Chapter 150 Do you think I believe you?

Luo Shicheng: "The car belongs to your Uncle Du."

Luo Yan, "Uncle Du?"

"My daughter talks a lot," Luo Shicheng coughed lightly.

"Uncle Du He and Dad became friends after a fight..."

"Ha, you only went to Beijing for a day, and there were fights at home and outside. Now that you've arrived in Jiangcheng, another one has come. You still have the nerve to say that?" Luo Yan rolled her eyes.

Luo Shicheng, who was being looked down upon by his daughter, smiled and reached out to rub Luo Yan's little head.

Luo Yan slapped Luo Shicheng's hand away, climbed into the back seat, and let Xiao Xiu, who was in the room, come out as well.

Xiao Xiu casually took out the travel bag that Luo Shicheng had placed in his spatial storage, and started eating the snacks inside with Luo Yan.

Luo Yan gave beef jerky to Luo Shicheng, who finally remembered that he and Luo Yan hadn't had breakfast yet.

They drove to a state-run restaurant and bought eight large meat buns. Luo Shicheng carried them in the car and they ate them all together near the supply and marketing cooperative.

After eating, they felt sleepy, and Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu soon fell asleep head to head.

Luo Shicheng kept his eyes glued to the supply and marketing cooperative, and nothing happened when it was time to leave work.

Hua Li walked home after get off work, with Xiao Xiu following behind, while Luo Shicheng's car kept a safe distance to avoid being spotted.

Hua Li never looks behind her when she walks, so she doesn't know that Xiao Xiu is following her.

When they arrived at the door, Xiao Xiu hurried a few steps to catch up with Hua Li, and when she looked up, Hua Li was actually crying.

"Aunt Hua, what's wrong?"

Xiao Xiu's sudden appearance startled Hua Li, who quickly wiped away her tears.

"It's nothing, I just got some sand in my eye... How did you get back by yourself?"

"I want to come back and stay with Aunt Hua."

Hua Li felt a warm glow in her heart upon hearing this.

For two consecutive days, nothing seemed to happen on the surface, but Hua Li often cried at home. Although she tried to hide from Xiao Xiu, Xiao Xiu was very perceptive and noticed it every time.

Luo Shicheng noticed that Hua Li was often called to the office on the second floor. After inquiring, he learned that it was the office of the new director, Han Zhi.

Seeing Hua Li enter the compound, Luo Shicheng told Xiao Xiu to go home with Hua Li, while he took Luo Yan and drove to Han Zhi's house.

Han Zhigang had just arrived downstairs and was locking his car when he heard someone call him to look up. He didn't recognize the person.

Luo Shicheng closed the car door and walked towards Han Zhi. "I am Hua Li's wife, and I would like to speak with Director Han..."

Luo Yan sat in the car and saw Luo Shicheng and Han Zhi walk to a secluded spot by the building to talk.

He thought his father was going to beat him up again, but after talking for more than ten minutes, Luo Shicheng remained amicable throughout.

After the conversation, Luo Shicheng walked towards the car, and Luo Yan clearly saw the sinister look in Han Zhi's eyes.

It seems her father's talk didn't work. Luo Yan took out a pebble from her bag and threw it, which hit Han Zhi's bicycle tire with a whoosh.

Han Zhi, who was walking towards the building entrance, heard a hissing sound and turned back.

Seeing that the bicycle's rear tire was flat, Han Zhi looked around and saw the little girl sitting in the passenger seat of Luo Shicheng's car, smiling and waving at him.

Han Zhi's face darkened, while Luo Yan grinned and flung out the pebble in her hand.

The pebble flew at lightning speed toward Han Zhi. Before Han Zhi could even react, the pebble grazed his eyelashes and hit the front tire of the bicycle.

After the initial shock, Han Zhi was overcome with lingering fear; if the pebble had been just slightly off-center, he would have gone blind.

Recalling what Luo Shicheng had told him, "If you dare to insult my wife again, I'll have my daughter beat up your nephew who's in kindergarten every day," Han Zhi finally realized that Luo Shicheng wasn't just bluffing.

"dad……"

Luo Yan asked Luo Shicheng, who was starting the car and driving towards the compound, "Tell me?"

“I didn’t say anything, just told him that if he cursed his mother again, I would continue lecturing him.”

"Do you think I believe that?" Luo Yan rolled her eyes at Luo Shicheng's mischievous grin and turned away from her irrational, neurotic father.

Just as Luo Yan turned her head, she saw Li Mingzhu and a man walk into the bookstore across the street.

“Dad…” Luo Yan pointed it out to Luo Shicheng.

Luo Shicheng turned the car around and parked it next to the bookstore.

Luo Shicheng was tall and had a big presence, so Luo Yan opened the door and walked into the bookstore alone.

As soon as Luo Yan entered the bookstore, she saw Li Mingzhu and a man each holding a book and walking towards the door, so she quickly turned back.

Luo Yan ran back to the car and climbed into the passenger seat. Before she could even settle in, Li Mingzhu and the man walked out of the bookstore and parted ways.

Luo Shicheng followed the man in his car, noted down the address, and went to the local police station to find out that the man's wife was actually Fang Aihua.

So, it was Fang Aihua's husband who colluded with Li Mingzhu?

Luo Shicheng used the police station's phone to call the municipal bureau and asked Song Lang to investigate Fang Aihua's husband.

The next day, Hua Li took a break. Xiao Xiu suggested that Hua Li let him take a break as well, and Hua Li chose to indulge him.

In the morning, Aunt Shi came to see Hua Li and asked Hua Li to bring Xiao Xiu over for lunch. Hua Li happened to have made braised pork with preserved vegetables, which Sun Bailing and Xu Tianzhong liked, so she agreed to go over in a little while.

After putting the prepared braised pork with preserved mustard greens into a basin, covering it with a lid, putting it in a net bag, and carrying it, Hua Li took Xiao Xiu, locked the door, and went to the Sun family's house.

As Hua Li walked through the side gate into the east courtyard, she was stopped by Li Mingzhu, who was standing at the entrance of the Chu family courtyard.

"Hua Li, I was wrong about what happened last time, and I apologize to you. Jianguo also knows he was wrong..."

Hua Li nodded and continued walking towards the Sun family's house, but was stopped by Li Mingzhu.

"We were once family, after all. Family shouldn't hold grudges overnight. Today is Old Chu's birthday, Hua Li, come over and let's have a reunion dinner together, okay?"

Hua Li frowned at Li Mingzhu, "What exactly is your purpose? Just say it."

Li Mingzhu smiled warmly, "Old Chu and I really treat you like a daughter. Even if we're not family, we shouldn't treat you like an enemy. How can you think of us like that?"

Hua Li didn't believe a word of it, and holding Xiao Xiu's hand, she walked past Li Mingzhu into the Sun family's house.

The food was already on the table. Sun Bailing and Xu Tianzhong were still playing chess, while Chen Yuanshan was busy helping the two aunties serve the dishes. He greeted Hua Li and Xiao Xiu with a smile.

Upon seeing Xiao Xiu, Sun Bailing immediately shooed Xu Tianzhong away, saying, "You lousy chess player, get out of the way!"

Xiao Xiu resignedly sat down to play chess with Sun Bailing, while Xu Tianzhong went to pour wine with a smile.

Hua Li brought out the braised pork with preserved mustard greens and placed it on the table. Sun Bailing and Xu Tianzhong smiled broadly upon smelling the aroma.

All the dishes were served, and just as Sun Bailing was taking a short break after his narrow victory, Aunt Shi called for dinner.

The group sat around the table and began to eat in a lively atmosphere, while the father and daughter in the room pitifully ate their cake.

"Oh, I've arrived just in time..."

Li Mingzhu walked in carrying a clay pot, and greeted Sun Bailing with a smile.

"One cannot hit a smiling face." Although Li Mingzhu had ruined the cheerful atmosphere, it was not appropriate to directly kick her out. Sun Bailing spoke with a stern face.

"What's up?"

Li Mingzhu, seemingly unaware of her unpopularity, walked over and placed the casserole on the table.

“I just ran into Hua Li and wanted to invite her over for a meal so the whole family could have some fun, but she refused. I also made too much food, so I brought out a pot of chicken soup for everyone to try.”

As she spoke, Li Mingzhu went to the kitchen to fetch bowls and spoons. She first served a bowl to Sun Bailing, and then to Xu Tianzhong, Chen Yuanshan, Hua Li, and Xiao Xiu in that order.
