Chapter 118 A Different Autumn Outing

On the way home, the children were chattering all the time.

"Mom, can you bring us here next time?" Guo Haochen turned around and asked.

Guo Haochen and Guo Haoxi walked in front, while Deng Qingling and Guo Ninghuan walked behind.

"It depends on your performance. If you perform well, I will bring you here. If you don't perform well, you will stay at home and you won't have any snacks to eat." Deng Qingling raised her eyebrows and smiled.

"We will be obedient." Guo Haochen immediately said in a cute way.

"Brother is right." Guo Haoxi nodded.

Soon the mother and her children arrived home.

Deng Qingling saw that her mother-in-law had not returned yet, and she knew without hesitation that she had gone out to collect grass for the pigs.

Deng Qingling asked Guo Haochen to go to the vegetable garden to pick two cucumbers and loofahs, and then they started to cook dinner.

First, clean the pot and cook the corn and multi-grain rice, then take out the pork and cut it into palm-sized pieces. Wash the rest, apply salt on it and hang it in the well. Just cook a piece in the evening.

"Mom, where should we put these?" Guo Haochen walked into the kitchen with the cucumbers in his clothes and asked.

"Just put it on the ground. It will be cooked soon." Deng Qingling said without even raising her head, and continued to cut the pork with her head down.

Guo Haochen put the cucumber down but didn't leave immediately. Instead, he walked over to Deng Qingling and said coquettishly, "Mom, can you give me some longan? I only need a little bit, just a little bit."

"Go get it yourself and share some with your younger brothers and sisters." Deng Qingling agreed readily.

"I know!"

Guo Haochen responded and ran to Deng Qingling's room. He grabbed two handfuls of longan and muttered to himself, "1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8. One more to go."

After saying that, he reached out and took out another one, then counted it again.

When he counted enough, he put the money in his clothes and ran out to find the twins.

After Liang Xueying came back from collecting grass for the pigs, Guo Youxing followed her back soon after.

Now that everyone is here, it’s time to start eating.

The meal in the evening was simple: a cold cucumber salad, an egg custard, a loofah and lean meat soup, and then corn and multi-grain rice.

After dinner, Deng Qingling asked Guo Haochen to take out the longan and have some fruit after the meal.

"These longans are so juicy and sweet. It would be great if we could grow them ourselves," said Liang Xueying.

If I could grow them, the children at home would have endless longans to eat.

Deng Qingling thought that based on modern history, reform and opening up would take a few years.

It’s almost time to plant them now, and by the time of reform and opening up, the longan trees will be in bloom and bearing fruit.

Deng Qingling said softly: "Plant it secretly behind the house, I think no one will see it." Otherwise, plant something there to cover it for a few years.

Liang Xueying: "That's fine. We can build a melon shed there to provide shade." It's unknown how many years it will take for the melons to bloom and bear fruit.

They acted immediately. Deng Qingling and Liang Xueying took advantage of the night and went to the back of the house to plant the longan seeds.

Then, wait for it to blossom and bear fruit.

As time slowly slips away, August comes quietly.

As we entered August, the weather became much cooler.

The weather is clear and cool in autumn, which is a good time for an autumn outing. It's a pity that the timing is not right, otherwise I could take the children on a picnic.

What a waste of such good weather.

Speaking of the autumn outing, Deng Qingling suddenly remembered that it was already August and the chestnuts should be ripe.

So, Deng Qingling took out some snacks and took the children to find their grandmother.

I gave the snacks to the old lady and asked her to give some to the children from time to time while she went to pick chestnuts. She also told the children to be obedient and that she would roast chestnuts for them when she got home.

When they heard there was delicious food, the children agreed readily and said they would wait for her at home.

Then, Deng Qingling went home, found a pair of Liberation shoes, put them on, took a sack, carried a bamboo basket on her back, and went out.

Deng Qingling walked from the back mountain to the main mountain. When she passed the outskirts of the mountain, she saw several villagers picking chestnuts, persimmons and wood ear mushrooms.

Because it is autumn now, there are a lot of mountain products on the mountain, so people have nothing to do, so they all go up the mountain to pick mountain products. If they don’t sell them, they can eat them at home. At least they can be used as a dish in winter.

Deng Qingling walked and stopped all the way into the depths of the mountains. On the way, she saw a lot of white-flowered Peucedanum, so she stopped, pulled them up by the roots, tied them into a bundle and put them in the space, and took them home to dry and make herbal tea.

Deng Qingling walked under the chestnut tree and looked up to see a fluffy little squirrel with brown, gray and yellow stripes on a branch. It was holding a chestnut in its hands and gnawing on it. Its little mouth was bulging and it looked very cute.

Deng Qingling accidentally stepped on a dead branch and accidentally scared the little squirrel. Soon the little squirrel jumped around on the branch and disappeared from her sight in the blink of an eye.

Seeing the little squirrel running away, Deng Qingling put down the backpack, then climbed up the tree in a few seconds, chose a tree trunk of just the right thickness, hooked his feet on the trunk to fix the position, held the branches with both hands, and was about to shake the tree.

Deng Qingling suddenly remembered that she didn't bring a hat and there was a high possibility that the chestnut would hit her head. She quickly found a helmet from the space and put it on so that she wouldn't be afraid of being hit on the head.

Deng Qingling grabbed the branch again and shook it desperately, even her body began to shake.

After a while, chestnuts fell all over the ground.

Suddenly a chestnut fell and hit Deng Qingling's shoulder. The small thorns on the chestnut shell pierced her clothes and pierced her shoulder firmly.

Deng Qingling screamed in pain, "Ah, ah, it hurts!

Why am I so stubborn that I have to shake the chestnuts myself? Why not just hit them with a bamboo stick?" He said as he took the chestnuts off his shoulder.

She looked down and saw chestnuts all over the ground, so she stopped shaking the tree and quickly got down.

I took out a small iron shovel from the space, threw the chestnuts on the ground together and piled them into a pile. It took me about ten minutes to finish picking them up.

Deng Qingling put her hands on her hips and smiled slightly, saying, "It's really fun to pick up these. There should be a sack full of them."

After saying that, he shoveled the chestnuts into a sack. Soon the sack was full, and there were still quite a few left on the ground.

Deng Qingling stepped on it directly, and rubbed the chestnuts just right with her Liberation shoes. With a little force, the chestnut shells were rubbed open, revealing the dark brown and shiny fruits inside. There were also some tender chestnuts that were light brown or white with green.

Deng Qingling bent down, picked up a few tender chestnuts, peeled the shells and stuffed them into her mouth without stopping.

Peeling and eating chestnuts while rubbing them, what a wonderful autumn outing, Deng Qingling thought happily.

It didn't take long for all the chestnuts on the ground to be rubbed.

I stopped rubbing the chestnuts in the sack. It was getting dark, so I better go back early.

Thinking of this, Deng Qingling put the big sack and the chestnuts on the ground back into the space, and quickly went down the mountain with the empty backpack on his back.

I didn't see anyone else along the way, I guess they have already gone home.
