Li Shuhe wasn't the type to act rashly, but this was because the other party was Xu Hanli.
In Li Shuhe's words, it was as if Xu Hanli's face was pressed against her fist.
The kids in the compound were used to falling and getting hurt from a young age, so no one took it seriously.
The main problem is that Xu Hanli is a soldier, and his face is so delicate that you could pinch water out of it. If you bump into him even slightly, he will be covered in bruises.
Li Shuhe scoffed lightly, and considering the injury on his face, she didn't hold it against Xu Hanji.
Let's set off fireworks!
Li Shuhe suggested, then turned around and saw Li Shuyang struggling to carry a box, walking towards the river.
"Xu Hanli, can't you even lift a finger!"
Li Shuhe quickly went over and lifted the other side of the box, saying, "How can you bear to let the neighbor's younger siblings work so hard?"
Xu Hanli casually pulled the foxtail grass out of his mouth, lifted his foot and walked towards the two of them, but instead of helping them, he put his arm around Li Shuyang's shoulder.
Li Shuyang was so pressed down he almost stumbled. "What are you doing?"
"Shuyang, you're too weak."
Xu Hanli spoke slowly, "You don't have a girl you like yet, do you?"
He suddenly asked a question.
Under the cover of night, Li Shuyang's breath hitched, and his eyes paused.
Before Xu Hanli could get a reply, he was kicked in the butt. Li Shuhe didn't hold back at all and kicked him hard.
"If you're not going to help, then get lost."
Li Shuhe and Xu Hanli were laughing and joking when Li Shuyang glanced at her.
She was also somewhat shocked.
I never expected that even now, Li Shuyang still hasn't let go.
Xu Hanli jumped up from the kick, his fair face instantly turning bright red. He clutched his buttocks and cried out in a plaintive voice, "Li Shuhe, you're about to get married, how could you still molest me?!"
"Indecent assault?"
Li Shuhe smirked, "You're dreaming! Get back to work! If I don't see some good fireworks tonight, nobody's going home."
The three of them bickered and teased each other, but eventually managed to set off the fireworks.
As expected, Li Shuhe was not exaggerating.
Commander Li's fireworks are always more beautiful than others', last longer, and explode into larger blooms.
Chen Ji held Xu Ruantang close, standing in the best viewpoint not far away, looking down at her face tenderly.
Xu Ruantang pointed to the sky and exclaimed, "Wow, it's so beautiful!"
Such perfect fireworks can't be seen in cities filled with skyscrapers and concrete jungles.
As soon as the fireworks went off, the three people in the distance found a wishing lantern and beckoned the two of them over.
"Chen Ji, Ruan Tang, come and write down your wishes!"
Li Shuhe shouted at the top of her lungs.
Xu Ruantang shouted back, "Okay, coming!"
Everyone was writing, and Li Shuhe finished first. She covered her hand to prevent others from seeing, and craned her neck to look at Xu Hanli's.
I glanced at it and burst out laughing.
Xu Hanli glanced at her. "Be serious! This is a very serious matter."
Li Shuhe laughed so hard she was bent over, almost rolling on the ground.
Xu Ruantang saw that tears were about to come out of her eyes, and since she didn't know what to write, she leaned over and took a look.
"......."
On the green sky lantern, the crooked, childlike handwriting is so bad it's like a dog's scribbles.
But Xu Hanli looked serious and wrote stroke by stroke: "God, grant me true love!"
Xu Ruantang bit her lip, suppressing her laughter as she walked back to the other side of the jeep.
Chen Ji didn't care at all what Xu Hanli wrote, and he picked up the pen and wrote seriously as well.
His handwriting was the most beautiful Xu Ruantang had ever seen. His handwriting reflected his personality: gentle yet sharp, calm yet unique.
Xu Ruantang walked back to the front of the car and frowned as she looked at the blank red sky lantern.
Even Chen Ji had a wish.
And her?
It seems not.
Perhaps having gotten what they wanted, they dared not hope for more.
Perhaps I wanted too much, and for a moment I didn't know where to begin.
May this happiness stay with her forever, may her family be healthy, and may her friends have a better and better life.
Why aren't you writing?
A wave of warmth washed over her as Chen Ji stood beside her, and the biting cold wind vanished completely.
Xu Ruantang lowered her eyes, "I...I don't know what to write."
She even felt she was being pretentious.
Chen Ji pondered for a moment, "Shall I write it?"
"good!"
Xu Ruantang agreed quickly.
One by one, sky lanterns were lit, slowly rising into the air and drifting towards the horizon.
Once darkness returned to the riverbank, the group drove back to the compound.
Li Shuhe yawned repeatedly, while Xu Hanli was already fast asleep.
After dropping them off at home, Chen Ji drove the car out of the compound.
Where to?
Xu Ruantang was also a little confused. "Grandma said that we can go to sleep after midnight."
She thought Chen Ji was used to staying up all night on New Year's Eve.
"I'm not going back to the courtyard tonight."
Chen Ji tightened his grip on the steering wheel. "Honey, do you want to sleep in tomorrow morning?"
His words were extremely tempting to Xu Ruantang.
During the days that her aunt had been visiting, Xu Ruantang hadn't slept in even once.
It wasn't to impress her elders, nor did Chen Ji ask her to do it; it was Xu Ruantang's own choice.
She nodded quickly, "Of course I want to!"
If I were at home, I would definitely have to get up early tomorrow morning and go back to the Chen family home for breakfast.
She didn't want to stay up so late tonight at all.
"Then I'll do as I say."
The jeep drove out of the compound; the streets were deserted.
It's probably because Xishan is remote; if it were in the city center, it definitely wouldn't be like this.
After they circled around the city, Xu Ruantang finally realized what was happening. She turned to Chen Ji, her eyes sparkling, and asked, "Chen Ji, shall we go and stay in the new house?"
The new furniture had already been delivered to the house, and the bedding and other items were all new, sewn by my godmother.
The bed sheets were hand-knitted by Ye Lan, and the old lady also gave several bolts, all of which were styles that Xu Ruantang liked.
They were all coarse cloth bed sheets, but Xu Ruantang bought other styles, mostly in colors she liked.
I used to live with Chen Ji in the compound, and we used all of Chen Ji's things, mostly military green, which wasn't cozy at all.
Once inside, the lights were turned on, and Xu Ruantang looked at Chen Ji in shock.
"You did all of this?"
Chen Ji nodded. "Yes, do you like it?"
Even though fresh flowers are scarce in winter, a dripping red rose still sits in the living room.
The windows were bright and clean, and the place didn't look like it had been uninhabited for a long time.
The bedroom, once the door opened, was covered with pink sheets that Xu Ruantang liked, and neatly folded clothes that Xu Ruantang had never seen before.
"Wife, I'll prepare all your new clothes for the New Year from now on."
Chen Ji hugged Xu Ruantang from behind, his voice deep and magnetic, "Happy New Year, my wife."
Xu Ruantang's eyes welled up with tears. She held Chen Jihuan's hand, which was resting on her waist, and gently said, "Happy New Year, my husband."
He remembered every word she said.
Xu Ruantang had never been so cared for before, and she was so moved that she almost cried.
Before her tears could fall, warm lips landed on her cool earlobe. Chen Ji's eyes darkened, and his tone became slow and seductive.
"Ruan Ruan, let's try out the new furniture."
