Chapter Forty-Eight: The Baby's Complaint

Mo Xian didn't want to hit the child in someone else's house, but the brat was too infuriating.

After beating Mo Sanshan, Mo Xian forced Mo Sanshan to wipe it quickly. After that, the basin for washing the rags became Mo Sanshan's exclusive property until it was worn through before it was replaced.

Luo Yan found Mo Sanshan's pitiful cries in the courtyard quite pleasant, though a bit noisy after a while.

Xiao Xiu tried to cover Luo Yan's ears, but Luo Yan didn't need it. She turned on the TV to watch cartoons and stopped making noise.

Mo Sanshan, sniffling and with teary eyes, wiped the window, and then saw the animated film "Havoc in Heaven" playing on TV. Sun Wukong was holding his golden cudgel, looking incredibly cool...

Luo Yan watched as Mo Sanshan wiped the glass, and before he had even cleaned the mud off, he pressed his face against it. She couldn't help but giggle.

Xiao Xiu was engrossed in watching the animation when she was drawn by Luo Yan's cheerful laughter. Following Luo Yan's gaze, she frowned in disdain.

Mo Sanshan snapped out of his daze and realized what had gotten on his face. He couldn't hold back any longer and burst into tears.

Mo Xian felt ashamed, so he grabbed a rag and quickly wiped the glass clean. Then he carried the basin in one hand and the child in the other and went home.

Luo Yan laughed until her stomach hurt, and she rolled around on the sofa. Xiao Xiu helplessly helped Luo Yan up and pointed to the TV.

Hua Li came out to see what was going on when she heard her daughter's happy laughter. Just then, Luo Shicheng returned, and their eyes met. Luo Shicheng raised the lunchbox in his hand to Hua Li.

"Today we have eggplant with pork slices and chicken stew with mushrooms, which are all your favorites."

Hua Li turned to go to the kitchen to get bowls and chopsticks, only noticing the messy dining table as she passed by...

The table was covered in sticky rice water, half-dry and dripping everywhere, with bits of egg skin mixed in.

Hua Li hurriedly grabbed a rag to wipe the table, but the wet rag made the rice balls sticky, which drove Hua Li crazy.

Faced with this situation, Luo Shicheng knew he had to remain hidden, standing quietly to the side like a statue.

After wiping the table, Hua Li ladled out three bowls of rice and placed them on the table, then invited Luo Yan and Xiao Xiu to come and eat.

Seeing this, Luo Shicheng went to the kitchen to get bowls and chopsticks, served himself rice, and sat down next to Hua Li.

Hua Li didn't want to eat with Luo Shicheng, so she got up to leave, but Luo Shicheng grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.

"I have to leave this afternoon because of my mission..."

Hua Li paused, then sat back down under the watchful eyes of the two children.

Luo Shicheng released Hua Li's hand, moved the leftovers from breakfast in front of him, and began to eat them in silence.

The chopsticks reached for the chopped vegetables, but were stopped by a small hand.

Luo Yan pointed to the chopped vegetables and then to her own mouth, scrunching her little face, "Hiss hiss..."

Upon seeing this, Hua Li picked up a small piece of chopped vegetables and tasted it, his eyes instantly flashing with murderous intent.

Luo Shicheng was completely bewildered. "W-what happened?"

"You put chili peppers in the food you feed your child?"

Luo Shicheng nodded blankly, "Just pick the ones you grew in the backyard. I've tasted them, they're not spicy."

Hua Li was so angry that her chest heaved violently.

"Do you know how delicate a child's skin is? Even if it's not spicy for adults, it will make a child's skin burn."

Luo Shicheng knew he had committed another unforgivable crime, and sadly put down his chopsticks. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again."

Instead of constantly apologizing and saying sorry, you should avoid making mistakes in the first place.

Hua Li had never been so fierce to Luo Shicheng. Aside from feeling a little uncomfortable, Luo Shicheng found her just as adorable as his fierce daughter.

"Let's eat. I promise I won't do it again."

Hua Li rolled her eyes at Luo Shicheng, then angrily picked up a piece of tender chicken and gave it to Luo Yan.

Luo Yan smiled and ate her chicken while watching her father's antics.

Luo Shicheng smiled wryly and affectionately pinched Luo Yan's little nose.

After finishing his meal, Luo Shicheng gave Hua Li some instructions.

"If you need anything, go to Commander Sun, or Chen Yuanshan. Don't make yourself suffer or be afraid of trouble. I'll repay the favor when I get back."

She still owed Sun Bailing a favor, and he had the nerve to bring it up? Hua Li hummed in response.

After finishing his meal, Luo Shicheng washed the dishes, dried his hands, picked up Luo Yan, and kissed her repeatedly.

Luo Yan, something seems off about Dad.

Reluctantly putting Luo Yan down, Luo Shicheng bid farewell to Hua Li.

"I'm leaving. Take care of yourself. I've already spoken to Mo Xian, so don't worry, he'll be fine."

"Really? Well, thank you so much."

Hua Li sneered, “They’re not dealing with the people who are really causing her trouble; they’re just trying to fool her with scraps.”

Sensing Hua Li's sarcastic tone, Luo Shicheng pondered.

Luo Yan shook her head as she watched, pinching her father hard through his pants with her little hand.

My little hand pinched a bit of skin and twisted it around; it actually hurt quite a bit.

Luo Shicheng gasped and suddenly realized something.

"Liu Jingqiu will post the apology letter on the bulletin board first thing tomorrow morning. Also, when you go to work on Monday, take Yanyan directly to kindergarten. Yanyan is in the junior class this time."

"Just write an apology letter?" Hua Li turned to look at Luo Shicheng and asked.

Luo Shicheng: "Liu Jingqiu has moved out of the compound and no longer works at the supply and marketing cooperative."

Hua Li frowned. "I didn't want to kick her out of the compound, nor did I insist that she leave the supply and marketing cooperative. What I want is for you to guarantee that since you refuse to divorce me, Liu Jingqiu will stop causing trouble for me and bullying Yan Yan because of you."

Luo Shicheng couldn't answer Hua Li because he wasn't Liu Jingqiu, nor could he make any promises to Hua Li.

Luo Shicheng left without saying a word, walked through the courtyard, opened the gate, and went out.

Luo Yan peered out the window and could vaguely see someone at the door, but she couldn't make out who it was. She guessed that the person had run out to look and disappeared, so Luo Yan didn't chase after them.

That afternoon, after Luo Shicheng left, Chen Yuanshan brought good news: Wu Xiangru, the original principal of the kindergarten, had been dismissed, and Lin Qingping had taken over as principal. Luo Yan could return to the kindergarten the next day, but not for a short break.

Chen Yuanshan planned to take Xiaoxiu to Sun Bailing's house, where a nanny could take care of her.

Xiao Xiu understood, and holding Luo Yan's hand, tears welled up in her eyes.

These past few days, Luo Yan had gotten used to Xiao Xiu's company, and she was a little reluctant to part with him suddenly.

Luo Shicheng had gone on a mission, and Hua Li was about to go to work. With a neighbor like Wu Cuihua, no one would feel at ease leaving her home alone during her short break.

Hua Li tidied up Xiao Xiu's change of clothes and handed them to Chen Yuanshan. Luo Yan let go of Xiao Xiu's hand.

Xiao Xiu cautiously tugged at Hua Li's sleeve, gazing at Hua Li with pleading eyes, her dark eyes filled with tears.

Even Chen Yuanshan, let alone the soft-hearted Hua Li, felt a pang of guilt.

"How about I pick Xiaoxiu up during the day and take her to Commander Sun's house, and then bring her back in the evening so she can keep Yanyan company? What do you think?"

After a short rest in the evening, she would just take a nap and it wouldn't affect Hua Li much. Luo Yan would also have someone to keep her company. Hua Li nodded.

"Then it's settled..." Chen Yuanshan and Xiao Xiu exchanged a smile.

It was already getting dark, and Chen Yuanshan couldn't stay any longer, so he said goodbye and was about to leave when suddenly his pants were grabbed. He looked down and saw Luo Yan.

Luo Yan reached out to Chen Yuanshan for a hug, then pointed to the door.

Chen Yuanshan carried Luo Yan out the door, and Luo Yan continued to point.

Arriving at the door next door, Luo Yan knocked on the door, startling Wu Cuihua, who was peeking from behind it.
