In the summer in the north, the sun rises very early.
Jiang Jun was afraid that she would miss the time to wake up, so she left a gap in the curtains. As long as there was light outside, she would wake up immediately.
Unexpectedly, she was woken up by Li Caixia's gentle push: "Teacher Xiao Jiang, it's almost dawn."
Jiang Jun didn't want to wake up: "I want to stay in bed!"
After a while, Li Caixia said softly, "Then just lie there. Jiang Yuan will come over and feel your pulse. It's very gentle and won't disturb you."
The voice was as gentle as a mother coaxing her baby.
Jiang Jun closed his eyes and agreed vaguely: "Okay."
She felt like a little child, lying in bed pretending to be asleep, waiting for her father to come and pick her up.
Jiang Yuan walked in quietly, opened the curtains, stared at the morning light shining through the sky, sat down on the stool beside the bed, and put his fingers on Jiang Jun's wrist that was exposed outside the towel blanket.
His fingers were warm and unexpectedly soft.
Jiang Yun only felt a trickle of water flowing from her wrist through her arm, into her heart, and then from her heart to her eye sockets, gushing out.
She lay quietly, closing her eyes and crying silently.
Li Caixia covered her mouth and stood aside against the wall, too nervous to breathe. She looked at the orderly Xin Long guarding the door, then at the orderly Li Gen guarding the window, fearing that someone would suddenly appear and disturb her.
Jiang Yuan's fingers moved gently on Jiang Yun's wrist, then moved two inches upwards, increased his strength, and pressed down hard.
Jiang Yun felt extremely comfortable, as if the trickle had turned into a stream, gurgling forward.
The sky gradually brightened and sunlight shone through behind the clouds.
Jiang Yuan glanced at the sky, moved his fingers upwards, stopped at his elbow, and added hidden force to his fingers.
Jiang Jun felt that the power penetrated into his bones, and a heat began to spread in his body.
The sun is coming out.
"Alright!" Jiang Yuan withdrew his hand, stood up quietly, and walked gently to the door. He instructed Li Caixia: "Use warm water to wash Teacher Jiang. Drink white porridge and eat white noodles for breakfast. Both should be warm."
Li Caixia covered her mouth and nodded repeatedly, then blinked to indicate that she understood everything.
…
Jiang Jun took another comfortable nap. When he woke up, it was already past seven o'clock. The treetops in the garden outside the window were shining with sunlight. There was no oppressive heat, only the coolness of being surrounded by green shade.
She drank her porridge and asked Li Caixia, "Where's Jiang Yuan?"
Li Caixia whispered, "He's resting! I heard from Li Gen that Jiang Yuan didn't sleep after taking a shower last night. He's been sitting cross-legged on the bed. In the middle of the night, when it was almost dawn, he woke them up and came to take your pulse. He hasn't slept all night, so he must be sleeping soundly now!"
Jiang Jun was stunned for a moment: "Oh!"
Li Caixia sat beside him and said mysteriously, "Teacher Jiang, I didn't expect Jiang Yuan to be such a good doctor!"
Jiang Jun recalled the warm feeling and said, "Yes, it is."
Li Caixia smiled and said, "So he really is a miracle doctor! Staff Officer Chen was absolutely right!"
Jiang Jun scoffed at Li Caixia's blind following: "It's just taking a pulse, how can it be magical?"
The mysterious worship without any reason is disgusting.
Li Caixia pointed at the empty bowl and said, "Staff Officer Chen said you only drank half a bowl of porridge and ate half a steamed bun, so he asked me to find a way to get you more meals. Look, I haven't even tried to persuade you yet, and you've already drunk a bowl of porridge and eaten two steamed buns!"
He eats noticeably faster and no longer has difficulty swallowing food. It makes me feel so accomplished.
Jiang Jun blinked: "Really!"
I don't remember how I ate it.
Li Caixia stood up to clear the dishes and chopsticks: "Teacher Xiao Jiang, Staff Officer Chen said that after breakfast, you can sit for ten minutes and then go out for a walk with you."
Jiang Jun chuckled. "You remember it so clearly. What else did Staff Officer Chen tell you? Did you write it down?"
Li Caixia ran to her bedside and pulled out a palm-sized brown paper notebook from under her pillow. "I've memorized everything. Make a check mark when you do one."
Jiang Jun took a look and praised: "Not bad, good habit!"
Li Caixia immediately became complacent: "A good memory is not as good as a bad pen!"
Jiang Jun teased, "Did I snore last night? Did Chief of Staff Chen ask you to write that down?"
Li Caixia shook her head: "It's so quiet now. This is the best sleep I've had in all the time I've known you. You used to dream, cry, and talk in your sleep."
Jiang Yun was sweating: "Why have I never heard you mention it before?"
Suddenly she felt very nervous. Why had Chen Yuanwu never told her that she would dream?
Li Caixia tilted her head and thought: "Who doesn't dream when they sleep? Doesn't everyone talk in their sleep?"
Jiang Jun was speechless: "It's okay, let Jiang Yuan take your pulse too."
Li Caixia shook her head like a rattle: "No!" It was still dark, and she was lying in bed, letting a man touch her wrist. The thought of it made her blush and her heart beat fast: "Teacher Xiao Jiang, I'm not sick!"
Jiang Yun looked at Li Caixia's bewildered look and felt better. "Let's go for a walk. The landmine flowers in the garden outside are blooming. They are a different color than the ones in our garden. I'll go take a look."
Li Caixia hurriedly stopped him: "You can't look at flowers, you have to look at trees, or fruit trees with fruits!"
Jiang Jun was at a loss for words: "Who told you what?"
Li Caixia said seriously: "It was Aunt Zhao who said that if you look at flowers, you will have a daughter, and if you look at green fruits, you will have a son."
Jiang Yun deliberately contradicted him: "My dad also grows flowers!"
I'm already three months pregnant. Although the photo hasn't shown whether it's a boy or a girl, the gender has already been determined. How can it be decided by looking at the flowers or the fruits?
Li Caixia was anxious: "Uncle Jiang planted melon vines, and the harvest was cucumbers!"
Strangely enough, Jiang Yonghua built a small pond with a few bricks, shoveled a few shovels of soil, inserted two bamboos against the wall, and scattered cucumber seeds in it. They grew very well. He also used a basin to fill some sand and planted coriander and green onions. Whatever he planted grew, and in the yard of the Cultural Bureau, only the fruits and vegetables he planted could bear fruit.
Jiang Jun was speechless. "Okay, I'll ask Jiang Yuan what to watch before we go out. Is that okay?"
Li Caixia then let go: "Okay."
When I opened the door, orderly Xin Long was already waiting in the corridor: "Teacher Jiang, Jiang Yuan asked me to take you to the playground."
The cadre rest home is fully equipped with facilities, and there is a small forest next to the playground, which is suitable for jogging and walking.
Li Caixia's face immediately showed an expression of "see what I say" and said: "I will accompany Teacher Xiao Jiang over there, you move a chair and come back!"
He looked like a butler.
Jiang Jun took a few steps and began to get nervous.
Li Caixia sensed this and couldn't help asking, "Teacher Jiang, what will Jiang Yuan say to you later?"
Jiang Jun said angrily: "How should I know!"
