Chapter 91 She complained, infuriating them.

If Chen Ji were to move back with Xiao Bao, things would be chaotic every day.

She stirred the noodles again and again, but they were still impossible to eat.

Chen Ji stretched out his long arm and took her bowl, then took an empty bowl, picked out a small portion of the side dishes from the large bowl and put them into the small bowl.

After doing all this, the small bowl was placed in front of Xu Ruantang, while he took the large bowl away himself.

Everyone was stunned by this action, especially the old lady, who exclaimed, "Stepson, what are you doing?!"

No wonder the third granddaughter-in-law is so thin; it turns out Chen Ji isn't feeding her? When did he become so poor?

He actually tried to steal food from his wife's mouth! How could he even think of that?!

Xu Ruantang had stuffed a whole noodle into her mouth before she realized the unusual atmosphere.

"Grandma, she has a small appetite and can't finish this big bowl," Chen Ji explained calmly.

Xu Ruantang quickly chimed in, "Yes, Grandma, I ate too much for breakfast, so I'm not very hungry right now."

The old lady was skeptical, but said with some concern, "How can such a small amount fill you up? Come on, eat more meat!"

As he spoke, he placed another piece of braised pork in her bowl.

"Okay, thank you, Grandma."

There was a dish of celery and shrimp on the table. Jia Shuling's eyes lit up, and she picked up a piece of celery and put it into Xu Ruantang's bowl.

"Third son's wife, come on, eat more celery!"

As she spoke, she picked up another shrimp for herself, then said with a coquettish smile, "You've just married into the family, so eat more celery and be more diligent! Our third son didn't know anything at home before, so you'll have to take good care of him from now on!"

Xu Ruantang looked at the celery in the bowl and felt that the delicious noodles had been ruined.

Before she could speak, Chen Ji stretched out his chopsticks, picked up the celery, and threw it on the table.

"Second Aunt, mind your own business. My wife doesn't need to be diligent or serve me. You just need to serve Second Uncle well."

Chen Ji's voice was deep and cold as he glanced at Jia Shuling.

Xu Ruantang, quick as a flash, picked up the poor celery stalk and threw it into Jia Shuling's bowl.

After throwing it away, he wiped his hands with disgust and laughed as he retorted to Jia Shuling, "Sister Jia, Chen Ji and I don't live at home, so we'll have to ask you to take good care of Grandma! You should eat more celery and be more diligent in serving Grandma and the whole family. You can eat all of this celery, it's all yours!"

Jia Shuling's face turned green.

Chen Ji threw that celery stalk on the table. Did he think she was a dog?

She was about to scold Xu Ruantang for being ill-mannered when the old lady interrupted her with a shout, "Alright, you're an aunt, why are you arguing with the younger generation! My granddaughter-in-law is young, you should be more accommodating to her."

"Mom, look at her, she has no manners at all! Listen to what she called me, Sister Jia? What kind of address is that! I'm not that much older than her, why should I give way to her?!"

Jia Shuling was so angry that her face turned red and her neck bulged. She glared fiercely at Xu Ruantang.

The old lady interrupted her, and she forgot that the celery in her bowl was something she had picked up. She was so angry that she almost snorted.

While Jia Shuling was rambling on, Xu Ruantang ate a small bowl of noodles with soybean paste, which made her feel quite full.

The old lady's noodles with soybean paste were truly exceptional. If it weren't for the timing, she would have asked how she made them so she could try to recreate them at home.

“It’s not that I don’t want to call you Second Aunt, it’s that you said Chen Ji and I didn’t have a wedding banquet. You didn’t know we got married, so you didn’t want me to call you that! You even said you were going to come back and ask the Chen family why they didn’t invite you to the banquet.”

After Xu Ruantang finished speaking slowly, she looked back at Jia Shuling and raised an eyebrow.

Jia Shuling tried to stand up, put her hands on her hips, and started cursing.

When has she ever suffered such a loss? This little bitch actually went and complained.

Cheng Dan quietly tugged at her under the table and said with a smile, "Ruan Tang, your second aunt was just joking with you! Look at you, why are you taking it so seriously? We're all family, why get so worked up?"

"Chen Jigang is home now, so let's not keep bringing up these unpleasant things."

It was clearly Jia Shuling who started the trouble with the celery, but the two of them, acting in concert, instantly stood on the moral high ground and began to trample on others.

Xu Ruantang nodded. "Oh, right! Dr. Cheng, I remember you told me that my second uncle had time to hold a banquet when he married my second aunt. Chen Ji obviously doesn't care about me or value me, which is why he didn't hold a banquet."

He also told me to wait for Chen Ji to come back so I could definitely give him a good thrashing.

Cheng Dan's face turned pale. She had never said such a thing!

"Ruan Tang, how can you talk nonsense like that? I told you not to cause trouble with Chen Ji. I clearly said that he must have his difficulties, and he didn't do it on purpose by not holding a banquet."

The words of rebuttal slipped out, and Cheng Dan immediately regretted them.

She could say those things in front of Xu Ruantang, since Xu Ruantang was naive and didn't understand anything.

But now, everyone sitting at the table is a high-ranking person; you can tell the truth just by listening.

Cheng Dan subconsciously looked at Chen Ji and found that his face darkened and his eyes were full of cold light.

Her hands, hidden under the table, were twisted together, and she bit her lip tightly, afraid to make a sound.

"Oh, let's eat then. Maybe I remembered it wrong."

Xu Ruantang casually brushed it off and picked up her water glass to drink.

She's not stupid, how could she remember wrong? Those two are probably cursing her as a tattletale in their hearts!

She complained to them, which infuriated them.

“What the Cheng family girl said is not wrong.” The old lady pondered for a while before speaking.

Cheng Dan's face lit up with joy, and then she heard the old lady continue, "Chen Ji is not a thoughtful child. We elders should worry about him. He has his grandmother and parents to care for, so it's not his place to worry about them."

The old lady turned to look at Chen Ji, "So, Grandma will take care of your banquet arrangements! Grandma has already chosen the date, June 1st!"

The old lady made the decision immediately.
