Chapter Fifty-Seven: Was I rude, or was your mother unreasonable?

"Dad, Dad..." Luo Yan kept calling out to Luo Shicheng on the way home.

Hua Li: "Dad has gone on a mission and won't be back for a while."

"Daddy, Daddy..."

Hua Li: "When Daddy comes back from his mission, shall Mommy take you to see him?"

What does this mean? Even after completing his mission, Luo Shicheng isn't going home? This…

Luo Yan's little brain isn't quite up to the task.

There was still plenty of food at home, so Hua Li didn't need to buy anything. As she walked into the compound, she made a point of checking the bulletin board.

Liu Jingqiu's apology letter has been torn down, leaving no trace of how it was posted.

"You must be Hua Li?"

Hua Li turned around when someone spoke behind her. She saw a middle-aged woman wearing dark blue trousers and a white polyester short-sleeved shirt.

“You are…” Hua Li didn’t recognize him.

"My surname is Li, and I am Liu Jingqiu's mother."

I see. Hua Lijing awaits the next installment.

Li Mingzhu: "I tore up the apology letter."

Hua Li remained silent, so Li Mingzhu spoke again.

“Jingqiu has already moved out of the compound and is no longer a member of the compound, so it is inappropriate to post the apology letter here.”

I know you and your daughter are jealous that Jingqiu and her mother found us, but jealousy is useless when it comes to things like birth...

As she spoke, Li Mingzhu took out sixty yuan from her pocket and handed it to Hua Li.

"You requested that the apology letter be posted for a full month. Consider this sixty yuan as two yuan per day to cover your request, which will last for exactly one month."

Hua Li glanced at the arrogant Li Mingzhu and gave a mocking smile.

"You mean I'm jealous of Liu Jingqiu because of you? Ha, what are you saying? Should we go and ask the leader who made her write me an apology letter right now, whether Liu Jingqiu did something wrong, or if it's because I'm jealous?"

Previously, Hua Li publicly exposed that Liu Jingqiu had used her favors to blackmail Luo Shicheng and had taken away Luo Shicheng's allowance of one hundred yuan every month. Li Mingzhu had also heard about this. If she were an outsider, she would also think that Liu Jingqiu was at fault. But Liu Jingqiu was her daughter, so she would not make any further comments except to clean up the mess for Liu Jingqiu.

She thought Hua Li was short of money, and that if she gave him sixty yuan as compensation, he would definitely accept it with great gratitude and wouldn't cause any trouble. But now it seems she was wrong.

"What, you think it's not enough?" Poverty breeds cunning, while wealth fosters conscience. A poor person like Hua Li might not refuse money, but would want more. The more Li Mingzhu looked at Hua Li, the more displeased she became.

Hua Li said, "I won't accept the money, but if I don't see an apology letter by tomorrow morning, we'll meet at the Supervisory Committee tomorrow morning."

Li Mingzhu didn't expect Hua Li to be so stubborn. She really didn't want money, just an apology, so she softened her tone and tried to persuade her.

“What good will you get from posting an apology letter for a month? Nothing beats money. Here, I’ll give you another forty, and this matter will end here.”

As she spoke, Li Mingzhu took out another forty yuan from her pocket, adding it to the previous sixty yuan, and handed it to Hua Li.

Hua Li couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Where did you learn to solve problems with money?"

When a leader's wife encounters a problem, her first thought is to use money to settle it. This problem is neither too big nor too small. Even though Li Mingzhu is a housewife, she can understand the implications.

Li Mingzhu felt her scalp tingle from the question.

"What are you saying? I just felt sorry for you and wanted to make it up to you. You don't appreciate it, and you're talking nonsense."

Hua Li looked at Li Mingzhu as if she were watching a joke.

“I said I don’t want compensation, I just want an apology letter written by Liu Jingqiu herself posted on the bulletin board for a whole month. What, do you not understand Chinese, or do you have a problem with your comprehension?”

Having said that, Hua Li, too lazy to waste any more words with Li Mingzhu, picked up Luo Yan and turned to leave.

"Stop right there!" Chu Jianguo came home from get off work and found that Li Mingzhu was not at home. He asked the housekeeper and found out that Li Mingzhu had come to the bulletin board to block Hua Li. Worried that Li Mingzhu would be taken advantage of, he immediately chased after her.

Hearing Hua Li speak so rudely to Li Mingzhu, Chu Jianguo was furious.

Hua Li ignored him and continued walking forward, when Chu Jianguo rushed over to grab him.

"Ah! You're so naughty!" Luo Yan shouted.

Previously, Hua Li and Li Mingzhu were talking in the corner of the bulletin board, and almost no one noticed them. Now that Hua Li has come out and Luo Yan has shouted, they have attracted the attention of everyone in the compound who is passing by on their way home from get off work.

Chu Jianguo was only angry at Hua Li's rudeness towards his mother and had no intention of harming Hua Li, but Luo Yan's crying and shouting immediately changed the nature of the situation.

Hua Li protected Luo Yan and ran forward for a distance before stopping and turning to face Chu Jianguo.

"Who are you, and what do you want?"

If anyone knows Chu Jianguo, please tell Hua Li.

"He is Chu Jianguo, the eldest son of Deputy Chief of Staff Chu. He is not a bad person, so don't be afraid."

She was in the compound and wasn't worried about Chu Jianguo doing anything to her. She just wanted to make a big scene so that the Chu family wouldn't bother her again in the future.

Chu Jianguo's face turned bright red with embarrassment when his identity was exposed.

"I don't mean anything by it, I just want to tell you that my mother is an elder, and I hope you can be more polite to her."

Hua Li laughed angrily, "You scared my daughter to tears, just so I would be more polite to your mother? Ha, fine, then let everyone judge whether I was impolite or your mother was unreasonable."

Liu Jingqiu has already lost face, so we can't let anything happen to her son. Li Mingzhu rushed over and grabbed Chu Jianguo, then said to Hua Li.

"It was my fault. We'll do it your way. I promise you'll see it before you go to work tomorrow morning."

After saying that, Li Mingzhu pulled Chu Jianguo away.

Chu Jianguo had never suffered such humiliation since he was a child, and he turned back to Hua Li indignantly.
