Chapter 9 Embrace

Song Yan was pleasantly surprised; his eyes lit up instantly, and his indifferent face seemed to light up with a sudden burst of energy.

"Ruan Ruan, just arrived?" Song Yan quickly stepped forward and took the lunchbox from Wen Ruan's hand.

"Okay, let's go quickly, I'm afraid my dad will be waiting." Wen Ruan said quickly, trying to cover up her embarrassment just now.

"Hey, do you know who I just saw?" A woman quickly walked into the factory committee office and said as Song Yan and his companion walked a short distance away.

"What's wrong? What's wrong?" It was lunchtime, and there weren't many people in the factory committee office, only three or four scattered around. Everyone's attention was focused on the woman in front of them.

"I just got back from the cafeteria and was about to go into the office when I saw a stunningly beautiful woman standing at the entrance of our factory committee!"

"Oh my, now I know what it means to have fair skin and delicate bones, and a beautiful and elegant appearance," the woman said excitedly.

"Do you even know who she is? Which department is she from? How come no one knows about such a beauty in our factory? Is she a new employee? Is she even prettier than Ye Xiaofan, the factory's most beautiful employee?" Seeing that Ye Xiaofan wasn't in the office, a group of people laughed and joked.

Ye Xiaofan had only been working at the factory for a little over a year. Relying on her looks and the fact that Deputy Factory Director Guo was her uncle, she was arrogant and looked down on everyone. Heaven knows how long everyone had put up with her.

"Oh, Ye Xiaofan is nothing compared to her. You'll see when you meet her. That person doesn't seem to work at our factory. Most importantly, she knows our Secretary Song, and they seem to be quite close!"

Yes, intimate. Although the two didn't say much or make many gestures after meeting, from a distance, there was an aura between them that no one else could penetrate, and they seemed very harmonious.

"Huh? You mean Song Yan? How could that be? He always acts like he's keeping everyone at arm's length. I feel scared every time I see him."

"Yeah, it's that shameless Ye Xiaofan. He acts like he's never seen a man before whenever he sees Secretary Song, and he's always trying to get close to her." The person who spoke was also a member of the publicity department, just like Ye Xiaofan. However, since the two of them joined around the same time, Ye Xiaofan was always ostracizing him, and they didn't get along very well.

"Yao Cui, who are you calling shameless? The most shameless person is someone like you who gossips behind people's backs." Suddenly, a woman with delicate features and a good figure entered the office.

It's Ye Xiaofan.

"You did it yourself and you're afraid of what others will say? I don't know who brought breakfast to Secretary Song this morning, and she didn't even acknowledge you. You shamelessly keep trying to get close to her every day."

"Smack!"

"I'll beat you to death, you foul-mouthed bastard." Ye Xiaofan stepped forward and slapped Yao Cui.

The two immediately started fighting. Those around them, disregarding everything else, rushed to break them up.

Wen and Ruan were completely unaware of what was happening behind them.

We arrived at the office door quickly.

Knowing that the two were coming, Mr. Wen had made preparations in advance, tidying up his desk.

Wen Ruan opened the lunchbox, and a strong aroma of food immediately filled the air.

Father Wen said with a smile, "Little Song, come on, try Ruan Ruan's cooking. Ruan Ruan was worried that I wouldn't eat on time, so she specially made this and brought it to me. Her cooking is definitely top-notch." He gave a thumbs up, his face full of pride.

At first, he thought that Wen's mother had prepared the meal and asked Wen Ruan to deliver it. He was surprised to find that she had cooked it herself. He was delighted that his little fiancée had such skills. "Then I'll take advantage of your kindness today, Uncle Song."

"You know that much." Wen Ruan nodded seriously, looking rather silly.

This made Song Yan laugh.

After asking Wen Ruan and learning that she had eaten with her mother, the two began to eat.

Song Yan picked up a piece of fish with his chopsticks. The sweet and sour fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, incredibly fresh and delicious.

I was quite surprised. I didn't expect Wen Ruan's cooking skills to be so good, no less than the head chef in the cafeteria.

Tomatoes mixed with white sugar are sweet and sour, and the white sugar bursts in your mouth, creating a unique flavor.

After the meal, a bowl of cabbage and tofu soup will make you feel incredibly comfortable from the inside out.

Seeing Song Yan relax, Wen's father said smugly, "Little Song, how are you feeling?"

Song Yan praised him highly, making Wen's father extremely happy.

After the meal, Song Yan took the empty lunchbox to the nearby tap to wash it.

He offered to take Wen Ruan back.

"No need, I can manage on my own. You all go about your business," Wen Ruan politely declined.

Song Yan remained silent, clutching the lunchbox tightly, and continued following her with his head down.

Wen Ruan had no choice but to let him follow.

"Ruan Ruan, I'm going to Shanghai on a business trip tomorrow, and it will last about a week."

Wen Ruan calculated that their wedding date was set for the 10th day of the eighth lunar month, which is September 2nd. Today is already the 23rd.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely be back before the wedding," Song Yan said before Wen Ruan could even ask a question.

Both of them couldn't help but blush a little.

Upon arriving at the steel mill gate, Wen Ruan urged Song Yan to hurry back, but he insisted on escorting her home.

Just as Wen Ruan was about to wave goodbye, Song Yan suddenly looked at her and said with a gentle yet firm expression, "Ruan Ruan, wait for me to come and marry you."

The dappled sunlight fell on the corners of his eyes, softening them, but the emotions in his eyes seemed incredibly intense, as if Wen Ruan was about to be burned by his direct and unrestrained gaze.

Before Wen Ruan could react, he smiled slightly, pulled her into his arms with his right hand.

She involuntarily held her breath, listening to the steady and powerful heartbeat in his chest, her fingertips curling slightly, as if even the surrounding air had stopped.

About five minutes later.

"It's been so long, I wanted to hug you," Song Yan explained, reluctantly letting go.
