Chapter 392 Moral Depravity!

Xu Ruantang didn't bring up the matter in front of Sister Juan; she planned to ask about it first.

Don't give people hope only to disappoint them again soon.

Sister Juan usually appears gentle and strong, but in reality, people who are sick are all fragile inside.

You can tell from the last time she insisted that Qiu Liang divorce her.

With the arrival of summer, business at Godmother and Aunt Liu's tailor shop became even better.

This year, the colors of the clothes have become much more colorful, with yellow, red, and purple, which look very festive.

My godmother and Aunt Liu each had a sewing machine, and they chatted while they worked on them, their faces full of smiles.

Xu Ruantang was also very pleased.

The reason I found this job for my godmother was because I was afraid she would feel bored in the city.

She looks much better now than when she first came to the city; after a winter, she's gained some weight.

Xu Ruantang would occasionally slip her some money, thinking that she could buy something she wanted to eat or use.

To her surprise, her godmother not only refused to accept the money, but also offered to give it to her.

"Your Aunt Liu and I make a good living at the tailor shop. If you and Chen Ji have three children, your godmother can afford to support them!"

When her godmother spoke, she tilted her chin slightly, the little old lady was incredibly proud.

When Xu Ruantang got home that evening, she mentioned to Chen Ji that she wanted to find a doctor for Sister Juan.

The Chen family has always lived in Beijing, and given their status, they naturally have a wide network of connections.

"I'll go ask about it tomorrow."

Chen Ji agreed quickly.

Xu Ruantang nodded, "There's one more thing. Several elderly people in the family, including my mother, are getting on in years. I'm thinking of taking them to the hospital at least once a year for a check-up. It would be best if there were no problems, but if there are any minor issues, we can detect them early and treat them promptly."

As people age, their physical functions inevitably decline.

Chen Ji wholeheartedly agreed with his wife's point of view, "Okay, I'll make the contact and go with her."

Xu Ruantang smiled and said, "No need. You make the arrangements, and I'll go with Grandma and the others."

She had originally wanted to mention Chen Lin to Chen Ji, thinking that Chen Lin should also get checked out.

But Chen Ji didn't mean it that way at all, so she didn't say anything.

A few days later, the hospital for the examination was arranged.

Xu Ruantang figured the elderly people definitely wouldn't want to go, so she didn't tell them beforehand.

I went over the night before and told them not to drink water or eat after 10 p.m.

In this day and age, inspection machines are not perfect, but looking is better than not looking.

The next morning, Xu Ruantang drove to pick up the old lady, her godmother, and Ye Lan.

The old lady and her godmother sat in the back seat, while Ye Lan got into the passenger seat.

As soon as she got on the bus, she couldn't wait to open the basket she was carrying and stuff the steaming hot eggs into Xu Ruantang's hands.

"Here, have an egg."

Xu Ruantang was both amused and exasperated. "Mom, didn't I say I had to fast?"

Ye Lan took back the eggs and started peeling them. "How could I forget? The three of us didn't eat anything. This is for you."

The old lady, still leaning on her cane in the car, chimed in, "Yes, your mother was worried you'd be hungry, so she brought you milk, sesame cakes, and steamed buns that were just made yesterday. Eat them while they're hot."

Xu Ruantang had no appetite at all this morning.

Besides, she can't eat while accompanying them for their medical check-ups, even though they're on an empty stomach.

Finally, after being fed by Ye Lan, it ate a steamed bun.

"Your appetite is smaller than a kitten's."

Ye Lan murmured, "You can't do this. Didn't Chen Ji arrange any tests for you? If you continue eating this little bit when you're pregnant, how will the baby get enough nutrition?"

Ye Lan was the first in the family to urge Chen Ji to have a child with Xu Ruantang, and her godmother was the second.

Ye Lan always felt that she was still young, and that she could help take care of the child Chen Ji had with Xu Ruantang.

I'm worried that in two more years, her health will deteriorate and she won't be able to take care of the child anymore.

Every time Ye Lan visited the Chen family, she would subtly bring it up.

"I don't ask for much. You two just need one of them. A boy is fine, but a girl would be best."

The doctors at the military hospital all knew the old lady and Ye Lan, so Xu Ruantang hardly needed any help.

She stood in the corridor waiting.

Unexpectedly, I ran into Cheng Dan again.

Xu Ruantang glanced at her but ignored her.

Since Chen Ji was probably not there, Cheng Dan didn't come over, but went straight into the examination room.

When she came out again, she was helping the old lady.

The old lady looked very unwilling, but as soon as she saw Xu Ruantang, she swung her cane very fast and almost took off.

"Grandma, please walk slowly."

Cheng Dan wore a polite smile and looked at the old lady with a helpless expression, her tone full of affection, "You just had a check-up, it's dangerous for you to be like this."

The tone was as if the old lady were her own grandmother.

The people in the hospital didn't know the inside story; they only knew that the Cheng and Chen families lived in the same compound, so they naturally assumed that it was only natural for them to be close.

"Dr. Cheng, my daughter-in-law is waiting outside. You don't need to worry about this. Go back to work."

Ye Lan followed behind the old lady, and although she had been pressing her arm with a cotton ball, she threw it away in her haste.

She had never seen a girl like the Cheng family's daughter, who had caused so much trouble and whose relationship with her family had long been strained.

Cheng Dan could still act as if nothing had happened and say things that were easy to misunderstand.

"Ruan Tang, quickly help your grandma."

Ye Lan shouted, "We can't let outsiders interfere in the affairs of our Chen family. Why are you not working during working hours and instead coming here to fawn over us? This hospital really has no rules or regulations at all. Is it because someone is relying on someone's power that they can act so recklessly?"

Ye Lan showed Cheng Dan no mercy whatsoever; her outburst left Cheng Dan utterly humiliated.

The doctors in the examination room all looked out.

Among them were many who believed that Cheng Dan got in through her father's connections and backdoors.

"I remember the Chen family only had two sons, and they're both married, aren't they? What's Dr. Cheng trying to do by being so attentive?"

The whispers in the examination room were deliberately kept low, but they still reached Cheng Dan's ears clearly.

Her face turned pale and then bluish.

She simply felt that since the old lady and Ye Lan were Chen Ji's grandmother and mother, she should take care of them when they came to the hospital.

Cheng Dan felt that she hadn't done anything out of line, so why was Ye Lan treating her like this?

The discussion continued, and Xu Ruantang quickly stepped forward, helping the old lady and her godmother away on either side.

"Don't you know? Dr. Cheng used to have a crush on the third son of the Chen family, and he's already a deputy brigade commander now!"

"The daughter-in-law that Madam Chen just called out to, could it be the third son's wife?"

"Yes, they were even hospitalized in our hospital before. I saw them; they were incredibly affectionate."

"The falling flowers are full of affection, but the flowing water is heartless."

"Pah! Destroying other people's marriage and talking about 'fallen flowers' is just morally reprehensible! If it weren't for her father, would someone like her even be able to come back to our hospital?"

This group of people clearly did it on purpose.

Cheng Dan was standing at the door, and they continued their lively conversation as usual.
