Chapter 16 Arrival

After eating a lot of soaked rice in the morning, Gu Xi hadn't eaten lunch yet. Ye Xinchen came down to wash up after waking up, and was about to eat his two buns. As a result, Li Tong quickly called him: "Brother Chen, please leave a bun for me. I haven't tasted Auntie's cooking yet. I'll go buy a box lunch to exchange with you. You have given Gu Xi all, so you can't not let me taste it."

Several people looked at the meat buns that Gu Xi had put on the table but had not had time to eat. Gu Xi was afraid that Ye Xinchen would misunderstand that she was not going to eat it and wasted his mother's kindness, so she explained, "I thought about my mother's cooking for me this morning, and I was afraid it would go bad, so I shared the vegetables first. The meat buns can be kept, and I want to eat them at noon."

Ye Xinchen nodded without caring, took out a meat bun and gave one to Li Tong, while he ate four big meat buns himself.

After eating, I sat back down at my old seat outside and continued reading Lu Xun’s book. The scenery outside the car became increasingly desolate, with mountains and wastelands.

Li Tong sat on the side, holding her face and looking out the window, then looked back at Ye Xinchen: "Is this book so good? I remember there were excerpts from Mr. Lu Xun's books in the textbook. It was not available in bookstores for a while, but it was reprinted later."

Ye Xinchen responded as he looked at it: "Yes, many people and books are gone."

Li Tong wanted to show that she knew a lot, and recalled a sentence by Lu Xun, in order to cater to the situation of Ye Xinchen's family: "Many writers have lost their lives. When dirty water is thrown at them, it is a joke for the innocent to be innocent."

Ye Xinchen immediately raised his head and looked around. Fortunately, no one around heard their conversation. His expression became serious: "Be careful when you speak outside. Trouble comes from the mouth. You should understand the principle of taking things out of context."

Li Tong didn't expect Ye Xinchen to suddenly become so serious. She realized belatedly that what she had just said was inappropriate and was shocked, so she stopped trying to make small talk.

The carriage was relatively quiet for a while. Some were reading, some were resting. Lin Ling occasionally chatted with Gu Xi, and then they continued reading. When they got tired, they looked out the window to rest their eyes.

After an unknown amount of time, Gu Xi looked at the time and it was past 12 o'clock. "Are you hungry? Do you want to have lunch first? We will be there at 1 o'clock. After lunch, we still have to clean up. We don't know what will happen there. Don't be hungry when you get there."

Lin Ling nodded: "I've been hungry for a long time. Seeing that none of you moved, I didn't dare to say anything."

Gu Xi brought the meat buns and water bottles, and the group went to the dining car and ordered a box lunch each. Li Tong couldn't help but sigh, "We don't know what the situation will be like over there. The closer we get, the more nervous we get."

Lin Ling took the time to comfort him while eating: "Why should you be nervous? There are so many of us. There is nothing to be afraid of. Just do as much work as you can."

Ye Xinchen saw that she looked different from the girls he knew, so he found it quite interesting: "It seems that when we get to the countryside, we will still need your fists and feet to protect us if something happens."

Lin Ling bowed like a heroine: "Okay, okay, I will do my best to protect you all."

The proud tone made everyone laugh.

After lunch and packing up, the train will arrive in about 10 minutes.

Carrying the small shoulder bag and water bottle he carried with him, Wei Qingzhe helped drag the two people's luggage out from under the bed, and then took his own luggage down from the upper bunk.

Ye Xinchen helped Li Tong take down the luggage and put it aside.

Wei Qingzhe thought for a while and said, "Let's leave one person here to look after the luggage, and the others can help carry it down. Xinchen and I can just run two more times."

Gu Xi also thought this was a better idea: "Okay, I'll stay and look after the luggage."

The car drove to the platform and slowly stopped. Wei Qingzhe, Ye Xinchen and Lin Ling carried their luggage and squeezed out with the crowded crowd. They finally got off the train and asked Lin Ling to look after the luggage. They got on the train again and got off together this time. They also helped the pregnant woman take her luggage down and asked the old lady to concentrate on supporting the pregnant woman. After they got off, the luggage was returned and the two also learned to say thank you.

Five people carried their own luggage. Gu Xi originally thought that she didn't bring much, but she didn't expect it to be so heavy. The suitcases didn't have wheels, so she could only carry them and walk. She felt like her hands were going to break.

Wei Qingzhe only had one suitcase, and seeing that she was struggling, he helped Gu Xi carry one.

From a distance I saw someone holding a sign in front of me. When I got closer I saw it was from the Red Star Brigade. Then I walked a little further and finally saw people from the Qingmiao Brigade.

Gu Xi and his companions had made preparations in advance and had little luggage, so they arrived at the meeting point as quickly as possible.

The receptionist of Qingmiao Brigade looked at the few people. They were dressed quite elegantly and looked handsome. They didn't look like they were going to work in the fields. They felt like they were here for tourism. I was worried in my heart that I would have to support another idle person.

After a while, people gradually came to report, and Gu Xi also saw familiar enemies, Liu Xiuni and her boyfriend. They brought a lot of things with them, and their lips turned pale from tiredness.

The receptionist from the Qingmiao Brigade called out the names one by one and let everyone get to know each other. There were 12 people in total, 5 of whom knew each other, and the rest were Liu Xiuni and her boyfriend Zhou Wei, as well as the two male educated youths Qin Haidong and Chen Mingzhi, and the three female educated youths Wang Qian, Zhou Liqin, and Lu Yun.

After the receptionist confirmed that everyone was present, he began to introduce himself: "Welcome everyone, I am the tractor driver of Qingmiao Village, my name is Yin Jie, today we sent a tractor and a bullock cart to pick you up, other places don't have this treatment.

You guys carry your boxes and follow me. The rest will be arranged in the village and the village chief will tell you. "

A group of people followed Yin Jie out. After talking for a while, most of the people had left, so it was not that difficult to walk.

The car stopped at the exit, and Yin Jie spoke again: "The one driving the ox cart is Uncle Zhao. If you want to come to the town supply and marketing cooperative to buy things in the future, you can find Uncle Zhao. He will pick you up and drop you off for a reasonable amount of money."

Before he could finish his words, a man came over from the side and sat on the tractor. Gu Xi saw his profile, with a distinct jawline, a high nose, and his favorite double eyes. Before she could finish looking at him, Yin Jie started introducing him again.

"There are only three people in our village who can drive a tractor. I, the village chief's son, and my brother Xu."

Yin Jie patted Wang Xu's shoulder, but Wang Xu had a cold face and did not respond. He picked up the kettle and tilted his head back to pour out a sip of water. A few drops of water flowed out from the corners of his mouth and merged with the sweat rolling down his temples, flowing along the jawline into his neck.

Tsk! Sexy! If it wasn't inappropriate to do so outside and the current environment didn't allow it, Gu Xi would have wanted to whistle to tease the handsome guy.

The luggage was put on the ox cart, and several men helped to load all the luggage onto the ox cart, while everyone sat on the tractor.

The road was not smooth along the way, and it was full of potholes, and it felt like my butt was going to fall apart.

We received a lot of envious looks on the way. Other villages only sent a tractor or a bullock cart, and there was little space left after the luggage was loaded. Women could still squeeze in, but men had to walk. There were also men and women who had to leave, but the few people in Qingmiao Village were still lucky.

We were silent all the way. After leaving the town, the road became even more bumpy. The tractors raised a lot of dust. No one spoke, and everyone covered their mouths and noses tightly to prevent inhaling the dust.
