Chapter Ninety-Five: Luo Yan's Outburst

As Wu Cuihua stepped out the door, she saw Luo Shicheng standing blankly at the entrance of the neighboring courtyard, his straight figure like a lonely poplar tree.

Luo Shicheng was already handsome with striking features and an imposing presence. But now, hearing the laughter from inside the door, he looked desolate and pitifully broken. Wu Cuihua's eyes lit up.

This morning, Mo Xian presented her with divorce papers to sign...

Because Wu Cuihua had given all of her family's savings to her parents' family, Mo Xian would have to proceed with a forced divorce if she didn't sign the papers, so Wu Cuihua had no choice but to sign.

How could she possibly be willing to leave the compound after being the wife of a battalion commander for so many years and have to find a way to support herself?

It just so happens that Hua Li and Luo Shicheng are at odds, so let Luo Shicheng divorce Hua Li and she marry Luo Shicheng.

Mo Xian is a battalion commander, and so is Luo Shicheng. Moreover, Luo Shicheng is younger than Mo Xian and has a better family background. No matter how you look at it, she's the one who's gained.

Wu Cuihua felt increasingly pleased with herself and stepped forward to express her thoughts directly.

Luo Shicheng had never been afraid of anything since he was a child, but after hearing what Wu Cuihua said, he was so frightened that he forgot his sadness and ran away.

"Battalion Commander Luo! Battalion Commander Luo! Don't run away!"

Wu Cuihua called out to Luo Shicheng as if summoning his soul, but Luo Shicheng ran away the more she called, and bumped into Mo Xian who was walking home.

This was the first time Mo Xian had ever seen Luo Shicheng so flustered, and he found it very strange.

"Battalion Commander Luo, what's wrong with you?"

Upon seeing that it was Mo Xian, Luo Shicheng, his breath unsteady, said, "Mo Xian."

"Battalion Commander Mo, please be careful to handle the aftermath of your divorce so as not to cause trouble for others."

Having said that, Luo Shicheng rode off in a cloud of dust and disappeared from sight.

Mo Xian was completely confused. When he turned around, he saw Wu Cuihua chasing after him. She was no longer as pitiful as she had been in the morning. Instead, she looked at him with contempt.

Mo Xian felt completely bewildered...

While Wu Cuihua was talking to Luo Shicheng, Hua Li noticed that it was getting late, so he got off his bicycle and took one adult and two children to the backyard to pick vegetables. Therefore, he did not hear Wu Cuihua's shocking remarks.

Chen Yuanshan couldn't forget Hua Li's braised pork, so he brought the pork over today to ask Hua Li to help him cook it. Hua Li happened to be learning to ride a bicycle, so he held the back of the bicycle and started teaching her.

Unfortunately, Hua Li was clumsy and timid. After learning for a long time, he would fall to the ground as soon as Chen Yuanshan let go of his grip. He was so embarrassed in front of the two children that he simply gave up and started picking vegetables and cooking.

Chen Yuanshan couldn't stay long, and besides, stewing meat takes time, so he left first and would come back to pick it up in an hour.

When Xia Suya and Luo Zhaoxing were alive, Hua Li had made braised pork belly, which they both ate with great relish. Now that she was making it again, her in-laws couldn't taste it, and Hua Li missed it terribly.

Just then, the phone rang, and Luo Yan immediately ran over to answer it.

Hua Li knew it was just her in-laws trying to chat with their granddaughter again, so she didn't pay any attention. But then Luo Yan answered the phone and called out to Hua Li.

"Mommy, Mommy, Grandma..."

Hearing that it was Xia Suya who was looking for her, Hua Li closed the stove door, simmered the meat in the pot over low heat, and quickly walked through the kitchen to answer the phone.

"Mom, you wanted to see me?" Hua Li sat down on the sofa, and Xiao Xiu immediately picked up the teapot and poured her a cup of tea.

Hua Li, parched from the heat of the stove, said thank you, picked up the teacup, and drank it all in one gulp.

On the other end, Xia Suya heard Hua Li's voice and said.

“Your dad and I have talked to Cheng Yi and his wife about Xiao Xiu. They want to come and see Xiao Xiu. Ask Xiao Xiu if he wants to see his parents. If he does, I’ll take them to see the child.”

Xiao Xiu poured Hua Li another cup of tea, put down the teapot and continued playing tangram with Luo Yan. When Hua Li called him, he turned around and looked over.

Hua Li, "Yan Yan's grandma has already spoken to your father. Your parents want to come and see you. Do you want to see your parents?"

Cheng Yi and his wife Gu Xiushou listened intently to the phone, their hands clenched tightly together, like prisoners awaiting sentencing.

Upon hearing Hua Li mention his parents, Xiao Xiu's expression darkened, and he shook his head in disagreement.

"Don't you want to see your mom and dad?" Children rely on their parents the most, how could they not want to? Hua Li was surprised.

Hua Li picked up Luo Yan's backpack, which she had left on the sofa, and took out paper and pen for Xiao Xiu.

"Can you tell Auntie why she doesn't want to see Mom and Dad?"

Xiao Xiu picked up a pen and paper and wrote on it stroke by stroke, while Hua Li read it aloud word by word.

"I don't have a mom or dad."

When Gu Xiu heard Hua Li read those words aloud, she couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

Cheng Yi shouted into the microphone.

"Cheng Dehuai, if you dare say such things again, I'll skin you alive."

Cheng Yichen, being sensible, took a handkerchief to wipe Gu Xiu's tears, patted Cheng Yi's back and chest, and raised his voice to tell him to take a short break.

"Your parents are going crazy because you ran away from home. No matter how willful you are, you can't say that you don't have your parents. Do you know how heartbroken your parents are to hear you say that?"

Hua Li couldn't detect any concern in the other person's crying and attempts to comfort them; all she heard was extreme repression.

Seeing Xiao Xiu standing silently, looking as if abandoned by the whole world, Hua Li tenderly pulled Xiao Xiu into her arms and lovingly rubbed Xiao Xiu's head.

Hearing the boy's cryptic remarks, Luo Yan finally understood the truth behind Xiao Xiu's refusal to see his parents, and she leaned closer to the microphone to loudly accuse him.

"Bad brother, bad brother, piupiu."

If you dare to bully Xiaoxiu again, I will represent the people and justice and shoot you.

When Cheng Yichen heard the childish voice scolding him fiercely, he nestled into Gu Xiu's arms, feeling wronged.

"Little brother, why are you letting your sister call me bad? I know you hate me. I promise you, I'll leave as soon as you come back. I won't fight with you for Mom and Dad. Please stop letting your sister scold me, okay?"

Are Xiaoxiu's parents out of their minds? Can't they see through such an obvious attempt to spread rumors and backtrack?

Taking advantage of Xiao Xiu's inability to speak, Luo Yan was furious.

Luo Yan grabbed Xiao Xiu's hand and stuffed the pen into it.

If you can't say it, then write it down; you must expose his pretense.

Xiao Xiu understood Luo Yan's meaning, but he didn't want to write it. Hua Li, however, strongly agreed and persuaded Xiao Xiu to write it.

"Auntie knows you're upset, but if you don't tell me, how will anyone know what you've been wronged about? Write it down quickly, and Auntie will read it to you."

At this moment, Xia Suya, who hadn't spoken for a long time, continued.

"Xiao Xiu, your Aunt Hua is right. Write it down. Even if your parents can't stand up for you, with your grandparents, Aunt Hua, and Uncle Luo around, at least they can ensure that your parents won't continue to aid and abet evil."

Furthermore, if they insist on taking you away, we have grounds to leave you behind or apply to our superiors to revoke their guardianship.

Xiao Xiu heard this, paused for a moment, then picked up a pen and wrote it down.

"My parents won't believe me. Let them go and I'll tell them."

When Gu Xiu heard Hua Li read it aloud, she burst into tears. Cheng Yi frowned so deeply that he could have trapped a fly in his brow, and Cheng Yichen immediately spoke up.

“Brother, I know you want to say bad things about me, and you're afraid that Mom and Dad will defend me, so you asked them to leave.”

But I told you, I'll leave as soon as you come back, you don't need to go to all this trouble.
