Chapter 3 Strange

Jiang Jun found that he couldn't remember anything, so he simply walked through the kitchen into another room.

The room is not big. Two-thirds of the space is occupied by a kang. The head of the kang shares a wall with the kitchen. The wall is empty, without even a painting.

There was a table in the corner, and on the table was a radio the size of a microwave oven.

The light was a little dim, Jiang Jun was a little anxious, she couldn't remember anything!

"You damned girl!" A loud and powerful shout came from behind: "Tell me, where did you go last night?"

Jiang Jun was startled and turned around dizzy.

A middle-aged woman with thick eyebrows, big eyes, thick hands and feet, wearing a washed-out blue work suit, looked like she had just come back from weeding in the fields, and her shoes were covered in dirt.

Jiang Jun smiled: "Auntie, I..."

The middle-aged woman was furious: "Auntie!! Who are you calling auntie? If your father doesn't come home, you won't recognize me as your mother, right? The "Send to the Countryside" movement is for whoever's family is assigned to it. Your sister is only in the third grade, it's not her turn. If you don't go, who will?"

Going to the countryside? Sister? Mom?

These words gave Jiang Jun another headache. She pressed her temples and shook her head.

The middle-aged woman continued to yell, "Look at that expression on your face! Are you not convinced? If you don't go, do you expect me to go? I do want to go, but I'm uneducated and can't go even if I want to!"

Staring at me again!

Do you think you are a general just because you are called Jiang Yun? Do you think the army is for your family? You are only 14 years old, a yellow-haired girl!

Jiang Yun subconsciously wanted to explain: "Auntie, listen to me..."

The middle-aged woman rushed over, raised her arms, and slapped Jiang Yun's face and body fiercely. "I told you to call me Auntie! I told you to call me Auntie! You are as heartless as your ungrateful father! You are a troublesome loser!"

Jiang Jun was caught off guard and had no power to fight back, and was stunned in an instant.

Before falling to the ground, Jiang Yonghua rushed in, hugged his daughter, and anxiously called out: "Xiaojun, Xiaojun!"

Jiang Jun glanced at Jiang Yonghua and moved his lips. Before he could even say the word "Dad", his vision went dark and he fainted in Jiang Yonghua's arms.

Jiang Yonghua lowered his voice and shouted angrily at his wife: "Zhang Xiuying, have you had enough?"

Zhang Xiuying's tantrum, scolding her daughter and her husband with vulgar language, was overheard by her husband. Feeling guilty, he lowered his voice and muttered evasively, "Who told her to call me auntie?"

Jiang Yonghua gritted his teeth, trying hard to suppress his anger: "She fell. Doctor Chen said she has a mild concussion and may suffer from amnesia."

"Amnesia?" Zhang Xiuying was terrified: "Doesn't that mean he's just a fool?"

Jiang Yonghua was furious: "You are the fool! How can you call your daughter a fool right away?" He helped Jiang Yun lie down on the kang: "Xiuying, you do it."

Zhang Xiuying quickly came over to take over, removing Jiang Yun's coat and trousers, pulling open the quilt to cover him, and carefully tucking in the corners. Her movements were light and delicate, not at all like the yelling shrew from before.

Jiang Jun closed his eyes tightly, feeling the veins on his forehead throbbing. His mind was spinning, and many images popped up in his mind, all of which were scenes of life in this house.

It turned out that Zhang Xiuying's beating and scolding had brought out the memories of Jiang Yun's original owner. It was truly a blessing in disguise.

The original owner of this body is also called Jiang Yun, 14 years old this year, and is in the second grade of junior high school at Qiaojiagou Middle School near the compound. He is about to graduate from junior high school.

This was during the Cultural Reform period, when a wave of educated youth were sent to the countryside for training and re-education, which gradually became a task. If the children of the compound did not continue their studies or join the army or work, they had to sign up to go to the countryside.

Jiang Yun's teacher praised her talent for studying and encouraged her to continue her education. If she didn't want to join the team, her only two options were to attend high school or become a soldier.

Because the army did not reach an agreement with the county middle school, the children of the military compound had to face the challenge of entering society after finishing junior high school at Qiaojiagou Middle School.

Jiang Jun heard from a classmate that someone had changed their household registration to a year older to join the military. To join the military, she would have had to lie about her age by two years. However, with her small, underdeveloped body, even if she lied about her age, her physical condition would still be visible.

Jiang Jun remembered how the skinny little guys could look so bright and cheerful after just three months of training on the playground. So, she decided to do some intensive training. Then, when the new recruits took their physicals in two months, she could fake it by pretending to be a skinny 16-year-old. Her classmate's older sister was already 17, and she looked as thin as a bean sprout.

It happened that Jiang Yonghua and Zhang Xiuying had a quarrel, and Jiang Yonghua stayed in the division office and did not go home. Jiang Jun took the opportunity to sneak out and ran to the flying company training place on the big playground to exercise.

She originally wanted to practice all night and go home before the reveille.

Unexpectedly, her physical condition was so poor that she couldn't use any equipment except climbing a bamboo pole. But even then, her hands slipped and she couldn't climb up. After practicing all night, she finally climbed to a height of two meters.

Jiang Jun didn't master the skills and just did it brute force. She practiced too hard and had already exhausted her strength. When she heard footsteps coming, she wanted to slide down and leave quickly. Her hands loosened and she fell from the bamboo pole more than two meters high, hitting her head heavily on the ground.

This blow was not light. Jiang Yun, who came from another time and space fifty years later, had come through a serious car accident.

When she woke up, she was already in the hospital.

If she hadn't fallen, she would have gone home to make breakfast and gone to school.

Jiang Yonghua brought over a cup of warm water and said, "Xiaojun, take this medicine, have a good sleep, and then go to the clinic for the injection in the afternoon."

Zhang Xiuying reached out and helped Jiang Jun sit up. She glanced at the pills and asked, "Is one tetracycline tablet enough?"

The biggest adverse side effect of tetracycline antibiotics is that they damage underdeveloped tooth enamel. If pregnant women and children take tetracycline tablets, their tooth roots will turn black and yellow. Tetracycline was withdrawn from clinical use in the 1980s.

Jiang Yun has an aunt who has a set of tetracycline teeth. When she heard the name of tetracycline, she shuddered and shook her head and said no.

Zhang Xiuying shouted, "You're complaining about taking medicine!"

He stretched out his hand, took the pill from Jiang Yonghua's hand without saying a word and stuffed it into Jiang Yun's mouth.

Jiang Yonghua retracted his hand and said, "Zhang Xiuying, please go away. I can take care of my daughter myself. I don't need you."

Whenever he got angry, he would call Zhang Xiuying by her full name.

Zhang Xiuying fell silent, turned her face away, and did not dare to talk back.

Jiang Jun got a headache when he heard the quarrel between the two people. He took the pill and put it in his mouth. He swallowed it with water from Jiang Yonghua's hand and lay back weakly.

Jiang Yonghua stretched out his big hand and touched Jiang Yun's forehead; "It's okay, you don't have a fever, you can go to sleep, if you need anything, just call me, I'll be sitting in the outer room."

After saying that, he walked out with Zhang Xiuying and closed the door gently.

Jiang Jun heard the door close, opened his eyes, took out the tetracycline tablet that had not yet begun to melt from under his tongue, and stuffed it under the mattress.
