Chapter 226 Sister, can I come back?

When Hua Li came to pick up her child after get off work, she was blocked by Deng Ling's mother, who demanded that she be taken away.

“My child’s father ran away with your man and hasn’t been seen since. You’re not leaving until you hand him over.”

Although Hua Li didn't know what had happened, she knew who Deng Ling's father was, and it was very likely that Luo Shicheng took Deng Liren away because he knew about how they had bullied her.

"Go find whoever took it. Why are you looking for me?"

“You two are a couple, who else would they turn to if not you?”

Deng Ling's mother held onto Hua Li tightly and wouldn't let go.

Parents picking up their children gathered around and talked about Deng Ling's mother.

"What, are your husbands some kind of precious gems, that whoever bumps into them has to be responsible for bringing them back to your bed?"

Deng Ling's mother, her face flushed with anger, retorted, "What's it to you? Shut up!"

"Mom, let's go."

Hearing her son call her, Deng Ling's mother scolded Deng Ling again.

"You heartless wretch! You didn't even look for your dad after he died. What good are you?"

Xiao Xiu stood in front of Hua Li and faced Deng Ling's mother.

“Deng Ling’s father ran away with the money, so why are you asking my Aunt Hua for him? If you come and bother my Aunt Hua again, I’ll beat your son every time I see him.”

“If you dare to hit my son again, it won’t just be a matter of five thousand yuan. You don’t believe me? Try touching him and see what happens.”

As she spoke, Deng Ling's mother took several steps back.

Deng Ling stood there all alone, looking incredulously at her own mother who had abandoned her.

Deng Ling only had to pay 5,000 yuan after Luo Yan slapped his nose. If Xiao Xiu were to slap Deng Ling a few times in public, given how rich the Hua Li family is, they might be able to extort 10,000 yuan.

Deng Ling's mother's eyes were filled with greed; she no longer cared about her son's life or death.

Hua Li had no interest in playing along with Deng Ling's mother's madness. She tried to pull Xiao Xiu away, but Deng Ling's mother blocked her way.

"Stop right there! You're not allowed to leave until you hand over my child's father."

"Okay, I won't go home, we'll go home with you."

Hua Li pushed Deng Ling's mother.

"Lead the way, let's go."

"What right do you have to go to my house!" Deng Ling's mother said, hands on her hips.

"Your men are all under my jurisdiction, so why can't I go to your house?"

Deng Ling's mother couldn't answer for a moment and was pushed away by Hua Li.

As Xiao Xiu passed by Deng Ling, he deliberately threatened, "If your mother dares to bully Aunt Hua, you'll see tomorrow."

Deng Ling's face drained of color, and she grabbed tightly the mother who was about to rush up and tear Hua Li apart.

As expected, the child had the best ideas. Xiao Xiu turned around and waved to Deng Ling with satisfaction. Deng Ling shrank back, secretly glad that he had done the right thing.

When Hua Li got home, she found that Luo Shicheng wasn't there, but her parents were trying on their wedding clothes.

Shen Suyin also prepared formal attire for Hua Li and Luo Shicheng, and invited Hua Li to try it on.

"Would you like to have your wedding with us too?" Shen Suyin asked Hua Li.

Her wedding with Luo Shicheng was filled with too many unpleasant incidents, and even now, Hua Li still subconsciously resists holding a wedding. Hua Li shook her head.

Shen Suyin didn't see Luo Shicheng, so she asked Sun Bailing, "Where's Luo Yan's father? Why hasn't he come back yet?"

Sun Bailing didn't know either and couldn't answer Shen Suyin's question.

Luo Shicheng still hadn't returned by evening. Hua Li noticed that the two children were very calm and suspected that they knew something.

"Xiao Xiu, do you know where your Uncle Luo went?"

Xiao Xiu shook his head.

"Yanyan?" Hua Li noticed that Xiao Xiu was hiding something and called her Luo Yan.

Luo Yan waved her little fist, "Mountain."

Hua Li, "Your dad went into the mountains?"

"The cabin where the arms dealers were found." (Xiao Xiu)

"Deng Liren was taken there too?"

Xiao Xiu nodded, and Hua Li stared blankly for a while before tears rolled down her cheeks.

Luo Shicheng knew, knew about the humiliation she had suffered over the years, but Hua Li didn't want to think about why Luo Shicheng had done this.

The following day, Luo Yan asked Hua Li to let her and Xiao Xiu rest for a day.

"Tomorrow is a day off, why do we have to rest today?"

Luo Yan, "A gift."

She's attending her grandparents' wedding tomorrow, and if she doesn't start preparing now, it'll be too late.

Hua Li affectionately patted Luo Yan's head, "Okay, I'll talk to Director Lin."

Shortly after Hua Li left for work, Chen Yuanshan, who had asked Sun Bailing for leave, arrived.

Chen Yuanshan took the two little ones out the back door to the mountains to collect birch bark.

One adult and two children carried three baskets, which were filled to the brim with birch bark.

Back home, Luo Yan taught Chen Yuanshan and Xiao Xiu how to peel the skin, leaving the most tender inner layer, and cut out individual figures to attach to the wooden frames that Luo Shicheng had already ordered.

Luo Yan first cut out the photos of tomorrow's main characters, her maternal grandparents, then Hua Li and Luo Shicheng, Xiao Xiu, Chen Yuanshan...

Chen Yuanshan and Xiao Xiu cut out the pieces from people they knew, and then used glue to paste the cut-out pieces in order.

Luo Yan discovered that although she still had difficulty speaking, her skills from her original world were reviving. The characters she edited were fast and realistic, comparable to her works from her original world.

As Chen Yuanshan pasted the paper, he exclaimed in surprise, "Yanyan, where did you learn to cut such good paper?"

When Luo Yan heard this question, she suddenly had a strange premonition and felt a pang of sadness.

I'll miss you all.

Chen Yuanshan was taken aback when Luo Yan suddenly said such a long sentence.

"Just tell Mr. Chen what you want."

Luo Yan shook her head and continued with her work.

What would take an adult several days to complete, Luo Yan finished in one day.

Chen Yuanshan helped Luo Yan install the outer glass frame and then carefully wrapped it with newspaper.

After Sun Bailing and Hua Li returned, the whole family sat down to eat together when the phone suddenly rang.

Aunt Shi answered the phone and called Sun Bailing.
