Chapter 9 Three Hundred Jin

Erniu and Sanniu looked at Li Mingqing sitting on the bed and smiled brightly.

"Uncle, when will you take us to catch sparrows again?"

Li Mingqing pinched their little faces and said, "In a couple of days, your uncle will be able to get out of bed and play with you."

"That's great."

The two sisters clapped their hands happily.

They always remembered the sparrows that Li Mingqing caught for them, which were delicious when roasted over fire.

I haven't had any meat all year round, so a sparrow may be small, but it is still a piece of meat.

"Uncle, I dug some wild vegetables today. Come to our place for dinner later."

"Your aunt and I just ate."

The two children looked at Li Mingqing and Sun Jiaxue with regret.

The child's imagination was so wild that Sun Mingqing could hardly keep up.

Li Danniu is busy in the kitchen.

His tiny body was not even as tall as the stove, and he stepped on a wooden stake, struggling to scrub the pot.

Li Xiangdong and Li Xiangxi sat at the stove and watched.

"Sister, when will the meal be ready? I'm so hungry."

"It will be done soon. Xiangdong, go to the door and get some straw to start the fire."

Li Xiangdong ran out happily and bumped into Zhang Lihua.

After registering her work points, she trotted back.

"What are you doing? You're so impatient."

"Mom, I'll go get some straw to light the fire," he said innocently.

Zhang Lihua was a little angry when she heard this.

"Big girl!"

When she heard someone calling her, Li Da Niu came out immediately, "Mom, you're back so soon?"

"How could you let your brother get the grass alone? Can't you come out and get it?"

Li Danniu lowered her head in grievance and said nothing more.

Zhang Lihua became even angrier and twisted Da Niu's ear.

"Can't I even say a few words to your mother? You're such an ungrateful person. I've raised you up for nothing, and you're never easy to worry about."

After she finished scolding, she went to work at the stove.

When other people come back, they will probably have to fight over the stove.

Li Danniu wiped her tears, took a handful of straw and squatted at the stove to make a fire.

The two brothers were playing carefree in the yard.

Li Mingqing and Sun Jiaxue, who were in the room, heard the whole thing but were not in a position to speak.

It is natural for people to educate their own children.

Even if there are objections, they have to keep them to themselves. After all, Li Mingqing cannot take care of himself at the moment.

Besides, in the village, the Li family treats their daughters very well, while the girls of other families have no food to eat, not even soup.

There was a clang in the kitchen and Zhang Lihua returned to the house carrying the prepared food.

Li Lizhu and Yang Daya came back together.

"Second sister-in-law, I'm quick. I'll use the stove first. You can cook later."

As she spoke, she rushed towards the stove, fearing that Li Lizhu would snatch it from her.

Li Lizhu glanced at her and went into the house to look for Erniu and Sanniu. When she entered the house, she only saw wild vegetables on the table and no one in sight.

As soon as she went out, she vaguely heard the voices of two children coming from Li Mingqing's room.

"Fourth brother, are you bothered by the two kids?"

"Third sister-in-law didn't do anything. It's a pity that the two children are accompanying me. It's so boring."

"As long as you don't mind their noise."

Li Mingyuan came over after a while.

"Fourth brother, Third brother, I'll carry you out to bask in the sun. Are you willing to go out?"

"Sorry to bother you, Third Brother."

Sun Jiaxue quickly placed the bench outside the house against the wall.

Li Mingqing felt very comfortable sitting on the bench basking in the sun.

"Mingxue, please take these two potatoes over to your parents when they come back."

"Well, what if Dad and Mom ask me where I'm from?"

"I'll keep my thoughts to myself and definitely not ask."

His mother had known about this for a long time and would never ask questions, let alone stop Old Man Li.

As soon as Mrs. Li came back, she saw Li Mingqing basking in the sun.

"My little son, I'm basking in the sun." He happily patted the dirt off his body.

"It's good for your health to get out in the sun. Once my son's leg is healed, I'll definitely let you enjoy it."

Yang Daya, who was cooking, burst out laughing when she heard this.

"It's really funny. I don't know when you'll be okay. Mom has suffered a lot for you, and you've tortured our family too."

"Why don't I remember seeing Third Sister-in-law look at me once?

Fourth brother, I am so sad."

"Humph, I don't owe you anything, why should I go to see you?"

"Third sister-in-law is absolutely right. I hope you can say the same in the future. But please don't come to me crying and beg me."

Yang Daya rolled her eyes and said, "If you want me to beg you, wait for the next life."

After saying that, he took the bowl and went back to his room.

Old Mrs. Li and Old Man Li drank water in the room to satisfy their hunger.

The old couple didn't eat much in the morning. They didn't think about cooking lunch, so they just had to eat a few mouthfuls of the leftover wheat bran.

The corn grits I was given were intended to be given to Li Mingqing.

My own son can’t go to work, and I definitely can’t watch him starve to death.

"Dad, Mom, Brother Mingqing asked me to bring this over."

She whispered and pulled out two potatoes from under her sleeve.

When Mrs. Li saw this, she immediately stood up and closed the door, fearing that she would be seen.

Old man Li stared at the potatoes on the table with his eyes wide open in disbelief. How could there be such juicy potatoes in the early spring?

It’s quite big, about the size of a palm.

"Where did it come from?"

"Old man, stop talking. Don't ask what your son will give you in the future."

Old Mrs. Li pointed at Old Man Li earnestly.

The old couple who had lived together for decades immediately understood what it meant.

"Jiaxue, if there's food in the future, you two can just keep it for yourselves. Your father and I are so old, how can we let ourselves go hungry?"

Li Jiaxue looked at Old Lady Li and then at the bowl of boiled water on the table.
