The captain was extremely apologetic and humiliated.

Li Xiangdong picked up the meat and put it into his mouth.
"Don't be impatient, let it cool down. If you burn your tongue again, everyone will fight with you for it."
"It's like Chinese New Year. I never dared to imagine it before."
Old Lady Li said, "Remember how good your uncle is to you. If it weren't for you, you wouldn't be able to eat this meat."
Several children said in unison: "We know that if we follow our uncle we can have meat to eat."
Li Mingqing said, "My little uncle doesn't have that much ability. If you want to eat meat, you have to work hard to earn it, okay?"
"Yeah, I know."
The children really felt that they could eat meat as long as they followed Li Mingqing, and they could eat delicious food every time they went to his house.
The whole family ate their fill and could smell the meat on the road.
Many children cried out of greed.
Some old women started cursing: "Who ate meat? How could they be so wicked as to let the smell of meat fill the streets?"
"I think the smell of meat must be coming from Old Li's house."

The old women cursed a few times to vent their anger and then went back holding the children's ears.
The captain's house was surprisingly quiet.
