Chapter 9 It would be great if our house was here

Looking at the two gradually dim faces, Qin Jianye touched his nose and said, "It's not that I'm being too self-deprecating. With our arms and legs, how can we run?

If I hadn't been starving at home, I wouldn't have dared to take the risk of going to such a place!"

Qin Siyue nodded, agreeing with his father. Chen Yunwei also had no hope for her own physical strength.

A family of three lay on the kang, looking at the ceiling boredly.

The little soup I drank in the morning had already been digested.

Qin Siyue's stomach was churning and he ran back and forth to the toilet three or four times.

The old lady saw her and scolded her for being useless. She finally managed to eat something, but she pooped it all out.

Qin Siyue felt aggrieved. In the blink of an eye, her healthy body was gone, leaving her with such a weak physique.

I had to go to that smelly, drafty dry toilet, and when the wind blew, it was almost like entering a cold storage.

Most importantly, there is no toilet paper.

Qin Jianye pulled down a few relatively clean old newspapers from the wall and threw them to Qin Siyue: "My daughter, just use them!"

You have to compromise. These days, except for working couples in the city, who can afford pink toilet paper?

Didn't you see the Qin family still using sticks? They need to scrape their butts more often!

Qin Siyue passed by the roasted rat on the table again and felt that the palm-sized piece of meat was tempting her.

My eyes unconsciously glanced upwards, and my saliva was about to flow out.

Qin Siyue raised his sleeve to wipe the corner of his mouth, and rolled his eyes at Qin Jianye's interested gaze.

"My daughter, why don't you stop struggling and just follow your heart? How good is that?"

Qin Siyue curled his lips: "No, I want to go home!"

Who wouldn't want to reply to this?

The large flat at home was just completed less than three months ago.

It's warm and cozy, and there's a table of delicious food and wine packed from a five-star hotel. Just thinking about it makes me happy.

But they can't go back!

When Qin Siyue thought of this, his heart broke and tears fell down.

"Oh, why are you crying again?"

Qin Jianye raised his hand to wipe away Qin Siyue's tears, feeling that his daughter's face was not slippery at all: "It would be great if our house was here. There are so many skin care products stored in it. I'm sure I can restore my daughter Yueyue's tender face."

Qin Siyue sobbed: "So, you really know something, right?"

Qin Jianye evaded the question: "Why say that? I've already put it on, so I have to face reality."

Chen Yunwei hugged Qin Siyue into her arms and said with a smile: "It's been a long time since my girl cried, huh?

Look at these little arms and legs, hey, they're great, they make me relive the joy of raising a daughter!"

Qin Siyue knew that her parents were comforting her. She nodded and buried her face in Chen Yunwei's armpit.

I calmed down and looked up, trying to make excuses: "I don't know why I'm crying so much."

Qin Jianye smiled: "I see, he has shrunk into a child, with shallow eye sockets."

Qin Siyue nodded, indicating that was the case.

***

The sunlight shining on the earth did not bring any warmth, but instead made the Qingshan Brigade look even more desolate.

Qin Jianye suddenly said, "The kid from the Wei family should be in the car now."

Qin Siyue nodded: "It's great to have food on the train so we don't have to go hungry!"

Qin Jianye didn't think so.

He has the memories of his original body and knows that the past few years have been particularly chaotic.

Because of natural disasters, food is scarce everywhere. When people are forced into desperate situations, they will not care about laws and morals.

There were many carjackers on the railway tracks, stealing luggage and food, and it was impossible to control them.

Due to various reasons, the relief food distributed from above was delayed in reaching its destination.

The supplies on the train are probably insufficient.

But the good thing is that the troops have food. Even if they can't fill their stomachs, they can still meet their basic physiological needs.

You won’t starve to death.

"So, my girl, do you regret it? If you had followed Wei Xu, you would probably be full by now."

Qin Siyue didn't care: "Maybe they can't swallow this breath and leave me to live alone in the old house.

After all, I'm only thirteen, not yet of legal marriage age!"

Qin Jianye laughed heartily, thinking it was true. Wei Xu was only eighteen, and no matter how promising he was, it was impossible for him to bring his daughter with him to the army.

At this moment, at Xiangyang Railway Station, Wei Xu, carrying his luggage and holding his train ticket, was waiting for his dusty comrade Wang Zhiqiang.

"Platoon leader, here I come!" Wang Zhiqiang showed his big white teeth and smiled brightly.

The youthful energy on his body was out of tune with the gray station.

Wei Xu nodded and shoved the ticket into his hand. After a moment's hesitation, he asked, "Is there anything to eat?"

"How could there be any? I packed a few steamed buns and left them all at home.

When my mother heard that I was leaving, she brought all 23 members of her family to see me off at the village entrance.

They were afraid that I would change my mind and stay home to compete with them for food."

"Then why are you so happy?"

"Hey, now that I'm back in the team, I'll have food to eat!"

These days, life is not as peaceful as it was in later times. Many people join the army because they can’t afford to eat.

Wei Xu nodded and said nothing more. He waited for the train to arrive and followed the crowd, leaving the place where he had lived for ten years.

***

Lao Qin's family didn't cook at noon, or rather, the entire Qingshan Brigade didn't cook.

Those who have food will save every meal they can, and those who don’t have food will either lie down at home or wander around, looking for smoke coming out of someone’s house and rush over to grab a bite to eat.

Why do we say it is robbery? Because food is in short supply and no one will lend it to us.

But we have to rob, human life is at stake, and our own life is definitely more important than that of others.

Lao Qin's house had been robbed, so he usually didn't cook during the day. He would wait until late at night when everyone was asleep and then cook a little food.
