Shen Youyou turned her head following the boss's gaze and saw Xu Ruantang; the smile on her face faded.
"Comrade Xu, what brings you here?"
Her tone wasn't pleasant; in fact, it was rather sharp.
Xu Ruantang found her inexplicable; she couldn't understand where her hostility came from.
"Comrade Shen, this is a watch repair shop, so of course I'm here to get my watch repaired."
Xu Ruantang replied indifferently, "Are you going to fix it or not? If you're not going to fix it, then I'll fix it first?"
Shen Youyou was wearing sunglasses, so Xu Ruantang couldn't see her eyes, but she could tell that the corners of her mouth were downturned.
"Okay, you go first."
Shen Youyou turned around and said, "Boss, fix it for her first."
The boss didn't care about any of that; it didn't matter whose business he did. He immediately reached out his hand to Xu Ruantang and said, "Miss, let me see your watch."
Xu Ruantang took out her watch. "The watch face is cracked. Could you please replace it for me?"
The boss said this was a slow job and told Xu Ruantang to come back in a day or wait a while to pick it up.
She happened to be going to the bookstore anyway, so she agreed, "Okay, I'll come pick it up in a bit."
After Xu Ruantang left, Shen Youyou walked up to the boss and said, "Boss, my watch has stopped working. Can you take a look and see what's wrong?"
"Not leaving?" The shopkeeper put on his glasses, leaned closer to examine the form, and said, "Then you'll have to leave the form here and come back to pick it up tomorrow, okay?"
Shen Youyou frowned. "I can't come tomorrow. The earliest I can come is the weekend. I had to take the day off today."
The shop owner looked troubled. "Miss, you can rest assured that the watch is in my shop. I'm open on weekends too. You can come and pick it up then, okay?"
Shen Youyou finally took off her sunglasses. "That's fine, boss. My watch is different from everyone else's. You have to take a good look at it for me. I'm willing to pay any amount of money as long as it can be repaired."
The shopkeeper nodded repeatedly, "Don't worry, miss, my watch repair skills are renowned for miles around. I guarantee you'll be satisfied!"
