she was sleeping, so he didn't want to disturb her.

Having this thought, Xu Ruantang almost laughed at herself.

They didn't say anything, and you're just making things up in your head.

Even if he is good to her, it is because of the upbringing and manners that Chen Ji has cultivated since childhood. If he can be good to her, he can be good to others.

Xu Ruantang suddenly got out of bed, stood next to Chen Ji, and glanced at Chen Ji who was sitting.

Chen Ji had already put down his book and turned to look at her. Not knowing what she was going to do, he waited quietly.

"Chen Ji, don't hit me."

After Xu Ruantang finished speaking, she used her uninjured right hand to pull up Chen Ji's collar and leaned down to kiss him.
