Chapter 172 Pretending to be a Treasure

Gu Rong pushed open the courtyard gate and walked into the courtyard.

After locking the door, Gu Rong led Gu Xing directly into the basement entrance.

Gu Xing, still a little scared, peered into the dusty room under the dim moonlight and leaned close to Gu Rong, saying, "Sister, there's nothing here. Shall we go back?"

Gu Rong held Gu Xing's hand and gently comforted him, "Brother, don't be afraid, there's no danger here. Come with me."

As she spoke, she felt around on the wall and found a hidden mechanism.

With a slight sound, the hidden door to the basement slowly opened, and a damp smell wafted out.

Gu Xing was so frightened he almost screamed, but Gu Rong quickly covered his mouth: "Shh, don't talk, or we'll be in big trouble if someone finds out."

"Okay," Gu Xing nodded obediently, and although she was scared, she still walked in front of Gu Rong.

One after the other, the two cautiously entered the basement, which was pitch black inside.

Gu Rong took out a flashlight from her pocket and illuminated the road ahead.

The dim light illuminated the basement, and Gu Xing could then see that it was filled with all sorts of boxes.

Gu Rong walked to a box, opened it, and found it full of gold, silver and jewels, as well as some precious calligraphy and paintings.

Gu Xing stared in surprise, her eyes wide: "Little sister, where did all of this come from?"

Gu Rong smiled mysteriously: "This was left by my maternal grandfather and the others. They said we could take it out and use it if needed later."

Gu Xing was still a little worried: "But we can't move all this stuff. What if someone finds out?"

Gu Rong patted his shoulder and removed the invisibility talisman from his body: "Go and see if there's anything you like in here, and we'll hide it."

Upon hearing that it was hidden, Gu Xing immediately became interested and leaned forward to search for it.

Gu Rong naturally didn't dare to stand still and went forward to examine the boxes.

As she looked around, she noticed something different, because she had seen some of the items in boxes in the east, south, north, and south of the city.

Moreover, looking at the hundreds of boxes in the basement, there were only a dozen or so boxes in the basement behind Gu Qiang's house.

Even if he's a spendthrift, he wouldn't have squandered this much money over the years.

And the fact that she's standing right here is a good indication that she's moved something from here.

Gu Rong looked at the items inside and tried to collect some of them into her spatial storage.

Some things are easy to put away, but others are very difficult.

Following this feeling, Gu Rong first put away the ones with less resistance, and then gradually increased the resistance.

After checking all the boxes, it was found that much of the stuff in the basement was gone.

Gu Xing only thought about collecting things he liked, and didn't pay attention to these things; he was focused on finding things he liked.

When they had found almost everything, Gu Rong walked over to Gu Xing and said, "Put the things you like in the box, and I'll have someone move them in a bit."

Gu Xing excitedly put the treasures she had chosen into the box, patted her chest and said, "Little sister, I can help carry them too."

Seeing that Gu Xing, who was initially frightened, was now showing no fear at all, Gu Rong smiled and shook her head: "You don't need to move it, I have a way."

She planned in her mind that once Gu Xing went out first, she would use her spatial powers to move these things away without anyone noticing.

Hearing Gu Rong's words, Gu Xing nodded obediently and put the selected items into one of the boxes.

After glancing at the remaining few boxes, Gu Rong felt there was no need to take up so many, so she started to work with Gu Xing to gather them together.

Once everything was mostly tidied up, Gu Rong pulled Gu Xing to the basement entrance: "I forgot something, I'll go down and get it. Wait for me here, and call me loudly if you need anything."

"Sister, let me go with you," Gu Xing said, worried about Gu Rong going down alone. More importantly, he was afraid to leave her here.

Seeing his expression, Gu Rong smiled and handed him the flashlight: "Here's the flashlight. Don't be afraid, I'll be back soon."

Gu Xing gripped the flashlight tightly, standing at the basement entrance, his eyes fixed on the inside, silently praying for his sister to come back soon.

Gu Rong quickly ran to the basement, took out another flashlight, and began to collect the empty boxes.

After quickly finishing collecting the items, Gu Rong went straight to the entrance, placed invisibility talismans on the two of them, and led Gu Xing back.

On the way back, Gu Rong whispered to Gu Xing, "Don't tell anyone about what happened today, okay?"

Gu Xing nodded obediently: "Yes, I know. I won't tell anyone, not even Mom and Dad."

After the two returned home, Gu Rong removed the invisibility talisman and told Gu Xing to go back to his room to sleep.

Gu Rong did not return to her room, but instead went to the east, west, south, and north of the city again, putting the items from her spatial storage into each location.

By the time she had settled everything, it was already late at night.

Gu Rong rubbed her sore eyes and dragged her tired body home.

Before I even got home, I saw Gu Qiang sneaking out.

Gu Rong immediately reapplied the invisibility talisman and followed Gu Qiang to see what he was going to do.

Gu Qiang quietly left, quickly walked to Qingren Lane, and knocked on Bai Rou's door.

After what happened during the day, the two of them went to Bai Rou's side.

When Bai Rou heard that they had so openly kidnapped Gu Rong during the day, she was terrified.

Especially considering that the two grown men hadn't even caught a child, and she had managed to escape, Bai Rou hadn't expected it at all.

Upon seeing the two people running over, she sent someone to inform Gu Qiang, but he couldn't come directly and had to sneak over in the middle of the night.

So Bai Rou had been waiting for him for a while. When she heard the knock, she immediately ran to open the door and brought him inside.

Gu Qiang looked at the two people inside and couldn't help but frown: "You two grown men can't even catch a child?"

"If you can't catch them, fine, but why did you chase after them? Aren't you afraid of being arrested and executed?"

The tall, burly man's face darkened upon hearing this: "Didn't you say back then that you had to bring him back no matter what method you used?"

At the time, I thought, "That's just a little kid. Even if she's amazing, can she compare to us adults?" Who would have thought that brat would recover so quickly?

Anyway, we've done what you asked us to do. Failing to catch them is another matter. You can't shortchange us by a single penny, or we'll turn ourselves in and send you in with us. Two worthless lives don't matter, but you're a different story!

Gu Qiang didn't intend to shortchange them, after all, just as they said, they were worthless, while he was the man who would become the factory manager in the future.

But listening to what he said made me feel very uncomfortable.
