Before they knew it, it was the weekend. The sky was bright and clear, and Song Yan arrived at the Wen family home early in the morning.
Wen's mother was busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen, while Wen Ruan had just gotten up and walked out of the room, still sleepy, with a tuft of hair sticking up on her head.
Perhaps it was a case of thinking about something during the day and dreaming about it at night, but Wen Ruan dreamed about Song Yan last night.
In her dream, Song Yan wanted to divorce Wen Ruan, saying he had fallen in love with the original female lead and chose to leave with nothing. Wen Ruan counted the savings in her bankbook over and over again, and woke up smiling in the morning.
She yawned, a tear welling up in the corner of her eye. In a daze, she saw someone sitting on the sofa in the living room, and her movements froze instantly. It was Song Yan.
Song Yan sat upright on the sofa, but the smile in the corner of his eye showed that he had been paying attention to Wen Ruan. Song Yan felt that Wen Ruan was really well-behaved right now. If he lived in modern times, he would definitely use the word "cute".
Wen Ruan was also confused as to why the male protagonist in the original story, who was always serious and indifferent, was smiling so much, as if she were the male protagonist, not the one who had been transmigrated into the body.
"Good morning, have you had breakfast yet, Brother Song Yan?" Wen Ruan waved awkwardly at Song Yan.
"Ruan Ruan, good morning. After you've washed up, would you like to go out for breakfast with me?" Song Yan stood up and said gently to her.
At this moment, Wen's mother came out of the kitchen. "Ruan Ruan, go wash up quickly. You and your brother Song Yan will go out to eat later. Buy everything you need while you're at it. Remember not to spend money recklessly, and Ayan, don't spoil her." Wen's mother said gently.
Wen Ruan quickly finished washing up and hurriedly went to her room to change her clothes.
The original owner looked very similar to Wen Ruan, and even more delicate and beautiful in features than Wen Ruan herself. This made Wen Ruan very happy and relieved some of the discomfort she felt after transmigrating.
The original owner had a lot of clothes, which shows how much the family doted on her.
Wen Ruan thought that since this was her first "date" with the male lead, she should dress up nicely. So she took out a light yellow dress from the closet and paired it with a belt of the same color. As soon as she put it on, her shapely figure was revealed.
Previously, Wen's father had brought back two lipsticks for Wen Ruan and her mother from his business trip to Shanghai. This time, they could finally use them. Wen Ruan also drew her eyebrows, lightly touched up her cheeks with lipstick, and tied her hair into two loose braids.
Wen Ruan took a deep breath and walked out of the room.
Upon hearing the noise, everyone in the living room instinctively looked in Wen Ruan's direction, and then froze.
Everyone knows that Wen Ruan has a beautiful appearance, but today Wen Ruan is dressed differently from her usual style, looking exceptionally fresh and unique.
The girl under the eaves was like a blooming flower, exuding an intoxicating fragrance. Her face was exquisitely beautiful, like a fairy from mythology descending to earth. Her black hair and red lips, her slender waist, and her graceful figure were breathtaking. Her eyebrows were like painted strokes, and with a slight lift, they seemed to illuminate the entire world.
Song Yan's dark eyes were fixed on Wen Ruan.
Wen Ruan gripped the sides of her skirt tightly, feeling both delighted by Song Yan's reaction and nervous because of his undisguised gaze. She tried her best to ignore the heat rising in her cheeks.
Song Yan's Adam's apple bobbed. "Let's go."
"Ruan Ruan looks so beautiful today. You're going out with your brother Song Yan today. Go early, or the sun will come out soon." Wen's mother, being an experienced woman, was delighted by the tug-of-war between the two and chimed in.
Wen Ruan replied, "Okay."
"Dad, Mom, let's set off now."
"Come back soon," Wen's father urged in response.
After greeting the Wen family, Song Yan waited for Wen Ruan at the door with his bicycle.
Wen Ruan took a light breath and was about to get on the bike when she noticed a thick little cushion tied to the back seat. She couldn't help but glance at Song Yan.
"What's wrong?" Song Yan asked, noticing Wen Ruan's gaze.
"It's alright, let's go," Wen Ruan replied, pursing her lips.
Wen Ruan was surprised by Song Yan's sudden thoughtfulness. She had ridden on his bicycle before, but there had never been a small mat attached to it.
Wen Ruan sat sideways on the car seat, thought for a moment, and instead of reaching forward as before, she grabbed the iron bars on both sides of the back seat.
Song Yan paused for a moment, then said nothing. After riding for a while, he looked back at Wen Ruan and said, "If you feel bumpy or uncomfortable, tell me. Hold on tight, the road ahead is a bit bumpy."
"It's alright, not bumpy," Wen Ruan replied.
Just as she finished speaking, the bicycle went over a small pothole, which startled Wen Ruan so much that she immediately grabbed Song Yan's waist on both sides. Then the bicycle swerved sharply before returning to normal.
"Didn't you see the little pothole? Did it knock you over?" Song Yan said, turning around.
"It's nothing," Wen Ruan replied, looking up. Suddenly noticing that Song Yan's ears were slightly red, Wen Ruan felt as if she had been burned, and quickly put her hands back on either side of the car seat.
It took them about fifteen minutes to reach the state-run restaurant closest to the department store.
"What would you like to eat? Soy milk and fried dough sticks? Or fried dough rings and soy milk?"
"Fried dough sticks, please."
In her previous life, Wen Ruan was also from Beijing, but she had always found the taste of douzhi (fermented mung bean juice) unpalatable.
The meal was quickly finished, and after paying the bill, Song Yan drove Wen Ruan towards the department store.
The department store in Beijing is very large, with about three floors.
The first floor sells grains, oils, and non-staple foods; the second floor sells clothing and fabrics; and the third floor sells home appliances and furniture.
Song Yan led Wen Ruan straight to the ready-to-wear section on the second floor.
"Before leaving, your Aunt Ye specifically told me that the department store had just received a new batch of clothes from Shanghai, and that I should definitely bring you along so you could see if there was anything you liked and pick out a few more sets."
