Chapter 80 Are you pregnant?

Li Shuhe couldn't stand Cheng Dan's bullying behavior, so she pulled Xu Ruantang into her house.

"Ruan Ruan, we're at my house, let's go!"

The Li family's courtyard was much larger than theirs; it was also a two-story building.

As soon as he entered, a middle-aged woman came out to greet him, "Xiao Li, you're back."

"Yes, Aunt Zhang, could you please take this?"

Li Shuhe took the box from Xu Ruantang and quickly handed it to the person called Aunt Zhang.

There was no other way; she couldn't lift it if she didn't hurry.

The two sat down in the living room, but surprisingly, Cheng Dan didn't follow them in. As Xu Ruantang was thinking this, she heard footsteps approaching.

"Shuhe, what delicious treats are you sneaking around at home? Why didn't you go to the performing arts troupe today?"

Cheng Dan walked in arm in arm with a woman who was tall, very fashionable, and had curly hair.

Upon seeing the person who arrived, Li Shuhe said without any emotion, "I've already taken leave. Are you off work?"

"Yes, I was just passing by your house when I ran into Dr. Cheng at the door, so we came in together. And who is this?"

Li Shuhe then introduced, "Ruan Ruan, let me introduce you. This is Chen Ji's second uncle's wife, Jia Shuling. Sister Jia, this is Xu Ruantang, Chen Ji's wife. You two are actually relatives."

Chen Ji's second uncle's lover?

Chen Jidu is already twenty-eight years old, but Second Uncle is so young? His wife looks to be no more than twenty-five.

Xu Ruantang greeted her with a smile, "Second Aunt."

Chen Ji has so many relatives; what happened to his promise of being all alone?!

Jia Shuling scrutinized Xu Ruantang with a critical look. "No, don't call me Second Aunt."

As she spoke, she sat down on the sofa, pulling Cheng Dan along with her.

Turning to Cheng Dan with a disdainful tone, he said, "How come I didn't know that my eldest brother's third son got married? Did they not invite me to the banquet? I'll have to ask my eldest brother and Chen Ji what they mean by that!"

The atmosphere in the living room changed after those words were spoken.

In this day and age, most families value their wedding banquet more than their marriage certificate. Even if they choose to keep a low profile and not hold a large wedding ceremony, they will definitely invite their relatives for a meal.

Moreover, this is especially true for a prominent family like the Chen family.

At the very least, one should spread the word and take the new bride on a tour of various places so that they can get to know each other.

Jia Shuling said this simply to embarrass Xu Ruantang, to give this new daughter-in-law a hard time, or perhaps she really looked down on her and wanted to humiliate her.

"Second Aunt, Chen Ji and Comrade Xu have indeed registered their marriage." Cheng Dan smiled and smoothed things over for Xu Ruantang: "The countryside is different from the city, so maybe people don't care about the wedding banquet."

Besides, Chen Ji is so busy; he probably doesn't care or want to do it because he can't spare the time. Comrade Xu, don't you agree?

These two are really in perfect harmony.

She knew perfectly well whether or not banquets were important in rural areas, especially since Wang Jian was getting married when she first visited Dahe Village.

"Really?" Before Xu Ruantang could speak, Jia Shuling chimed in: "No matter how busy Chen Ji is, can he be busier than his second uncle? When I got married to his second uncle, he always made time to hold the wedding banquet, no matter how busy he was."

This isn't a matter of being busy or not; in my opinion, it's simply a matter of whether you value it or not, whether you keep this person in your heart.

Jia Shuling glanced at Xu Ruantang and said, "The third son's family has always been meticulous and rigorous. He is already a regimental commander at a young age and a highly qualified talent who graduated from Tsinghua University. He can't possibly not understand such a simple principle."

He rambled on and on, but Xu Ruantang didn't hear a single word.

Looking at Jia Shuling's bright red lips, she wondered if lipsticks were of such poor quality these days, or if she just talked too much and her lips were cracked like the East African Grand Canyon.

"Wait a minute." Xu Ruantang turned to the side and asked Li Shuhe curiously, "You call her 'sister'?"

Li Shuhe nodded, puzzled, and said, "That's right! Ruan Ruan, even though Uncle Chen Ji is already forty-eight years old, Sister Jia is only twenty-five! I feel it's more appropriate to call her 'Sister'."

Oh wow, Sparrow's bull nose.

Xu Ruantang nodded in agreement, then looked at Cheng Dan and asked, "You call her 'aunt'? Dr. Cheng, are you the same age as Chen Ji, twenty-eight this year?"

She was genuinely curious. If Cheng Dan was twenty-eight years old, calling a twenty-five-year-old woman "aunt" would be crazy!

Cheng Dan and Jia Shuling looked increasingly grim. They exchanged a glance, both seeing confusion in each other's eyes.

Does this woman not understand human speech?

They've made it so clear that Chen Ji doesn't care about her and doesn't value her at all. No matter how stupid she is, she should understand by now.

Even if they weren't furious, they should at least look grim and feel like they were sitting on pins and needles.

"Comrade Xu, what are you saying? I will definitely call her Second Aunt according to Chen Ji's seniority." Cheng Dan gritted her teeth and added fuel to the fire with a smile: "By the way, Chen Ji definitely didn't do it on purpose that you didn't hold a banquet. When he comes back, you must not make a fuss with him. He must have his difficulties."

Jia Shuling glared at Xu Ruantang and chimed in, "Yes, we women should be more understanding, especially someone like you with such a humble background. Marrying Chen Ji is a blessing you couldn't have earned in several lifetimes!"

"Ugh!" Xu Ruantang covered her mouth and couldn't help but gag.

Li Shuhe immediately stood up and asked her with concern, "Ruan Ruan, what's wrong? Did you eat something bad or is your stomach upset? Come on, let's go to the clinic now."

As she spoke, she tried to pull Xu Ruantang away.

Xu Ruantang patted her chest, almost bringing tears to her eyes. "I'm fine, I don't need to go."

I'm truly disgusted by these comments!

How could these two people say such things? One of them is a doctor, from a high-ranking family, with a status that others don't have and a life that others can't enjoy. Yet he acts like a hermaphrodite every day, and he's willing to lose all his dignity for a man.
