Chen Ji agreed almost without hesitation.
The two adults and one child set off after breakfast. Xiao Bao sat in the middle of the motorcycle, and Xu Ruantang even bought her a little hat.
Because of the child, Chen Ji controlled the car's speed, and Xiao Bao would occasionally shout excitedly.
The photo shoot went smoothly, and Xiao Bao surprisingly smiled at the camera.
The photos were in color, some of Xiao Bao alone, and some of the three of them. In the end, Chen Ji said something to the photographer, and Xu Ruantang was pulled by him to take a photo of just the two of them.
I've paid the money, but I have to wait a week to pick it up.
Before the sun got too scorching, the family of three went to the park for a boat ride.
Xu Ruantang originally wanted to ride a pedal boat, but the manager said that children like Xiaobao were too young and could not ride on them; they could only ride the large cruise ship.
After they finished riding the large cruise ship, Chen Ji watched the mother and daughter ride the carousel.
After a few rounds, Xiao Bao's little face was rosy, and he was clearly in a good mood. He drank water very enthusiastically, gulping down half a bottle of water in no time.
After eating out, the three of them went to a department store and bought several summer dresses for Xiaobao, as well as milk powder, malted milk powder, and canned fruit.
Xiao Bao got sleepy from playing and fell fast asleep on Chen Ji's shoulder.
The two then took the child back to Gao Baoliang's courtyard and delivered the things they had bought there as well.
When Gao Baoliang was at home on the weekend, he saw Chen Jixian and instinctively stood at attention and saluted. Then he tried to take Xiaobao from Chen Jixian's arms.
"No need, I'll put the bed where it is."
The child was sleeping soundly, so Xu Ruantang and Chen Ji didn't linger. It was very hot outside, so the two returned to the compound.
Chen Ji bought her an ice cream, but as Xu Ruantang ate it, she realized something was wrong.
Back home, she handed the barely-eaten popsicle to Chen Ji and rushed into the bathroom.
When she came out, her forehead was covered in a fine layer of sweat, and she clutched her stomach as she walked upstairs.
"What's wrong? Stomach pain?" Chen Ji frowned, remembering what the doctor had said about her having superficial gastritis.
Xu Ruantang shook her head. "Menstruation."
She glanced longingly at the ice cream, "You eat it, I'm going upstairs to take a nap."
When Xu Ruantang woke up from her nap, she checked the time and it was four o'clock in the afternoon.
The house was quiet, and she assumed Chen Ji had gone to the army. She opened the door to go downstairs, only to find movement coming from the study.
Chen Ji obviously heard the noise too, and stood up from his desk to go downstairs with her.
Xu Hanli gave Chen Ji a color TV as a wedding gift. The first time she turned it on, it played an old movie, a romance.
Xu Ruantang watched with great interest.
Chen Ji went into the kitchen and came out carrying a bowl.
"Brown sugar water?" Xu Ruantang asked, looking at the contents of the bowl.
Chen Ji nodded slightly, "Yes, Aunt Liu said that drinking it can relieve discomfort."
Xu Ruantang's eyes widened. "You went to see Aunt Liu while I was sleeping?"
So he made this bowl of brown sugar water after asking Aunt Liu for advice.
It's supposed to be brown sugar water, but it also contains small glutinous rice balls and fermented rice, with a few small red dates and goji berries floating in it.
People of that era believed that brown sugar was a highly nutritious food.
Xu Ruantang didn't like the taste of brown sugar; it was too sweet.
"Wait, it's a little hot." Chen Jimei looked serious as he stirred the food with a spoon, scooped up a spoonful, blew on it, and then brought it to her lips. "Try it."
Xu Ruantang's mouth was dry, so she opened her mouth and took a sip.
She was prepared for a cloyingly sweet taste to overwhelm her throat, but to her surprise, it was slightly sweet and sour, and she could even taste the fermented rice grains. It was unexpectedly delicious.
Xu Ruantang took the bowl, and the two sat in the main room watching TV. Before she knew it, the bowl was gone.
During this time, she also fed Chen Ji a few bites, and he obediently opened his mouth and ate them.
She fed Chen Ji foods that she didn't like, such as goji berries and red dates.
Chen Ji knew exactly what she was thinking, but he didn't say anything.
The more she watched the old movie, the more engrossed she became. Xu Ruantang, who had been sitting upright, shrank back as her stomach felt a bit cold.
Chen Ji took the fan down and placed it behind him. Noticing her unusual behavior, Chen Ji let her lean on his shoulder and placed his large hand on her lower abdomen through her clothes.
You know what, men's body temperature is just higher.
When Xu Ruantang got her period, the feeling of her stomach sinking into an ice cave was instantly relieved.
The two snuggled together and watched the movie until it got dark.
Just as Xu Ruantang was about to get up, Chen Ji pulled her into his arms and asked softly, "Wife, were you angry last night?"
He should have dealt with her anger last night.
If it weren't for special circumstances, he wouldn't want her to go to bed angry.
"Yeah, I'm really angry." Xu Ruantang also wanted to find an opportunity to talk to him, so she simply said it directly: "Chen Ji, you should know that a thousand yuan is a lot of money that many people can't save even if they don't eat or drink for a year."
Besides, your money, apart from allowances and mission bonuses, is all earned with your life; it shouldn't be wasted carelessly.
Xu Ruantang simply got up, sat on Chen Ji's lap, and looked at him, saying, "I know you're angry that I didn't borrow money from you, but I really didn't mean to. I wasn't thinking about buying it at that time, and I definitely wouldn't buy it at the price of five thousand. I was waiting for her to lower the price."
Sister Juan said that four thousand is the highest price for a house, and it's not easy to sell. She told me to wait a bit longer; if the landlord can't sell it, they'll be willing to lower the price.
"Also, if you want to buy a courtyard for four thousand, then that proves I have the ability to come up with that money." Xu Ruantang sighed. "Li Shuhe overheard it by accident, and I don't plan to borrow money from her."
“You always tell me to trust you, so shouldn’t you try to trust me in the future?” Xu Ruantang wrapped her arms around his neck, “instead of punishing me by making me feel the loss of the house being sold.”
