Chapter 57 Hit Someone

"Stone, what's going on?"

Lin Chengyu looked at the driver, Wang Shitou, with a displeased expression.

Wang Shitou is a Hong Kong native with five or six years of driving experience. He's a hard-working man who works diligently every day to support his family. Although his family isn't wealthy, they're considered quite well-off in the bustling city of Hong Kong.

Wang Shitou's wife is a gentle and virtuous woman who prepares breakfast and dinner for him every day, making him feel the warmth and love of family. They also have a lovely five-year-old son and parents who work in a factory; they are all ordinary yet aspiring working people.

Although Wang Shitou's life is not wealthy, he possesses an optimistic and positive attitude. He faces life's challenges and difficulties with a smile every day because he believes that as long as he works hard, he will definitely be able to create a better future.

Lin Chengyu likes his personality; he seems very enthusiastic and full of life.

Lin Chengyu, who always thought Wang Shitou was a very steady driver, never expected that he would hit someone while driving.

Wang Shitou sat in the driver's seat, his face pale, his eyes fixed straight ahead. His hands were still gripping the steering wheel, as if he hadn't yet recovered from the impact.

After a long pause, he hurriedly explained, "Mr. Lin, it's not my fault. The other person suddenly ran onto the road, and I... I didn't react in time, which is why I bumped into them!"

His voice was filled with fear and helplessness, as if he were a victim himself. Wang Shitou sat there blankly, watching everything before him, his heart filled with pain and regret. He knew he was partly responsible for all of this; if he had been more careful while driving, none of this would have happened.

Seeing that Lin Sheng remained silent, Wang Shitou assumed that Lin Sheng was still blaming him, so he quickly said, "Lin Sheng, don't worry, I will take full responsibility. I won't make things difficult for you."

Lin Sheng shook his head and said, "No, this is not our fault. I feel this was premeditated!"

Lin Sheng's eyes were filled with determination and calmness; he seemed to have recovered from the chaos just now. He carefully observed the surrounding situation and found a tree by the roadside. The other party must have been hiding behind the tree and suddenly rushed out after their car drove up.

At this moment, Song Ziqing realized the seriousness of the situation. Her heart raced, and her throat went dry. She breathed rapidly, urging Wang Shitou and the bodyguard in the passenger seat to get out of the car and check the situation.

"You two get out of the car right now and check if that person is dead!"

Song Ziqing's voice carried a hint of panic and anxiety. She knew that the handling of death and injury would be very different, and she had to focus on the key points and not make things more complicated.

Upon hearing Song Ziqing's urging, Wang Shitou and the bodyguard in the passenger seat also became serious. They understood that this was a very sensitive moment, and they had to act as soon as possible.

Wang Shitou opened the car door, his body trembling slightly. He took a deep breath and slowly got out of the car. His footsteps sounded particularly clear in the quiet night, as if each step carried a heavy burden.

The bodyguard in the passenger seat also got out of the car, a hint of tension in his eyes. The two of them silently walked towards the person lying on the ground, their steps slowing down, as if time itself had stopped moving at that moment.

When they finally reached the person, they saw a heartbreaking scene. The person lay on the ground, blood gushing from her head. Her eyes were closed, and her breathing had become weak.

Wang Shitou and the bodyguard in the passenger seat exchanged a glance; they both saw the shock and helplessness in each other's eyes. They knew this man was on the verge of death, and they had to act quickly.

Wang Shitou bent down and gently lifted the man's head. He saw a pale face, filled with pain and despair. He tried to find the man's wounds, but blood had blurred everything.

The bodyguard in the passenger seat quickly returned and reported the man's situation to Lin Chengyu and Song Ziqing.

"Quick! We need to get him to the hospital right away!" Song Ziqing's voice rang out again.

She stood beside the car, her body trembling slightly. She knew that time was of the essence, and regardless of whether the man had acted premeditatedly, they had to get him to the hospital as soon as possible.

Wang Shitou, the bodyguard in the passenger seat, and the two bodyguards in the Bentley behind nodded, and they began to act. The four men lifted the woman's body and carefully placed her into the Bentley that had followed.

Then, Wang Shitou switched seats with his bodyguard and jumped into the passenger seat. His hands were still shaking, and he didn't dare to drive anymore, so he had to give the driver's seat to his bodyguard.

The two cars sped towards the hospital, and no one spoke a word the entire way. Their hearts were heavy, as if the whole world had fallen silent.

Finally, the vehicle arrived at the hospital. Wang Shitou and his three bodyguards quickly got out and carried the man into the emergency room. The doctors and nurses immediately began resuscitation efforts, and their professionalism and speed gave Song Ziqing a glimmer of hope.

Song Ziqing stood outside the emergency room, her heart still pounding with anxiety. She didn't know if the person would survive, but she knew they had done everything they could. She prayed silently, hoping the person would be alright.

Time ticked by, and finally, the doctor emerged from the emergency room. His face showed signs of exhaustion and helplessness.

"I'm sorry, we did everything we could, but she has passed away." The doctor's voice carried a hint of apology.

Upon hearing these words, Song Ziqing's body trembled violently.

At this moment, Lin Chengyu walked up to the doctor and asked, "Doctor, could you please continue to examine the cause of this patient's death? Also, could you tell me if she had any terminal illnesses?"

"Mr. Lin, should we ask someone to help us check this person's identity?"

At this moment, three bodyguards also came over. They looked at Lin Chengyu as if waiting for his instructions.

Lin Chengyu nodded and said, "You need to have someone check this woman's identity. First, look for the bag you took out of her bag earlier and see if her ID card or something similar is inside."

Song Ziqing then realized that the woman's bag was still in her hand, so she opened the bag and roughly emptied all the contents out.
