Chapter 11 Discovery

May 6th is the beginning of summer.

When Jiang Lan got up in the morning, she didn't dare to ask for food. She took a cold steamed bun from the pot and left.

Jiang Jun was beaten for no reason. His body was burning with pain, and his head was swollen and painful. He didn't sleep well that night, and he kept thinking about how to turn this unfavorable situation around.

The original owner, Jiang Jun, had been brainwashed by Zhang Xiuying for a long time, believing that she had to listen to her parents obediently. Faced with Zhang Xiuying's sudden beating, she didn't even have the strength to fight back. What's more, the physical strength of the two was not at the same level at all, and the gap was obvious. Naturally, she became Zhang Xiuying's punching bag.

Jiang Jun thought bitterly, she had so many theories about workplace stealth, and she had even passed the sixth-degree black belt exam in Taekwondo. As long as she was willing, even with her small body, she could create a world for herself!

After some thought, I decided to improve my physical fitness first so I could have the energy to carry out my plan. I didn't dare take tetracycline tablets, but I could still take penicillin injections.

Jiang Jun gritted his teeth and got up, took the penicillin box, and walked to the backyard to greet Zhang Xiuying: "I'm going to the health center to get a shot."

She didn't call her mother, she felt she couldn't say it. Zhang Xiuying didn't deserve the warmest name in the world!

Zhang Xiuying was busy tending to the vegetable seedlings. When she heard Jiang Yun's voice, she was furious and said, "Get lost!" without even looking up.

In order to buy a bicycle, Jiang Yonghua gave the family ten yuan less in living expenses this month. Next month and the month after that, he'll give five yuan less. How can anyone live like this? It's all this useless girl's fault: "It's better to die out there and never come back! Don't think you don't have to eat just because your dad agreed to buy you a bicycle! Get lost!"

Jiang Yun was so angry that his vision went dark.

Can parents be so rude and unreasonably as to beat and scold their children?

She secretly swore that she must not endure this anger in vain!

As she turned and passed the stove, Jiang Jun also took a cold steamed bun from the pot on the stove. She had been feeling unwell all night, her energy had long been depleted, and her blood sugar was so low that her hands and feet were weak. She still had to eat what she needed to eat; she wasn't stupid enough to refuse.

When I went out, the alley was quiet and the neighbors' doors were all locked at this time.

Jiang Jun breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't want her neighbors to see her in such a disheveled state. The most demoralizing thing was to be pitied by others.

From a distance, Jiang Jun saw the nurse from the clinic standing in front of the door. She touched the right corner of her forehead, and the information that popped up in her mind was that the nurse was called Wei Chunyan, also a child of the compound, and lived only two bungalows away from her home.

"Xiaojun, what's wrong with you?" Wei Chunyan took the initiative to greet her: "Why are your eyes swollen?"

Jiang Jun raised the injection box in his left hand and said, "Sister Chunyan, I'll give you the injection."

Wei Chunyan took the injection and prescription, looked at them carefully, and said to Jiang Jun, "Wait a moment, I'm just disinfecting the syringe needle over there."

After entering the clinic, Wei Chunyan asked Jiang Yun to sit down and lifted her hair to look at the wound. She felt sympathy for the unfortunate Jiang Yun. If it weren't for Doctor Chen's prescription, she would have thought that Jiang Yun was beaten like this by Zhang Xiuying. "Can you still eat? I'll give you some glucose later, so you won't be so hungry."

Jiang Jun snorted softly, "Thank you, Sister Chunyan."

"Jiang Jun, let me disinfect the bump on the back of your head first." Wei Chunyan opened the caps of the iodine and gentian violet bottles. "Mercurochrome looks like blood. I'll apply gentian violet to you. If you don't look closely, you won't be able to see it."

Jiang Jun saw two books spread out on the table against the wall: "Sister Chunyan, are you still reading?"

Wei Chunyan smiled and said, "My mother asked me to apply to a medical school so that I can become a military doctor like her."

Wei Chunyan's mother was a military doctor in the division's field hospital. She used her connections to arrange for Wei Chunyan to work in the clinic in the compound. It was a comfortable and clean place, with people coming and going as acquaintances in the compound. She also had more time to review her lessons and prepare for the medical school entrance exam.

Jiang Jun expressed envy. She was sure that her mother was someone else's. "Sister Chunyan, you're going to be a military doctor? That's great!"

Wei Chunyan curled her lips and said, "I don't care. Being a doctor means working night shifts, which is tiring."

Really, the better the conditions, the more pretentious people are.

Jiang Jun wanted to read a book: "Sister Chunyan, can I take a look at your book?"

She simply wanted to understand the current state of education. The middle school textbooks at home were relatively simple, often interspersed with inspirational slogans. As for many textbooks beyond elementary and middle school, the average person couldn't even see them, let alone borrow them.

"Just take a look. I have to put it away quickly. If anyone sees it, they'll think I'm deserting my duty." Wei Chunyan initially disagreed, but seeing Jiang Jun's pitiful look, she couldn't bear to refuse him. She had to warn him, "Don't tell anyone I have books here!"

This set of medical soldier textbooks was obtained by her mother, and in order to prevent others from seeing it, she even wrapped the book covers with brown paper.

Jiang Jun flipped through the book, "Battlefield Rescue," which was written in the 1960s. It looked simple, but it contained practical content. "It's quite interesting."

Wei Chunyan took out a piece of rubber tubing and said, "Go to the inner room. I'll give you an IV of glucose first, otherwise I can't do the skin test. I'll draw the curtain for you. You can sit inside and read slowly. Just don't make a sound."

Jiang Jun followed in and asked Wei Chunyan to put the IV drip on the back of her right hand, freeing up her left hand to turn the pages of the book.

In "Battlefield Rescue", there are some stories about using all the available items around to make medical equipment, and one or two simple hand-drawn illustrations. Jiang Jun read it with great interest.

After a quick glance, I realized that rescue on the battlefield is much more difficult than what is portrayed in the movies.

The content of this textbook is almost all about manual rescue, without any medical facilities, relying purely on human creation and utilization of opportunities.

Jiang Jun thought as she watched. All the wilderness first aid training she had received was based on the premise of having sufficient equipment, including advanced communication and transportation equipment, so she could wait for rescue. If a soldier were to be injured in front of her now, she would be helpless.

So, this is what you had to learn to be a female soldier in the 1970s?

She thought that being a soldier meant standing guard and fighting in battles.

In this comparison, it is safer to go to high school and college, then find an office job and return to your familiar profession.

It seems that the path of study she asked Jiang Yonghua for was right.

Wei Chunyan sat in the outer room, rubbing a cotton swab, and from time to time asked her, "Xiaojun, does the needle hurt?"

This is because they are afraid that her blood sugar will be too low and she will faint.

"Xiao Wei, who are you talking to?" A soft female voice sounded.

Wei Chunyan's voice immediately changed from casual to respectful: "Auntie Ye, you're here! There's a family member inside who's receiving an IV drip."

Jiang Yun immediately put the book away and stuffed it under his butt.

I just listened to Wei Chunyan taking Aunt Ye's blood pressure and listening to her heart and lungs, and then prescribed two sleeping pills. She then politely walked her out the door and came back to the inner room to check on her IV drip.

"Sister Chunyan, you scared me," Jiang Jun pulled out the book. "Who was that just now?"

Wei Chunyan smiled brightly: "That was Aunt Ye from Teacher Chen's family."

The wife of the highest-ranking leader in this compound, Ye Qingyin.
