Wang Xu did not answer Gu Xi's words, but just hugged him tighter. Gu Xi thought that they would have to send him to the hospital soon, so she stopped feeding him medicine. She put on her cotton coat and trousers, got up, boiled hot ginger tea for Wang Xu, and fed it to him.
I looked at the time and I didn't know how to make steamed buns, so I could only add some water to the porridge to heat it up. I went back to bed and hugged Wang Xu with his eyes closed to rest. The sick Wang Xu was just like a child. He liked to sleep close to others, maybe because his body temperature was relatively low.
Around six o'clock, Gu Xi got up, washed, put on a sweater, a down vest inside, a cotton jacket outside, and a scarf to cover most of her face. She got up and went out, first to Secretary Wu's house.
Wu Yue also didn't get much rest that night. He was worried about Wei Qingzhe and got up several times. So when Gu Xi knocked on the door, she stood up and opened it: "Gu Xi, why are you here? Has Wang Xu's fever subsided?"
Gu Xi shook her head: "Why are you out so cold? Go back and get dressed. I want to ask you how Wei Qingzhe is doing. If his fever hasn't subsided, take him to the hospital with Wang Xu."
Wu Yue hurried back to the room to put on clothes: "It's not healed yet. I just went to see him half an hour ago. His forehead is still very hot. Why doesn't the antipyretic work? I don't know how the others are doing."
Gu Xi told her not to worry: "Eat some breakfast first, and bring some to Wei Qingzhe. He may need to eat when he wakes up after arriving at the hospital. I'll ask if anyone else has a fever. If anyone does, we'll take them to the hospital together."
Gu Xi asked a few other people and found out that Sheng Huaian also had a fever, so she asked Yin Jie to take care of him and send him to the hospital later.
When Gu Xi went back, Wang Xu was sitting on the head of the bed with his eyes closed. Gu Xi walked forward and felt the temperature of his forehead. Wang Xu opened his eyes because of Gu Xi's touch, and the whites of his eyes were still a little red.
Wang Xu reached out and held Gu Xi's hand, and said in a hoarse voice: "Where have you been? Your hands are so cold. Stop busying yourself. I'll just take a rest."
Gu Xi looked at him distressedly and kissed his forehead: "I have already agreed with Wu Yue and Yin Jie to send Wei Qingzhe and Sheng Huaian to the hospital together. The three of you have a fever."
Wang Xu sat up and put his arms around Gu Xi's waist, resting his head on her abdomen: "Wife, you are so nice. I will definitely treat you better in the future."
Gu Xi let him go with a smile: "Get up first and wash up. I've heated up the porridge for you. Don't stay in bed when everyone else is ready."
Wang Xu was fully awake at this moment. Although he had a fever, it did not affect his movements. He quickly got dressed, washed up, and sat obediently in the yard waiting for dinner.
"Why are you sitting in the yard? Go sit in the room and I'll bring you some porridge."
Gu Xi held a bowl of porridge in each hand. Wang Xu immediately stood up and took the bowl: "I'll take it. You don't like eating in bed, so I'll wait for you outside."
"It's a special case, so I don't care about that. Your quick recovery is the best reward for me."
Wang Xu finished his bowl of porridge very quickly, and Gu Xi reminded him: "There is still porridge in the pot. If you don't have enough, go and add some. I don't know how to cook noodles. Will you get hungry after drinking the porridge?"
Wang Xu put down the empty bowl, leaned his head on Gu Xi's shoulder and closed his eyes: "No, before you came, I didn't eat breakfast and didn't feel hungry."
Gu Xi looked at him trying to hold on and said, "Are you feeling uncomfortable? I didn't give you medicine this morning because I thought the doctor would give you medicine when we went to the hospital for a checkup. You can sleep on me on the way."
Wang Xu nodded and leaned quietly on Gu Xi's shoulder. Fifteen minutes later, the sound of a tractor was heard at the door. Because it was still early, the noise of the tractor was particularly loud.
Gu Xi patted Wang Xu and said, "Get up, Yin Jie is here, go sit down first, I'll make you a cup of milk."
Wang Xu walked to the tractor by himself. There was a layer of hay on the bottom of the tractor. Sheng Huaian was already lying there, wearing warm clothes and wrapped in a quilt to block the wind.
Wang Xu went over and sat on the left: "Wait a moment, Gu Xi."
Two minutes later, Gu Xi came with her small bag on her back, took a thin blanket and covered Wang Xu with it, and got into the car hurriedly with two thermos cups in her hands, sitting on the far left. Wang Xu left a seat for her. After Gu Xi sat down, Yin Jie started the car to pick up Wei Qingzhe. Wang Xu leaned his head on Gu Xi's shoulder and fell asleep.
Wu Yue helped Wei Qingzhe out, followed by a worried Wu Yao: "Do you want me to go with Qingzhe? It's not convenient for a little girl like you."
Just as he finished speaking, he saw Gu Xi sitting on the tractor with Wang Xu leaning on her shoulder, and her face looked a little bad: "What's the matter? It's just a fever, why do you have to lean on my shoulder? I've been watching you all the way."
Gu Xi looked at Wu Yao, then at Wu Yue, and retorted with a smile: "Just look at it, who knows it? If it leans on you, it will be even more difficult to tell."
Wu Yue ignored her father's concerns. After Wei Qingzhe sat down, she leaned to the far right and said, "Dad, go get me a blanket too. Don't let me get cold later."
Wu Yao looked constipated, but there was nothing he could do. Wei Qingzhe was saving sick people after all, and he was dating Wu Yue: "You didn't even take the blanket, and you're still taking care of people."
He went into the room and quickly took out two quilts: "Cover them separately. It will look weird if they are covered together."
Wu Yue took one and covered the two of them with it: "Take the other one back, you are just trying to cover up your mistake. We are doing this openly, what are we afraid of?"
Seeing that everyone was seated, Yin Jie tactfully started the movement. As soon as he arrived at the village entrance, he saw Tian Guodong and Yao Cuilian waiting with Congbao in their arms.
Yao Cuilian's expression was not very good, but she didn't say anything and just hugged Congbao. Congbao's face was red with fever, and he was coughing all the time. He lost consciousness due to the fever and looked extremely miserable.
Tian Guodong saw Yin Jie and said, "Xiao Jie, please take us for a ride. Congbao has a high fever and needs to go to the hospital."
Yin Jie pointed to the back and said, "There are patients lying down everywhere. There is no room left. You can only sit next to me and put the child in the back."
Tian Guodong uttered a sigh and put the child in the back seat. There was still some space on Sheng Huaian's quilt, so he stuffed Congbao into Sheng Huaian's quilt and sat in the front seat: "Cui Lian, you go back. I'll take Congbao to the hospital."
Yao Cuilian was worried, but she had no choice: "No matter what method I use, I must cure Congbao."
Tian Guodong waved his hand, showing his impatience: "I know, you've driven my head to explode. I've been annoyed all night, and now you're still nagging me. Congbao is my son, how can I ignore him? I must take good care of him. I feel bad when he's sick. We're leaving now, you should go back quickly and take good care of mom."
Yin Jie also hated these two people very much. He didn't want to waste time, so he started quickly. From a distance, he could hear Yao Cuilian's instructions: "Take good care of your son."
Wang Xu's eyelids moved, and Gu Xi noticed it after paying close attention. She reached out and hugged Wang Xu tightly: "You have me."
