Chapter 1: Traveling Through Time

It was a dark night, and the early autumn breeze was cool. A girl was running desperately on a rugged mountain path. Her two pigtails were loose, her body was covered with scars from weeds and branches, one of her shoes was lost, and her feet were bleeding from being scratched by stones, but she still ran forward desperately.

Suddenly, her feet missed a step and she rolled down the hillside. After rolling for more than ten meters, she was caught by a tree and fainted.

In the early morning, when the sky in the east was just beginning to turn pale, Chu Jingqiu woke up from her coma. She had a splitting headache and her body felt like it had been run over by a truck. She looked at everything around her in shock.

"Where am I? Wasn't I on the rooftop of a shopping mall, fighting with criminals who were taking hostages, and unfortunately fell from the roof? How come I'm in the wilderness?" Chu Jingqiu was confused.

She was lying halfway up a mountain. Luckily, the hill wasn't too steep, but rather sloped. Her clothes got caught on a tree, and weeds grew all around her. She wasn't wearing her black combat uniform, but a white shirt, army green pants, and a single green rubber shoe, typical of the era.

Suddenly, she had a splitting headache, and a memory that did not belong to her flooded into her mind like an electric current.

She traveled through time and space to the 1970s in China, and was born into the body of a little girl with the same name and surname as her. Her original name was also Chu Jingqiu, and she was seventeen years old this year. She was an educated youth who went to the countryside.

The original owner was from Beijing. She was the only daughter in the family and did not need to go to the countryside. However, under the constant persuasion of her best friend Qin Yilan, the original owner went to the countryside with Qin Yilan. The place they went to was Qingshan Village, Hongqi Commune, Bei Province.

Yesterday, the original owner went to the town with several educated youths to buy daily necessities. In the town, he was knocked unconscious by an old lady who pretended to ask for directions. His hands and feet were tied up and he was locked in a remote house. The original owner took advantage of the fact that the old lady's two accomplices went out to contact buyers and the old lady was left alone. He wore the rope through, knocked the old lady unconscious, and sneaked out. As a result, he slipped and rolled down the hillside, and then the 21st century special forces soldier Chu Jingqiu traveled through time and space.

Chu Jingqiu observed his surroundings and found himself hanging halfway up the mountain, about ten meters from the foot of the mountain. A winding road ran down the mountain, and his chances of rescue were higher if he reached the foot of the mountain. However, the slope was steeper further down, and climbing down on his own would be quite challenging. If he accidentally called for help and attracted the traffickers, it would be more trouble than it was worth. Furthermore, the area was sparsely populated, so there was no guarantee anyone would pass by. He had to find a way to save himself.

She found some thick vines around the big tree where she was hung. She grabbed the trunk with both hands, hooked the vines over little by little with her feet, and then weaved the vines together into a long rope and tied it around her waist. She tied the other end of the rope to the big tree, avoiding the thorns of the sour jujube tree, and slowly climbed down the mountain step by step.

She stood on the winding mountain road and found that there were no vehicles passing by. Moreover, she was too conspicuous to be discovered by the human traffickers, so she hid in the grass nearby, waiting for the opportunity to be rescued.

She lay in the grass for a long time, seeing some ox carts and tractors passing by, but she didn't dare to come out until a jeep came from the distance. Yes, a military jeep, coming from a distance. She quickly ran to the middle of the road, waving her arms vigorously and shouting desperately: "Help, help, save me!"

The jeep braked to a stop. Chu Jingqiu ran to the window and begged the young man in military uniform sitting in the passenger seat, "Comrade from the People's Liberation Army, I'm an educated youth who went to the countryside. I just escaped from human traffickers. Please save me and take me away from here."

The two soldiers in the jeep exchanged glances. The soldier in the passenger seat sized up Chu Jingqiu and nodded to the driver. The driver quickly jumped out, opened the back door, and let Chu Jingqiu in. He then pulled a medical kit from the trunk and handed it to Chu Jingqiu. "Comrade, treat your wound first. We'll take you to the hospital for a checkup when we get to the town ahead."

"Thank you! I won't bother you. I only have some superficial scrapes. No need to go to the hospital. Just take me to the police station in Qianbian Town."

The soldier in the co-pilot seat pursed his lips and said nothing, his phoenix eyes observing the surrounding environment coldly.

They started the car and continued on their way. The driver looked through the rearview mirror at the utterly embarrassed girl and said, "Comrade, where were you cutting in line? How did you end up running into a human trafficker?"

"I'm working in the Qingshan Village of Hongqi Commune. Yesterday, my friend and I went to town to shop. We agreed to meet at the gate of the town primary school. An old woman came over and asked me how to get to the machinery factory. I felt sorry for her, so I offered to show her the way. But when we got to a remote alley, she knocked me out. When I woke up, I found myself tied up in an unfamiliar room. Then, I took advantage of the fact that few people were around, knocked the old woman unconscious, and sneaked out."

"Can you still find the house you escaped from? Does the human trafficker have any particularly obvious characteristics?" the soldier in the co-pilot seat suddenly asked.

His voice is deep and powerful, full of charm, and he seems very steady, giving people a sense of security.

"Do you have paper and pencil? I can draw it for you." Chu Jingqiu said thoughtfully.

"Yes, wait a moment." After saying that, the soldier in the co-pilot seat took out a pencil and some papers from his bag and handed them to Chu Jingqiu.

Chu Jingqiu picked up a pen and paper, thought for a moment, and began to draw on the paper. The car was very quiet at this time, and the only sound was the rustling sound of Chu Jingqiu's painting.

About half an hour later, when the car was about to enter the town, Chu Jingqiu handed his painting to the soldier in the passenger seat.
