Chapter 57 You're just a despicable person who can't stand to see others doing well!

Yao Guoqiang's face was extremely ugly, and he whispered harshly, "Shut up!"

He was furious when he learned that Yao Yulan and Aunt Wang had fought in the village. Sending Yao Yulan back to the Wang family was meant to ease tensions; this rebellious daughter was truly hopeless!

Yao Yulan reluctantly shut her mouth, and the two men carried her toward the Wang family, followed by many villagers along the way.

Everyone was pointing and whispering about Yao Yulan. Yao Guoqiang felt like he was being made a fool of, and he had nowhere to vent his anger. He pointed at Yao's mother's nose and yelled, "Look at the good daughter you raised!"

Yao's mother felt extremely wronged. Her youngest daughter was spoiled by Yao Guoqiang. She had even told Yao Guoqiang before that she hoped he would pay more attention to his other children.

In response, Yao Guoqiang said, "My Lanlan is the most obedient and sensible. She's younger, so what's wrong with me favoring her? As the older sister, why don't they give way to their younger sister? Did they complain to you again? How petty of them."

Later, Yao's mother stopped talking, and Yao Yulan became increasingly arrogant and domineering, looking down on everyone.

Now that something's happened, Yao Guoqiang is actually blaming her?!

Yao's mother also had a temper. She immediately dropped Yao Yulan's leg, stomped her foot, and burst into tears. In the blink of an eye, she disappeared.

A group of villagers were gathered around. Yao Guoqiang had never felt so humiliated before. He was so angry that he waved his hand and wanted to curse back.

Before he could finish his curse, a wail rang out, and Yao Guoqiang realized that in his haste, he had thrown Yao Yulan to the ground.

"Secretary Yao, what brings you here?"

Xu Ruantang left Aunt Wang's room and stood in the courtyard, coldly observing the farce before asking a question.

When Yao Guoqiang saw Xu Ruantang, his face turned pale and then red.

This was originally a matter between the Yao and Wang families, and Xu Ruantang had no right to interfere, but he was rather afraid of Chen Ji.

Having served as the Party branch secretary for several years, he had a knack for judging people. Moreover, he had heard a couple of days ago that Chen Ji was going back to the army, which confirmed his previous suspicions about Chen Ji's identity.

Chen Ji is someone you can't afford to offend, and you shouldn't offend him either.

Yao Guoqiang forced a smile and said kindly, "Comrade Xu, what are you saying? Lanlan is a member of the Wang family, so of course she should go back to her own home."

Last time, Aunt Wang kicked Yao Yulan out of the Wang family, and Yao Yulan ran back to her parents' home and cried her eyes out, saying that she wanted to divorce Wang Jian and never go back to that place again!

Yao Yulan's true thought was: Brother Chen is leaving, and any lingering hope of staying with the Wang family is gone. Since she can't have Brother Chen, she'll get a divorce and let Yao Guoqiang find her another man; that's better than staying with Wang Jianqiang.

She couldn't possibly beat that shrew, Widow Wang.

Seeing his daughter crying with tears streaming down her face, Yao Guoqiang was somewhat moved and even considered having them divorce.

But the idea was quickly dismissed.

Because the villagers were gossiping, saying that Yao Yulan had ruined the Wang family, Yao Guoqiang was pointed at and talked about wherever he went.

Yao Guoqiang is the village secretary. People don't say anything to his face, but that doesn't mean they don't gossip behind his back. Some bolder people or older relatives even point their fingers at him and berate him for not disciplining his daughter properly.

Yao Yulan stayed at her parents' home for less than a morning. Before she could even feel happy, her father went out for a while and came back as a completely different person. He turned around and sent her back to the Wang family.

He also warned her harshly: When Wang Jian and Aunt Wang come back, apologize to them properly and admit your mistakes. Tell her to be more filial to Aunt Wang in the future, live a good life with Wang Jian, and not to have any more improper thoughts.

Yao Yulan was unwilling, but she had no choice.

In the afternoon, Aunt Wang returned, but Wang Jian did not.

He died.

That man is dead!

Yao Yulan still remembered what Aunt Wang said before she left. When she saw the police car, she scrambled back to the Yao family home.

Not daring to let Yao Guoqiang know, she cried and begged her older sister and Yao's mother for help.

So Yao Yulan hid at home for several days before Yao Guoqiang discovered her.

After Yao Guoqiang gave Yao Yulan a good scolding, she had no choice but to return to the Wang family. She couldn't stay at her parents' home, and she had nowhere else to go.

Yao Yulan thought that if she was willing to return to the Wang family, they would forgive her. After all, she was a widow; she should be the most pitiful one!

Who knew that Widow Wang would go mad, hitting and cursing her, and even chasing her all over the village with a knife because of Xu Ruantang!

Lying on the ground, her body still aching as if it were falling apart, Yao Yulan glared at Xu Ruantang and roared, "Who do you think you are? Xu Ruantang, get out of here! Wang Jian is my husband, the Wang family is my family, what do you think you are, you bitch surnamed Xu? It must be you who stirred up trouble between me and my mother-in-law that made her try to kill me with a knife! You're just a despicable person who can't stand seeing others do well!"

She's like this now all thanks to Xu Ruantang!

If I had known it would turn out like this, I shouldn't have been so cautious before. Why did I put peaches in the chicken soup and cause Brother Chen's allergy? Why did I have to be so roundabout?

They should have just fed Xu Ruantang rat poison back then!

Yao Yulan lay on the ground, her chest heaving. Several times she struggled to get up, wanting to slap Xu Ruantang a few times to vent her anger.

He struggled for a long time but couldn't get up.

Aunt Wang beat her quite badly; the injuries she sustained a few nights ago haven't healed yet!

Xu Ruantang ignored her and said to Yao Guoqiang, "Secretary Yao, you know what kind of situation Aunt Wang is in right now. It's not appropriate for you to send her back. Why don't you take her back first and we can talk about it again when Aunt Wang is feeling better?"

If this continues, either Aunt Wang will be angered to death by Yao Yulan, or Yao Yulan will be beaten to death by Aunt Wang.

The former is something Xu Ruantang doesn't want to see, and the latter is murder, which is illegal; neither is appropriate.

Yao Guoqiang seemed to have taken it to heart. He hesitated for a moment and was about to speak when a voice came from inside the room.
