Chapter 219 A Vampire-like Family

"Okay." Xu Ruantang smiled, her gaze lingering on Chen Ji's neck. Her outstretched hand paused. "You..."

She walked over and rubbed the red mark above Chen Ji's collarbone with her fingertip. "Was this a mosquito bite? That's strange, you don't usually get bitten."

Xu Ruantang took a closer look and saw that a mosquito bite would normally result in one small bump, but Chen Ji had clearly been bitten by several small bumps at once, which then merged into a large patch after he scratched them.

"It's alright, it'll be over in a few days," Chen Ji said calmly, pulling her mischievous hand away.

Xu Ruantang nodded. "We have some floral water at home. If you're itchy, applying some should help."

When Xu Ruantang arrived at the tailor shop, she almost thought she had gone to the wrong place.

In the sweltering summer heat, a large pile of garbage and debris lay outside, constantly emitting a foul odor.

Laughter filled the room, mixed with the cries of children.

The shop door was closed, but Xu Ruantang suppressed her nausea and went up to knock on the door.

"Who is it?! So early in the morning."

Soon, the sound of the door opening came. Xu Ruantang looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar face, and a strange resentment surged in her heart.

Xu's mother inside the door was also stunned. Even though she had lived with her daughter for twenty years, she couldn't react for a moment because of the drastic changes.

"Mom, who is it? What are you doing?" Footsteps sounded, and another male voice grew closer.

Xu Ruantang was startled when she saw that face.

The young man was of medium to tall height, with a buzz cut, big eyes, double eyelids, and a slightly overweight build.

"Sister?!" The man saw Xu Ruantang and excitedly opened the other half of the door. "Quick, come in."

As he spoke, he nudged Xu's mother, who was standing there dumbfounded, with his elbow. "Mom, what are you standing there for? Let my sister come in and talk to me."

Only then did Xu's mother realize what was happening. Her expression relaxed, and her tone carried a hint of reproach: "You brat, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and go inside!"

Xu's mother cursed inwardly, "Girls really do change a lot as they grow up. Marrying a rich and powerful man has completely changed her."

What used to be a pheasant now really looks like a phoenix.

Xu Ruantang stood at the door without moving, frowning as she asked, "What's with the trash at the door?"

When Xu's mother saw that she had come empty-handed and immediately started picking a fight, her anger, which had been building up inside her, grew stronger and stronger. She was about to point her finger at Xu Ruantang and start cursing.

"Sis, come in first, I'll take care of those things." The slightly chubby man said as he skipped over.

Xu Ruantang stared at his face, unable to recover for a long time.

Seeing this, Xu's mother snorted coldly: "What, you don't even recognize your own brother? Have you really become a city person now, looking down on us country relatives?"

"How did he get so thin?" Xu Ruantang temporarily ignored her mother's sarcastic remarks.

Xu Sheng has changed so much. When she left the Xu family, Xu Sheng was still a fat man weighing over 200 pounds.

Xu Ruantang was so shocked because the thinner Xu Sheng looked exactly like her younger brother before she transmigrated into the book!

When she first transmigrated, she was only conscious for half a day in the Xu family. In addition, Xu Sheng was too fat at that time, and his facial features were squeezed together, so she didn't think the two looked alike at all.

It's most likely just a coincidence.

Upon hearing this, Xu's mother's expression changed, and she glared at her, shouting, "You still know how to ask? You heartless brat, how can you be so cruel? You've been gone for half a year without a single letter, you're such an ingrate! We raised you all these years, and you don't care about our lives at all!"

"You came here just to put on airs and show off?" Xu Ruantang glanced coldly at her mother. "What kind of letter do you want? When you were going to sell your daughter to someone else, did you ever think it would be so heartless? You raised her all these years, and didn't you just sell her for three thousand yuan, just as you wanted?"

Xu Ruantang remained calm and composed, speaking in a very even tone.

Xu's mother looked at Xu Ruantang as if she were a monster, and was so speechless that she couldn't utter a single word.

It wasn't that she couldn't argue, but her daughter, who had always been submissive, had never spoken to her like this before, except for being a little strange after waking up from jumping into the river. She couldn't react for a moment.

After dealing with the trash at the entrance, Xu Sheng quickly ran back.

Seeing the two still standing at the door, Xu Sheng frowned and looked at his mother, his tone full of reproach: "Mom, why did you let my sister stand at the door? It's so hot!"

As he spoke, he turned to Xu Ruantang with a smile and said, "Sister, come in quickly, we're all family, don't be shy."

Upon entering the main room, Xu Ruantang noticed several pieces of clothing lying on the sewing machine, and the fabric she had prepared for her godmother and the others was also piled haphazardly on the floor.

She turned to look at Xu's mother, who was still wearing the sample shirt from the store.

Xu Ruantang walked to the sewing machine, picked up the top garment and looked at it. "This is the fabric for making clothes for customers. You finished making all of it in one night?"

The fabric, clearly designed for women, was altered to make men's shirts.

Judging from the size, it should be made for Xu Sheng and his father. This family is really outgoing.

"You brat, what kind of tone is that? I know this shop is yours. You've come at the right time. I wanted to make some pants for your dad and your brother, but this fabric can't be used. You'd better go and buy some more."

Xu's mother snatched the finished shirt from Xu Ruantang's hands, giving her a disapproving look. "By the way, we haven't eaten yet. Go buy groceries and cook. I sent someone to tell you yesterday, why are you only coming today?"

Xu Ruantang did not answer her mother's question. Instead, she snatched the shirt back and tore it in half with a single stroke.

After tearing it up, she casually threw it on the ground, picked up the clothes on the sewing machine, and tore them all to shreds in no time.

Xu's mother's eyes widened in disbelief. "What...what are you doing?!"

Xu Sheng was also startled by Xu Ruantang's actions, "Sister..."

Xu Ruantang pulled up a chair and sat down in the center of the room. Looking at the mother and son in front of her, she slowly asked, "How did you know this shop was mine?"

Xu's mother was so angry that her hands trembled and her voice shook: "You...you...you unfilial daughter, you ingrate!"

"I'm an ingrate? An unfilial daughter?" Xu Ruantang snorted. "Fine, since you've already condemned me, why should I stay here and be disliked?"

Anyway, if I'm good to you, I'm an unfilial daughter. If I'm bad to you, I'm an ingrate! I won't get anything out of this, so I'm leaving.

After she finished speaking, she stood up and walked outside.

After walking a while, she turned back and said, "By the way, this shop used to be mine, but the owner is my man. He knows I have a vampire-like family, so he sold the yard overnight, and someone will be coming to take the house soon."

Xu Ruantang said calmly, "You'd better leave as soon as possible, otherwise the people in Beijing are not to be trifled with. If you end up being taken to the police station, there's nothing I can do."
