Guo Youxing and his wife said they had nothing to buy.
After dinner, Deng Qingling went back to her room to wash up. After the lights went out, she entered the space to prepare things to sell tomorrow and planned to sell something in the town. She didn't want to be targeted the first time she went there, so this time she went mainly to test the waters.
She rummaged through the warehouse and finally decided to take 30 kilograms of noodles, 30 kilograms of flour, 50 kilograms of rice, 100 kilograms of cornmeal, 10 freshly slaughtered chickens and ducks, 20 sausages, and 100 kilograms of sweet potatoes and taro, some of which had no trademarks, and packed them in several snakeskin bags.
Let’s sell these first. There are too many at once and it will attract attention.
After packing up my things, I felt a little hungry, so I ate a bun and drank a box of milk, then left the space. I went back to bed and fell asleep soon after.
The next morning, Deng Qingling had breakfast, said goodbye to her parents-in-law, and then took a ox cart to the town.
She found a public restroom and seeing that no one was there, she took out the most conservative black outfit from the restroom and put it on. She applied foundation to match her natural skin tone and some blemishes, then put on makeup to look like a woman in her twenties.
Wearing a black and white checkered cloth on her head and old-fashioned Liberation shoes she got from the space, Deng Qingling was very satisfied with her outfit.
Deng Qingling learned about the situation in the town from the original owner's memory. The town was not big, with only a few hundred households, two factories, two supply and marketing cooperatives, a grain and oil station, a state-owned restaurant, a purchasing station, and a health center.
Deng Qingling walked around a few times to get a feel for the prices and decided to try her luck in the residential area behind the hospital. There were red brick and tile houses there, and most of the people there were families of factory workers. Most of them should be in good financial condition, so she could exchange some bills.
She walked to the end of the street, found a house's door, and knocked. A woman in her fifties opened the door for her.
Deng Qingling saw the puzzled look on her face and glanced behind her. There was a child about two years old in the yard.
"Sister, who are you looking for?" the woman asked. She looked at the young girl in front of her and felt a little confused. She didn't even know her, so why did she come to our house?
Deng Qingling took off the snakeskin bag on her back and deliberately opened a corner of it so that the woman could see what was inside. She said softly, "Amu, I'm sorry. I came to visit my relatives and took the wrong road. I wanted to ask you something."
The woman's eyes lit up when she saw the things. After looking around and seeing that there was no one around, she pulled Deng Qingling in and quickly closed the door.
"Sister, come in with me and have a drink of water first, I will tell you slowly."
Deng Qingling was pulled in by her, still a little confused and startled, but she remained calm and said with a smile, "Okay, thank you, Am."
"Come in and sit down. I'll get you a glass of water."
"Thank you, Mom," Deng Qingling took the water and smiled.
"By the way, Mom, do you know where Zhou Tugou lives? I only remember that it's behind the hospital. I can't remember which house it is?" Deng Qingling said guiltily, not knowing whether this person existed.
"There are two people named Tugou, one is surnamed Liang and the other surnamed Zhou. Zhou Tugou lives in the first house on the back street. I don't know if he is the one you are looking for." The woman frowned. Are they going to visit relatives with so many things?
I wonder if I can buy some and give my little grandson something good to eat.
