The next day, Song Yan got up early as usual to prepare for work. Wen Ruan wriggled in his arms, and then, as if remembering something, suddenly opened her eyes.
Last night she finally found out what had happened! She had initially thought it was because she was a restless sleeper and often ended up next to Song Yan, but seeing how skilled he was last night, she realized that wasn't the case!
"That cunning old man!" Wen Ruan cursed inwardly.
Last night, I pretended to be asleep, thinking that I would move out of Song Yan's arms after he fell asleep, but as I waited, I fell asleep against my will.
Song Yan looked down at Wen Ruan: "Sweetie, sleep a little longer, it's still early."
Wen Ruan felt a little awkward and didn't really want to talk to him.
But then he remembered that tomorrow was Saturday, and that Song Yan had promised to take him to the countryside to experience rural life, and he started to lose his will again.
“Okay,” Wen Ruan replied.
After the men in the family had all gone to work, Wen Ruan finally got up slowly and started having breakfast with Song's mother.
He also told her that he wanted to go to his uncle's house in the countryside with Song Yan for two days this weekend. He had never been to such an environment before and was curious about it, and also wanted to find some inspiration.
Song's mother was very happy to hear this, and her face was full of relief. She felt that her youngest son definitely had feelings for Ruan Ruan. She hadn't expected that he would take action so quickly after she had only mentioned it to him briefly.
Song's mother told Wen Ruan to have fun and that she would take her to the supply and marketing cooperative and the department store later to bring some things to her uncle's house.
Needless to say, Song's mother had a lot of money, and in addition to her own dowry and betrothal gifts, Wen Ruan also had all of Song Yan's savings handed over on their wedding day.
After finishing their meal, the two went shopping hand in hand. Women probably all have a gene for shopping. They had originally agreed that this trip was just to bring some gifts to his uncle's family, but neither of them could control themselves and ended up buying a lot of things, big and small.
Every time it was time to pay the bill, Wen Ruan would take the initiative to do so, but Song's mother would always stop her. Wen Ruan had no choice but to think that winter was just two months away, so she decided to find some time to knit two sweaters for her mother-in-law and father-in-law as a token of her affection.
After waking up from her afternoon nap, Wen Ruan began to get up and pack her things.
The two had agreed in the morning that Wen Ruan would pick Song Yan up from get off work in the afternoon so they could go directly to the outskirts of Beijing. Song Yan had packed his things himself in the morning, and left his bicycle at her house.
Wen Ruan only needed to take her things and ride her bicycle to the steel factory gate to wait for Song Yan.
When she arrived at the steel mill gate, she first greeted the gatekeeper, Grandpa Wang. Grandpa Wang was very pleased; he loved looking at pretty young girls, especially one as filial and polite as this one. Wen Ruan always greeted him whenever she visited the steel mill.
"Are you here to see Director Wen or Secretary Song?" Grandpa Wang asked happily.
“I’m here to see Song Yan. We agreed to go to his uncle’s house together today. I’m waiting for him to get off work.”
Grandpa Wang glanced at his watch and said, "It's almost time to get off work. Come sit here and wait. The factory committee is far from the gate, so you'll probably have to wait a while."
"It's alright, sir, I'll just wait here for a bit. It's almost time anyway, and I'll just get some fresh air outside. You can go ahead with your work," Wen Ruan said, expressing her gratitude before declining.
"Okay, I'll stay over there. Just call me if anything happens."
"Oh, thank you, sir."
Wen Ruan pushed her bicycle to the tree directly opposite the steel factory gate, making sure Song Yan could see her as soon as he came out. Then she propped up the bicycle, keeping her eyes fixed on the gate so she wouldn't miss Song Yan.
As more and more people left work, everyone who passed by Wen Ruan couldn't help but steal a few more glances at her.
Wen Ruan wore a light white dress, her waist was incredibly slender, and her hair was tied into a side braid, which was quite unique. Her fair and smooth forehead was exposed, her eyebrows were like distant mountains, and her features were exquisite, making it impossible to look away.
This scene deeply stung Ye Xiaofan, who was walking home from get off work. Hearing people around her discussing that she was Wen Ruan, Secretary Song's new wife, an inexplicable anger suddenly surged in her heart. Ignoring everything else, she strode up to Wen Ruan.
Wen Ruan's vision was suddenly blocked by the woman in front of her, and she was very confused. She was certain in her heart that neither she nor the original owner of the body had ever seen this woman before.
"Comrade, is there something you need?" Wen Ruan asked, puzzled.
"You are Wen Ruan?"
Wen Ruan was somewhat bewildered. What was wrong with this woman? She spoke in such an arrogant tone that she didn't want to talk to her. She didn't reply and took a few steps to the left, away from the woman, while continuing to look towards the door.
"I know you're Wen Ruan even if you don't say it." Wen Ruan was speechless. Was today not a good day to go out? She had run into a lunatic right away.
"I heard you and Secretary Song are childhood sweethearts? Let me tell you, childhood sweethearts never lead to happiness. It's an arranged marriage, a remnant of feudalism. I advise you to leave Secretary Song as soon as possible and find your own happiness," Ye Xiaofan said excitedly with a righteous expression.
Hearing this, Wen Ruan understood. So it was another incident caused by Song Yan. This must be another woman who fell for him. She couldn't help but roll her eyes.
But Ye Xiaofan continued rambling on, and Wen Ruan grew impatient, directly asking, "What's your name? Which department are you from? What's your relationship with my husband, Song Yan? What right do you have to interfere in our affairs? If you have any objections, you can wait here for a moment. My husband will come out soon, and we'll answer your questions together."
Wen Ruan bombarded Ye Xiaofan with questions, leaving her speechless. Before she could even open her mouth, she heard hurried footsteps in the distance: "No need to wait, Ms. Ye, you can ask us any questions now."
