In the latter half of the night, the carriage was extremely quiet, with only the rhythmic clattering of the train.
Luo Yan was sleeping soundly when she heard someone chirping crickets in a very soft voice.
Woman: “It’s settled then. When I accuse him of indecent assault, you’ll be responsible for saying that you were acting as a Good Samaritan and he’s slandering you. When he’s surrounded, you’ll drug that brat and take him away.”
Man: "Will this work? What if they arrest you after I leave?"
The woman said, "Why did they arrest me? You left because you were afraid of being framed and arrested. There are so many people, who knows who stole the child? It can't be blamed on me."
Man: "Okay, it's settled then, so we can live a life of luxury in the future."
Hearing the footsteps getting closer and closer, stopping in front of the opposite bed, Luo Shicheng also woke up halfway, alert. Luo Yan deliberately called out in a drowsy voice.
"Daddy, Daddy..."
Luo Shicheng suddenly became fully awake. "What?"
"I need to pee," Luo Yan said in a whiny voice.
Luo Shicheng sat up abruptly, picked up Luo Yan, and ended up face to face with the man standing in front of the opposite bed.
The man felt as if he were being stared at by a ferocious tiger, and his hair stood on end.
"Dad, hurry up."
Luo Yan urged, as if she was about to burst.
Luo Shicheng found the man suspicious, stared at him intently for a moment, and then quickly carried Luo Yan to the bathroom.
Luo Yan was placed on the squat toilet, and Luo Shicheng left the door ajar, facing the passageway as he stood guard at the door.
After Luo Yan finished relieving herself, Luo Shicheng told her to wait outside and not to move while he went in to take care of himself quickly.
The overhead light was dim. Luo Yan stood at the bathroom door and saw a man and a woman walking quickly toward her. She clenched her small fists.
The spiritual spring water made her sharp-eared, sharp-eyed, and incredibly strong, so now that she had overheard their plot, how could she possibly let those two go?
Luo Yan stood there dumbfounded, seemingly oblivious to the approaching danger.
The man jogged over with very light footsteps, picked up Luo Yan, and quickly walked through the carriages, stopping in the passageway between the sleeper and regular carriages.
The door between the sleeper berths and the ordinary carriages is locked, and the key is with the train conductor, so men cannot pass through the ordinary carriages.
But the train was about to arrive at the next station. Once it stopped, as long as the man ran fast, Luo Shicheng would not be able to find him even if he searched through the carriages one by one.
Hearing the announcement that there were three minutes left before arrival, and that there was enough time, Luo Yan, who was being held in the man's arms, punched the man behind the ear.
The man felt everything go black before his eyes and he fell straight to the ground.
Luo Yan scrambled out of the man's arms and quickly searched his entire body, throwing whatever she touched into her spatial storage.
After a brief period of unconsciousness, the man slowly opened his eyes, and what he saw was the little girl's pink and tender face.
Luo Yan grinned at the man, pulled off his smelly shoe and stuffed it into his mouth, then swung her small fist at him like a hammer, causing him to writhe on the ground in pain.
A minute later, the man was barely breathing. Luo Yan stopped, took the shoes that were gagging him and put them on for him. She then grabbed the man's wrists and dragged him back.
The sleeper car was full of long-distance passengers, and no one got off when the train stopped. Luo Yan dragged the man through the quiet aisle and soon met Luo Shicheng, who had come looking for her.
Upon seeing the man Luo Yan was dragging, Luo Shicheng immediately understood what had happened. He held Luo Yan in one arm and carried the man on his back with the other to find the train police.
Luo Yan was placed in the flight attendants' rest room by the train police, while Luo Shicheng went with the train police to arrest the man's accomplice.
Luo Yan waited in the lounge. Through the open train window, she saw that after the train stopped, many passengers were getting on and off the platform, some walking hurriedly and some even running.
As she watched a woman carrying a sack run towards her, Luo Yan keenly recognized her as the man's accomplice.
The train police officer, worried that Luo Yan might run away, locked the door from the outside, so even if Luo Yan wanted to run away, she couldn't. The woman seemed to have taken this into account, and without hesitation, she jumped up and squeezed through the window to grab Luo Yan.
As soon as the woman had half her body inside the car window, Luo Yan punched her in the temple.
The woman fell asleep instantly, peacefully.
Luo Yan dragged the woman in and searched her body, then threw the items she found into her spatial storage.
The lounge was too small; the woman had to be moved out.
Luo Yan placed her hand on the doorknob and slowly applied force.
Kaba! The lock cylinder was twisted off. Luo Yan opened the door, dragged the woman out, threw her into the hallway, turned around, went back to the lounge, and closed the door.
Not long after, the train started moving again. The train police officer and Luo Shicheng, who had not caught the man's accomplices, returned to the lounge to pick up Luo Yan and were shocked to see the woman lying in the aisle.
Luo Shicheng brushed aside the woman's hair and recognized her as the man's accomplice.
Upon hearing Luo Shicheng identify the woman as the accomplice of the arrested man, the train police officer was speechless.
All the train police officers worked together and searched the entire train but couldn't find him. It turned out he was lying outside the rest room. Who could they complain to?
Luo Shicheng gave the woman a cursory check and, after confirming that she was alright, handed her over to the train police officer and took Luo Yan back with him.
Following Luo Shicheng's instructions, the train police detained the two men and took them to Beijing for handover to the local police. Luo Shicheng was essentially no longer required to handle the matter.
Back in the sleeper berth, Luo Shicheng put Luo Yan down, and the father and daughter continued to sleep.
The next day, when Luo Yan woke up, Luo Shicheng was already awake, sitting on the edge of the bed, seemingly lost in thought, staring out the window.
“Dad…” Luo Yan sat up in bed and called to Luo Shicheng.
Luo Shicheng turned around and patted Luo Yan's little head, "Are you hungry?"
Luo Yan nodded, and Luo Shicheng carried her to the washroom to wash up before going to the restaurant for breakfast.
The food on the train was not very tasty, and Luo Yan only ate about half a meal.
After returning to his sleeper berth, Luo Shicheng took out some snacks from his travel bag that he had brought from home and gave them to Luo Yan to eat.
