To her surprise, Li Shuhe actually believed her.
"You two are really good at having fun!"
"Drink water."
The water was handed over, and Xu Ruantang quietly put the agreement away.
Li Shuhe took a sip of water and then asked, "I heard from Aunt Ye that you and Chen Ji are planning to have a wedding banquet?"
The "Aunt Ye" she mentioned is Chen Ji's mother, Ye Lan.
"Yes." Xu Ruantang nodded. "We are planning to hold one. It should be a few tables, and we'll invite everyone to dinner."
She had only ever seen Yao Yulan hold banquets, so she naturally assumed that's how it should be.
Li Shuhe patted Xu Ruantang on the shoulder, looking like she knew he would think that way.
"We need to buy wedding clothes and take photos. Chen Ji didn't mention any of these things, did he?"
Xu Ruantang thought to herself that it was fortunate Chen Ji hadn't said anything, otherwise she would have regretted agreeing.
It's just a banquet, and it's acceptable for her to attend.
"No need, we don't care about these things."
Li Shuhe talked with Xu Ruantang for a while before returning to the cultural troupe.
Xu Ruantang packed the pastries into boxes, then took Xiaobao to Aunt Liu's house before heading out herself.
She still plans to go to the garment factory today, and after selling everything, she will go to the Xifosi Market, as she has almost used up the fabric she bought last time.
The skirts I designed before didn't have buttons, but this time I plan to see if there are any nice buttons, buy them, and design some patterns with buttons.
When she arrived at the garment factory, it was after work. There were still many people coming to buy. Before she could even set up her stall, the little girl who was the first to try the food last time came over.
"Comrade, why haven't you set up your stall these past few days?"
As soon as she put down the styrofoam box, she was quickly surrounded.
Xu Ruantang smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry, I've been too busy with family matters lately, so I haven't been able to set up my stall. Don't crowd, take your time, you'll be able to buy everything."
She hadn't expected business to be so good; she thought that selling most of it would be a good result.
Most of the customers were women, and they were all very conscientious about queuing up in order of arrival, each with their money in hand.
Suddenly someone pushed through the crowd, squeezed in a few times, and stuffed several ten-yuan bills into Xu Ruantang's arms.
"I'll take them all."
The crowd erupted in uproar, with some expressing their dissatisfaction.
"No, we were here first!"
"Yeah, don't you even know what 'first come, first served' means? If you want something, you should at least wait in line!"
The crowd was outraged, and a barrage of curses erupted.
The man had a dark expression on his face. He didn't say anything back, just stood there and wouldn't move. He even put the money down and started rummaging through the box.
Xu Ruantang didn't expect this man to come again. Last time she followed him to his shop, she found that he was using her as a middleman.
"etc."
Xu Ruantang reached out and pressed down on the box the man was about to open. "They came first. Please, comrade, go to the back of the line."
The man stood motionless, his gloomy face quite frightening.
"No, if I go to line up, there won't be any left by the time it's my turn. You sell it to me first, and I can give you a few more dollars."
The man stood there with his neck stiffened; he was tall and imposing, and looked quite intimidating.
The female employees were all frightened, and for a moment no one dared to speak.
Xu Ruantang glanced at the man indifferently and waved to him.
The man looked at him, puzzled.
"Come closer," Xu Ruantang said irritably.
When the man approached with a suspicious look, she whispered a few words to him.
The man glanced at her, then obediently walked away, squatting on the curb and watching Xu Ruantang sell her goods.
He neither left nor disturbed anyone.
Soon, all the pastries Xu Ruantang brought were sold out. She closed the box, clapped her hands, and stood up.
The man saw her get up, and he got up too.
"Let's go." Xu Ruantang gestured with her chin toward him.
On the way to Xifo Temple, Xu Ruantang asked a question, and the man answered it, without saying a single extra word.
This tall and imposing man, if not others, looked like the kind of guy who could kill three Xu Ruantangs with one punch.
But in reality, he's quite dull-witted.
Xu Ruantang chuckled, "You can't keep this up for long. You should find a master to learn a skill."
Beijing is developing faster than other places, so it's not difficult to find a pastry chef to learn the craft.
If we don't improve ourselves, the store will go out of business sooner or later.
The man scratched his head and took the suitcase from Xu Ruantang's hands. "I have no money, and I can't leave the shop I'm in now."
They soon arrived at the man's shop, and Xu Ruantang was stunned by the scene inside.
How can you help me?
The man asked.
What Xu Ruantang said to the man at the entrance of the garment factory was, "I can revive your shop. You don't need to be a middleman. Trust me and wait for me over there."
"Tell me your basic information first, and be honest."
Xu Ruantang found a stool and sat down, listening quietly to what the man had to say.
The man's name was Qiu Liang, and he was thirty-five years old. The shop had been passed down from his father, and the house was their own.
Those old-fashioned pastries used to sell very well, but as Xu Ruantang said, the development of Beijing was too fast, and his pastries were gradually eliminated by the market, with very few people buying them.
Qiu Liang went to the garment factory on business that day and unintentionally saw Xu Ruantang selling honey bread and mung bean cakes.
They both sell groceries, but he couldn't understand why Xu Ruantang could sell so well even just by pushing a bicycle.
He originally intended to buy some to take back and study, but they were sold out when he arrived, so he asked Xu Ruantang for some samples.
"So the second time you were at the flour mill, you were waiting for me specifically?"
