Chapter 66 Learning to Smoke

The next day, Song Ziqing and Lin Chengyu got up early to prepare for school.

As usual, they wore neat school uniforms and carried heavy schoolbags as they walked into the campus of St. Paul's Co-educational School. However, for Song Ziqing, today felt somewhat unusual.

She sat in the classroom, looking around, the laughter of her classmates and the teacher's voice echoing in her ears.

She suddenly had a special feeling, a feeling of something lost and then found again.

She realized that it had been a long time since she had sat in this classroom, listened to the teacher's lecture, and studied with her classmates. For some time now, she had been preoccupied with her family and the village business, leaving her with almost no time or energy for her studies.

Now, she's back at school, sitting in the classroom, feeling as if she's rediscovered something she'd lost for so long.

She took a deep breath, soaking in the atmosphere of the campus, feeling the vitality and energy of youth. She knew that what she needed to do now was to study hard and lay a solid foundation for her future business.

Hong Kong's high school curriculum was not unfamiliar to Song Ziqing; she had already studied much of it. Therefore, during class, she did not listen attentively like her classmates. Instead, she chose some books she had not read before, intending to study Western history and art.

She knew that this knowledge was a blind spot for her; she only had a general understanding and needed to delve deeper into it.

She opened a book on Western art history and began to read it carefully. As she read, she felt a renewed thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning.

She knew that only by constantly learning and enriching herself could she better meet the challenges of the future. She believed that her business with Lin Chengyu would not be limited to Hong Kong and China; they would definitely go global, investing and developing worldwide.

Having the advantage of being a prophet, it would be truly foolish not to make good use of it.

In the days that followed, Song Ziqing and Lin Chengyu studied hard together and prepared for their future business.

They know that only by constantly enriching themselves and improving their abilities can they achieve greater success in future business.

Lin Chengyu always dreamed of making more friends at school. Therefore, he was very generous at school and often treated his classmates to food and drinks at the store.

He even spent money to hire someone to do his homework in order to demonstrate his friendliness and generosity.

After all, high school coursework wasn't a problem for him. He had previously studied Russian, and while reading and writing English wasn't an issue, his spoken English needed more practice. Therefore, he needed to interact more with people in Hong Kong to improve his spoken English.

After living in an English-speaking environment for just over half a month, Lin Chengyu was already able to speak fluent English.

Many people who don't know him would never guess that he came from the mainland. Just by looking at his demeanor, they would think he is a local from Hong Kong or a talented person who has studied abroad.

Lin Chengyu cherished the opportunity to make friends at school. He knew that in this highly competitive society, friends were a very important resource.

Therefore, he always tries his best to maintain good relationships with his classmates and constantly strives to improve his social skills.

He believes that only through continuous effort and dedication can he make more friends at school and realize his dreams.

For the next few days, the two continued to study and work in Hong Kong, leading a very stable life.

In their spare time, the two would also visit Xiaolong at the security company. They saw that he got along very well with the security guards there, and now that he could go to and from school normally again, he had a lot of hope for the future.

Every time Song Ziqing and his wife visited him, he would ask about his mother's whereabouts. After asking several times without receiving an answer, he seemed to sense something and stopped asking.

The nanny who recently took care of him and the security guards called Song Ziqing, saying that Xiaolong must have encountered something and had been listless lately.

Upon hearing this news, Song Ziqing was extremely worried. She knew that Xiaolong was a very sensitive child, and something must have happened to make him so quiet and withdrawn. She decided to go to the security company to see Xiaolong and find out what was wrong with him.

When she arrived at the security company, Xiaolong was playing games with several security personnel. Upon seeing Song Ziqing, a smile appeared on Xiaolong's face, but it quickly vanished.

Song Ziqing walked over to Xiaolong, squatted down, and gently asked him, "Xiaolong, what's wrong? Is something bothering you?"

Xiao Long looked at Song Ziqing, then at the people around him, lowered his head, and whispered, "Sister, I miss my mom. And my classmates know I don't have a mom or dad, so they all bully me!"

Song Ziqing felt a pang of sadness. She hugged Xiaolong, gently patted his back, and said, "Xiaolong, your mother misses you too. She's probably tied up with something right now, but she'll definitely find a way to come back and see you."

As for the bullying you by your classmates, aren't you learning boxing from the uncles now? Next time they bully you, just beat them up and they won't dare to bully you again.

Xiao Long nodded, but tears streamed down his face. Song Ziqing felt extremely saddened by this sight.

She was helpless; the two of them arranged for Xiaolong's mother to be cremated, so they couldn't conjure up a real Xiaolong's mother to comfort her.

That evening, Song Ziqing and Lin Chengyu discussed Xiaolong's matter. Song Ziqing sighed, breaking the silence in the room.

“Xiaoyu, I don’t think we can keep the fact that Xiaolong’s mother is gone from his life forever. He has the right to know. No matter what, we still need to let him know that his mother didn’t abandon him or not want him anymore. She just used her own methods to help him find a way to survive.”

Lin Chengyu silently lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and then exhaled a puff of smoke. His eyes became unfocused, as if he were recalling something.

“I know you’re right, but you also know that Xiaolong is still young. How can he withstand such a blow?”

Song Ziqing gently took Lin Chengyu's hand and said tenderly, "I know this is very unfair to Xiaolong, but we can't keep it from him forever. Xiaolong is a strong child. Give him enough time, and he will figure it out. If we keep keeping the truth from him, how can he learn to be strong?"

"But Xiaoyu, how come you've only been in Hong Kong a few days and you've already learned to smoke? That's not a good habit; smoking too much of that stuff is bad for your health."
