Chapter 83 Such a good opportunity must be seized

Luo Yan was overjoyed to run into the child that Lao Zhao had sold before at the hospital. Even Song Lang, who had pinched her head, seemed much more agreeable to her now.

Song Lang had carried the painting with him ever since he got it from Luo Yan. After his men took away the woman and child, he took out the painting and asked Luo Yan about it.

"Yanyan, tell Uncle, is that child in the painting?"

Luo Yan stared at Song Lang with her innocent, untainted eyes, looking completely bewildered.

The child is too young to understand. Tsk, Song Lang frowned, pointing at the painting with unwavering determination.

"Yanyan, where is your little brother?"

That's the right way to ask the question. At least your answer won't be too complicated, so you won't expose her.

Luo Yan pointed to the child who had been taken away by the bad guys, "Little brother, little brother."

Sure enough, Luo Yan had seen this child before; he was the same child the old man who reported the crime said had been taken away by bad people.

"Thank you, Yan Yan, you've saved another family."

Luo Yan smiled and said, "What did you say? I don't understand."

"Why does this little girl smile so much..."

For the first time, Song Lang, who didn't like children, thought having a child would be nice.

"Yanyan, where's your grandma?"

Luo Yan grabbed Song Lang's finger and pointed ahead.

Song Lang, with his back bent, let Luo Yan lead him into Xia Suya's ward.

Hua Li recognized him as a policeman and stood up to greet Song Lang.

Song Lang explained his purpose, and Hua Li apologized.

"My mother-in-law just fell asleep; she probably won't wake up until the afternoon."

Song Lang nodded and asked Hua Li why he didn't recognize Tian Chunhua when they were in Lisha Town.

“I don’t know much about my husband’s family. If my mother-in-law hadn’t gone to the municipal bureau with me, I wouldn’t have known that I had a sister-in-law named Tian Chunhua.”

"Don't you usually have any contact with your in-laws?" Song Lang asked.

Hua Li shook her head. "My husband and I live in Jiangcheng, while his family lives in Beijing, so we rarely visit each other."

It's impossible that he'd never even met his sister-in-law, but that's their family matter and doesn't involve the case, so Song Lang didn't ask any further questions.

Song Lang planned to go back to the Municipal Bureau first and come back in the afternoon. He took a pen and wrote down the bureau's phone number on a piece of paper and handed it to Hua Li.

"Please have your mother-in-law call me after she wakes up."

Hua Li took the paper and placed it on the bedside table, then Song Lang said goodbye to Hua Li and left.

When Chen Yuanshan returned from buying food, he told Hua Li that he had to go back first, as Sun Bailing had to attend a meeting in a neighboring city that afternoon.

Hua Li tried to give Chen Yuanshan the money for the meal, but Chen Yuanshan refused to accept it. Hua Li had no choice but to take the money and see Chen Yuanshan off.

After seeing Chen Yuanshan off, Hua Li finished eating with the two children, played with them for a while, and then coaxed Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu to take a nap.

Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu had just gotten into bed when a group of people pushed open the door and started pointing their fingers at Hua Li and cursing.

"You despicable bastard, the little beast you raised caused my daughter-in-law to be arrested, I'll beat you to death."

Facing a group of fierce-looking men, Hua Li was so frightened that her legs trembled, but she still managed to stand guard in front of Xia Suya's bed.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Have you mistaken me for someone else?"

"We didn't admit we were wrong..."

The woman in her fifties, who was leading the group, had a shrill voice and loudly pointed at the cot.

"It was this little bastard who got the police to arrest my daughter-in-law."

At this moment, the woman realized that Luo Yan, who had been sitting on the bed, was gone, and she froze.

"Where is the little beast?"

The little girl was too young to do anything, and everyone else's attention was focused on Hua Li, so no one noticed that Luo Yan had slipped between their legs the moment they rushed in.

Luo Yan ran to find the nurse, took out the note left by Song Lang, and handed it to the nurse.

"Talk, talk..."

She then pointed to Xia Suya's hospital room and stamped her feet anxiously.

"Naughty! Naughty!"

The nurses also heard the commotion in the ward and, worried that the hospital might be implicated, dialed the phone number written on the paper.

Upon hearing that the other party was from the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the nurse was startled and quickly explained the situation.

As soon as Song Lang arrived at the bureau, he received news that something had happened to Hua Li, and immediately called the police station near the hospital.

Hua Li was protecting Xia Suya when the woman grabbed her hair and hit her. Xiao Xiu rushed over to try to pull the woman away, but was shoved away by the woman and hit his head on the bed railing, losing consciousness.

The group that came to settle scores with Hua Li grabbed the woman.

"Stop hitting him. If you hurt his child, we'll all end up being the ones who suffer the consequences."

The woman had gone berserk, but Hua Li was incredibly strong. This woman, who had never lost a fight, actually suffered a loss at Hua Li's hands. She refused to admit defeat, and no amount of persuasion could change her mind.

When the police officers from the local police station arrived, they saw the woman straddling Hua Li and throwing punches. They immediately handcuffed her and took her away. The same applied to the others; no one was going to escape.

When Luo Yan returned, she saw Xiao Xiu lying unconscious on the ground, and she turned around and ran out to find a doctor.

Hua Li was also injured. The two of them, one big and one small, went to treat their wounds and get checked, leaving Luo Yan alone to stay with Xia Suya.

Luo Zhaoxing drove to pick up Xia Suya as agreed with his wife. When he arrived, he learned from Sun Bailing that Xia Suya had fainted, so he rushed to Jiangcheng Central Hospital.

Pushing open the ward door, Luo Zhaoxing saw a little boy guarding the bedside. The little boy wasn't afraid of him; he just looked at him with the same eyes as Luo Shicheng.

Luo Zhaoxing turned around and went to find the doctor to find out what was wrong. He was relieved to hear from the doctor that his wife had just fainted due to excessive emotional excitement.

Back in the ward, Luo Zhaoxing squatted down in front of the little boy and examined his face, which bore a striking resemblance to Luo Shicheng.

"You must be Yan Yan, the third son's daughter."

Luo Shicheng is the third child in his family, so this must be his father's father, her biological grandfather.

Luo Yan did not respond, and continued to look at Luo Zhaoxing without saying a word.

Luo Zhaoxing gently touched Luo Yan's little face. "Why aren't you saying anything? Are you afraid of Grandpa?"
