Chapter 112 Dry Wood

"You're back?!" Wen Ruan was pleasantly surprised and looked up at Song Yan. Song Yan had called last weekend to say that he would be back in the next few days.

The week was almost over, but there was still no news. Wen Ruan was a little disappointed. She had originally thought of calling Song Yan to ask about it, but the phone number was just a phone number that Song Yan had borrowed from another unit, which was not very convenient. She was also afraid that if she wrote a letter, Song Yan would miss it when he came back.

Wen Ruan could only wait patiently, thinking that she would go home on the weekend to see if she could receive a call from Song Yan and ask him in detail. But the surprise came so suddenly that he suddenly returned and stood downstairs in her dormitory waiting for her.

"Yes, I'm back." Song Yan smiled gently, his eyes almost overflowing with tenderness.

"Did you just come back from going out?" Song Yan asked.

"Yes, I've been selected as one of the interpreters for the exchange meeting of art troupes from various countries. The centralized selection interview will be held in a few days, and I'm thinking of buying a formal and appropriate outfit." Wen Ruan smiled smugly after saying that, and even held up the clothes in her hand to show him. The bag also contained clothes she had bought for Song Yan.

She seemed to be taking credit for something, but when she saw that her hands were empty, Wen Ruan's heart skipped a beat. Oh no... She couldn't help but turn around to look.

Dong Ya and the others finally caught up with Wen Ruan. Fortunately, Dong Ya and Zhao Xiaoyan knew Song Yan. At first, they were startled to see Wen Ruan suddenly run towards a man and hug him, even throwing the things she had bought on the ground.

Thinking something had suddenly happened, Dong Ya and the other man finally recognized Song Yan as they approached.

Seeing Wen Ruan turn around as if searching for something, Zhao Xiaoyan directly reached out and handed it to her, "Ruan Ruan, is this what you're looking for?"

Wen Ruan nodded somewhat embarrassedly. She had been so excited to see Song Yan that she had dropped all the things she had bought while shopping without even realizing it.

The girls in the dorm laughed and joked, then suggested that they go upstairs first. Song Ge asked Wen Ruan if she wanted to go home tonight, and the dorm supervisor and the others tried to help her get away with it.

Wen Ruan hesitated. Song Yan had just returned from a business trip, and she had heard him say that he would have another business trip in a few days. He wouldn't be able to stay at home for long, and she had to follow the school's regulations that first-year students must live on campus. She felt conflicted and distressed, unsure of what to do.

Finally, he looked at Song Yan with some hesitation...

Song Yan hadn't seen Wen Ruan for over a month. The person he longed for day and night was right in front of him, but the two still couldn't be together, and Song Yan was naturally very reluctant to part with her.

But Wen Ruan just mentioned that she had secured the only very precious selection spot for the exchange meeting in the entire country, and the selection would take place in a few days. This period was undoubtedly crucial, and she definitely needed to perform well and not let small things cause big losses and give others a handle to use against her.

Finally, Song Yan spoke up, "You guys go up first. I'll let Ruan Ruan go up before the dorm lights go out. These are some snacks and local specialties I brought back from Shenzhen. You can take them and share them." After saying that, Song Yan handed one of the two bags next to his feet to them.

The group of people in the dormitory were a little embarrassed and started to decline, but Wen Ruan made the final decision. She took the bag directly from Song Yan, handed it to Song Ge, and told her to go upstairs and distribute it to everyone. Only then did the others agree.

After the group went upstairs, Song Yan asked, "Shall we go for a walk around the side?"

Wen Ruan nodded in agreement, and the two decided to stroll around the school, take a walk, and chat. They estimated that the dormitory lights would be turned off in about half an hour, and Wen Ruan needed to get back on time.

The campus was very quiet at night, and there was almost no one on the road except for the two of them strolling slowly. They came to a small path with a bench next to it, and Wen Ruan suggested that they sit there. They didn't have much time, so they could only talk during the limited time they had.

It's only Wednesday today, and there's still some time before the holiday starts, so Wenruan is quite reluctant to leave.

Wen Ruan inquired carefully about his work and life during his business trip. Seeing that Song Yan seemed to have lost more than ten pounds in just over a month, she couldn't help but feel sorry for him. She guessed that he must have been so focused on his work that he hadn't been eating on time.

I was thinking that I would give him a good nourishing meal when I got home this weekend...

While Wen Ruan kept nagging him that he shouldn't only focus on work and neglect his health, Song Yan stared intently at Wen Ruan. He liked how Wen Ruan always kept him in her heart, and his heart was filled with sweetness. The tenderness in his eyes seemed to be overflowing.

Upon learning that Song Yan had come to Tsinghua University to see her as soon as he got off the train, without even having time to go home or eat, Wen Ruan felt both sweet and a little bittersweet.

Her tone carried a hint of reproach, blaming Song Yan for not prioritizing his own health...

The two were seated in a very secluded spot, on a bench on the path at the very edge of the lawn, where the streetlights cast only a faint afterglow.

Song Yan looked at Wen Ruan, who was chattering incessantly, chuckled, and picked her up, holding her on his lap like a child—a very intimate position...

Wen Ruan suddenly shut her mouth in nervousness, her face turning bright red. She reached out and pressed her hand against Song Yan's chest. This straddling position made her feel extremely ashamed. She wondered what Song Yan was suddenly doing again.

Song Yan looked at the light pink blush on her slender neck, a fire flashing in his eyes. He held the back of her neck with his large hand, his thumb involuntarily stroking it gently. The touch was exquisite. Wen Ruan was beautiful in every way, exquisite in every detail. Song Yan sighed inwardly.

Wen Ruan trembled under his intense gaze and the caress of his fingertips. She raised her small face, feeling uneasy, afraid that he might suddenly do something bad.

"Don't..." Before Wen Ruan could finish speaking, Song Yan swallowed all her words, leaving only the two of them panting as they entangled in this quiet corner.

Song Yan held Wen Ruan's waist and the back of her neck, hugging her tighter and tighter, wishing there wasn't a single gap between them. His breathing became heavier, as if he was no longer satisfied with such a brief encounter, and his slender fingers couldn't help but move downwards.

Meanwhile, Wen Ruan, being led astray by Song Yan, was gradually becoming drowsy. Suddenly, a gentle breeze blew by, startling the two slightly agitated individuals. Wen Ruan quickly sprang up from Song Yan's lap...
