"Why don't you go in?"
"I have no money and I'm dirty. I'm afraid others will look down on me, so I want to wait until there are fewer people around before going in," the child said very sensibly.
Sun Jiaxue felt heartbroken when she heard this.
What a poor child, he has to endure such burns.
"Come on, I'll take you in."
"Thank you, Auntie. Come in later. I'm dirty."
The child lowered his head again after he finished speaking.
"No, the doctor won't dislike you," she said, holding the child's hand and walking towards the outpatient clinic.
Sun Jiaxue often comes to the hospital, and the reception nurse in the outpatient department knows her.
I saw her bringing in a dirty child with blisters on his face that were obviously caused by burns.
The nurse asked, "Is it a burn?"
"Yes, you help me deal with it."
"Come on, little friend, come with me into the examination room," the nurse said with a smile.
The child looked at the nurse and saw that she didn't move, then looked at Sun Jiaxue. When he saw her nod, he followed the nurse to the treatment room.
Sun Jiaxue went to the second floor to find Li Mingqing.
"Wife, is there something wrong with the company?"
"Everything is fine at the company. Eight employees are going to Shanghai. I came here to talk to you about Du Yifeng. He is also going to Shanghai."
Li Mingqing asked in confusion: "He's going to Shanghai?"
"Yes, he said he wanted to go and witness the successful opening of the branch factory."
"Is he not at home looking after the baby?"
"His parents and parents-in-law are taking care of the baby. Fu Jia won't go, so he doesn't need to take care of the child," Sun Jiaxue relayed what Du Yifeng said to him.
Li Mingqing smiled helplessly: "When I went to the company before, he looked so happy when talking about his child. I thought he was reluctant to leave his child to go on a business trip."
"By the way, I saw a child at the hospital entrance. He had blisters on the left side of his face from a burn and is being treated on the first floor. Do you have any burn ointment?"
"No parents?"
He asked as he took out the burn ointment from the drawer.
"He's dirty, so he must be an orphan, or his parents are busy and he lives alone."
"I'll go with you to see the child."
Nursing clinic on the first floor.
The nurse carefully cleaned the child's left face.
"If it hurts, just bear with it."
"Nurse, it doesn't hurt," the child said with tears in his eyes.
Seeing his pitiful little appearance, the nurse made her originally gentle movements even gentler.
After the treatment, the nurse took the child out.
Sun Jiaxue praised, "Little boy, you are so great! Come, let me put some burn ointment on you. This burn ointment is very effective. After applying it, soak it in water for two or three days and the burn will go away."
The child looked at her with sparkling eyes and said, "Thank you, Auntie."
"You're welcome. When you get home, apply the burn ointment yourself, morning, noon, and night."
He said obediently, "I know."
Li Mingqing turned around and went upstairs. In less than two minutes, he came down again with two more pieces of clothes and a small bag of food in his hands.
He put the coat on the child.
How can I not wear clothes? Those torn pants will tear if I put a little force on them, and I can't wear them at all.
"Little boy, are you a girl or a boy?"
"My grandma calls me the eldest grandson," the child said with a smile.
"That's the boy, where's your grandmother?"
"Grandma went out to collect rags. She asked me to wait at home, but my face hurt so much. I remembered that grandma said this hospital was run by a kind uncle, so I came here by myself."
The child trusted Li Mingqing very much and answered whatever he was asked.
"Are you and grandma the only ones at home?"
"Yes, we lived in a small house. Grandma took me to various places to pick up trash and sell it for money to buy snacks for me."
He said the snack and couldn't help licking his lips.
The snacks are so fragrant and sweet.
Sun Jiaxue asked, "What's your name?"
"Zhao Tiedan."
As soon as he said the name, his stomach growled at an inopportune moment.
Li Mingqing: "Are you hungry?"
"Uncle, I'm not hungry. Grandma left some white flour porridge for me this morning."
He and Sun Jiaxue couldn't help but laugh when they heard this, which was both funny and sad.
"Come on, uncle will take you to dinner."
“No, no,” Zhao Tiedan refused. “Give me clothes and treat my injuries. I can’t go out to eat anymore. I have to go home, otherwise grandma will be worried if she can’t find me.”
Sun Jiaxue asked, "Where is your home? We'll take you back."
"Thank you, Auntie. I can go back by myself. Here is the medical fee," Zhao Tiedan took out a wrinkled penny with a dime missing.
"That's enough."
Li Mingqing took the money.
Zhao Tiedan smiled and said, "I'm going home first."
"Here, take the clothes and have your grandma alter them so you can wear them. Here are some candies and peaches, and this half a cookie."
"Uncle, I can't take it. Grandma told me not to ask for other people's things casually."
Li Mingqing advised: "Your one cent is too much. I can't make the change so I can only give you this much."
"Is one cent too much?" Zhao Tiedan was not very sure.
"There are a lot, take it," Li Mingqing wrapped the milk candies and other things in his clothes and stuffed them into his arms.
Zhao Tiedan swallowed happily and said, "Bye."
He was extremely greedy, especially for White Rabbit milk candy.
I really want to eat it but I want to take it home and eat it with my grandma.
I thought the matter was over, but unexpectedly, Zhao Tiedan and grandma came to the hospital the next day.
Grandma Zhao's back was hunched, almost at a 90-degree angle to the ground.
His hair was gray, his face was covered with wrinkles, one eye was blind, and he was wearing a faded short-sleeved shirt.
A staggering old man and a naive child.
As soon as I entered the outpatient clinic, I received a lot of attention.
