Chapter Fifty-Eight: The Little Devil is Laughing

Hua Li got up early to prepare braised pork, then cooked a meal and ate with the two little ones. She filled a covered porcelain bowl with braised pork and put it into a mesh bag.

Hearing the knock, Hua Li, carrying a net bag, led Xiao Xiu to open the door.

Aunt Shi stood outside the door with a smile on her face. "Your house is quite easy to find. I found it after Xiao Chen told me once."

Hua Li greeted Aunt Shi with a smile and handed Xiao Xiu and the net bag she was carrying to Aunt Shi.

Aunt Shi took it and sniffed, "Oh, it smells so good, no wonder Xiao Chen specifically asked me to come and get it."

In fact, Sun Bailing's family also lived in the compound, but cadres at the regimental level and above lived in the East Compound, which was separated from the West Compound by a wall. There were side gates on both sides for people to pass through, but cars could not.

Normally, Chen Yuanshan would drive to pick up and drop off Xiao Xiu through the two gates. Today, Hua Li needed to go to the supply and marketing cooperative early, which conflicted with Sun Bailing's schedule, so Chen Yuanshan asked Aunt Shi to pick her up and bring over the braised pork that Hua Li had made.

Hua Li said, "I don't know how to make this dish either. I learned it from my mother. After making it for a long time, I've mastered it quite well."

Aunt Shi praised, "Like mother, like daughter. The mother is skillful and clever, so the daughter will naturally be just as good."

After saying that, Aunt Shi took Xiao Xiu's hand and walked back.

As Wu Cuihua came out of the next door, a mouthwatering aroma of meat wafted towards her, almost making her drool.

Wu Cuihua's radar-like gaze fell on the net bag that Aunt Shi was carrying, then she turned her head and saw that Hua Li's door was not closed, and she immediately became angry.

They say a close neighbor is worse than a distant relative. Hua Li gives meat to others, but I live right next door and can't get a single piece of meat. She's so stingy.

After seeing Xiao Xiu off, Hua Li slung her backpack over her shoulder, carrying a bundle containing a small quilt, pillow, and pillowcase in one hand, and picked up Luo Yan to go out.

Previously, Hua Li was so hungry that she even had difficulty carrying Luo Yan. In the past few days, she has been able to eat well and has gained a lot of strength. Hua Li didn't even know that she was so strong. She could carry so many things and still walk briskly. She locked the door and arrived at the kindergarten in the blink of an eye.

Luo Yan was very pleased. It was worth it for her to pour spiritual spring water for Hua Li every day. It seemed that her body had recovered more than a little bit. That was great!

Upon seeing the kindergarten, Luo Yan stopped giggling and pouted. As soon as Hua Li was about to hand her over to Teacher Zhang, she immediately started crying while playing the flute.

"I want my mom, not my sister."

And so yesterday's scene repeated itself, with Hua Li taking Luo Yan away.

Upon arriving at the supply and marketing cooperative, Hua Li was the first to enter through the employee entrance, only to find Liu Fengling already arranging goods in the children's clothing counter.

Hua Li found it strange but didn't think much of it. When she reached her counter, she suddenly stopped and turned to run upstairs.

When Fang Aihua heard from Hua Li that a thief had broken in, she told Hua Li not to make a sound, and the two of them went downstairs to find Liu Qiang and Wang Wei, who sold pork...

Liu Qiang guarded the exit, while Wang Wei strolled around as if he were waiting to unload goods, wandering around the supply and marketing cooperative before slowly walking to the counter where Hua Li was in charge.

Yesterday, Luo Yan left several footprints on the talcum powder she had scattered in the passageway.

Wang Wei looked at it carefully, then went back to guard the gate with Liu Qiang.

Fang Aihua went to the police station to report the case, and the police arrived quickly.

Upon seeing the footprints, the veteran police officer said, "It's a woman."

Hua Li said, "My feet aren't that big, and yesterday when I got off work, my child spilled baby powder, and I didn't have time to clean it up. I came here early today to clean it up, and when I got here, I saw footprints on it..."

The police officer called all the employees who had arrived at the supply and marketing cooperative over and showed him the soles of their shoes.

Liu Fengling lifted her foot, and the old policeman pointed at her, saying, "Take her away."

"Why are you arresting me?" Liu Fengling protested, her eyes still blurry with sleep.

The veteran police officer demanded, "Tell me why there's talcum powder on the soles of your shoes?"

After getting off work last night, Liu Fengling hid in the storage room. When she came out late at night, she took her key and tried to open the lock on Hua Li's counter in the dark, but found that she couldn't open it at all.

After trying many times without success, Liu Fengling realized that Hua Li had changed the lock.

Having wasted her time, Liu Fengling was both angry and frustrated. She went back to the storage room and curled up on the mat that had been laid out there to sleep.

Liu Fengling slept soundly until dawn. Hearing a noise outside, she quickly tidied her hair and ran to her counter, not noticing that she had stepped on talcum powder the whole time.

No, it's not that she didn't notice anything at all. When she unlocked the door, she noticed the floor was white, and when she returned to the storage room, she could smell a fragrance. Liu Fengling ignored all of these things.

Liu Fengling looked down at her shoes. There was a white stain around the edge of the shoes. She lifted her foot and saw that there was also white stain in the grooves of the sole.

"I...I don't know..." Liu Fengling broke out in a cold sweat.

Fang Aihua looked at Liu Fengling with disappointment in her eyes.

"Yesterday, just before leaving get off work, Hua Li's daughter accidentally spilled some baby powder. Last night, a thief broke in, and he happened to leave footprints while stealing cigarettes..."

Upon hearing this, Liu Fengling was filled with remorse. No wonder her daughter said that little brat was strange; if it weren't for that brat causing trouble, she would never have been exposed.

"No, I'm not a thief. I was just angry that Hua Li bullied my daughter and wanted to get revenge on her, but she changed the locks. I didn't take anything. You can search me if you don't believe me. I really didn't take anything."

Liu Fengling was telling the truth. Fang Aihua also knew the long-time employees and knew that Liu Fengling couldn't possibly have actually stolen anything.

But regardless of whether Liu Fengling stole or not, her behavior must be severely punished and absolutely not tolerated. Otherwise, if others follow suit, wouldn't the supply and marketing cooperative become a den of thieves?

Fang Aihua instructed the police to discreetly take Liu Fengling away through the back door.

Just before being taken away, Liu Fengling glared at Luo Yan with a mixture of hatred and fear. Luo Yan returned her gaze expressionlessly, but just before Liu Fengling looked away, she curled her lips into a devilish smile.

The innocent baby suddenly laughed like a demon, the shock was immense, Liu Fengling was so terrified that she wet herself between her legs.

After taking photos as evidence, the police told Hua Li that she could start cleaning.

Hua Li had never seen anything like this before. She was so nervous that her face turned pale. After hearing the news, she could only sit on the stool to calm down. She had no energy left to clean.

Upon seeing this, Xiao Yanru silently picked up a broom and dustpan to sweep it clean, and then wiped the entire counter with a rag.

After finishing her work, Xiao Yanru silently continued with her own tasks.

Xiao Yanru was wiping the wine barrel with a rag when she suddenly came face to face with the baby. The baby grinned and held the candy in its hand to Xiao Yanru's mouth.

"Candy, candy, Auntie wants some..."

When Xiao Yanru met the baby's clear, bright eyes and was fed a sweet candy by the baby, her heart melted.

Xiao Yanru took her backpack and pulled out a bag from it, handing it to Luo Yan.

"My aunt gave it to me, and I'm eating it with my mom."

Luo Yan shook her head, shyly turned around and threw herself into Hua Li's arms.

Xiao Yanru placed the bag on Hua Li's counter and said.

"This is for the child, so please don't be shy with me."
