Chapter 16: Can Speak

Seeing that the old couple of the Gu family ran away, the people in the compound also dispersed.

Gu Dong poked his head out from inside: "Big sister, what is a burden? Am I a burden?"

Gu Chun's face darkened. He quickly pulled the two older ones in, closed the door, and began to counsel them:

"You are not a burden to my sister. We are a family and will always be relatives."

"But sister, if it weren't for us, you would have been able to get married. What if you can't get married with us?"

"You're so young, what do you know about marriage? Your sister doesn't even want to get married right now. Besides, how can someone who despises you and refuses to marry me be a good person?"

Gu Qiu didn't understand, but he felt that his sister was very domineering.

"You are still young now, and I will take care of you. When you grow up and are able, and I need your help, will you dislike me?"

Gu Qiu quickly said, "How could that be? How could we dislike my sister? When I grow up, I will definitely make a lot of money for you."

Gu Xia also nodded.

Gu Dong was afraid that everyone would ignore her, so she jumped up and down with her hands raised: "And me, and me, big sister, when I grow up, I will be super rich, and I will make a hundred yuan for you to spend."

One hundred yuan is a huge sum of money for her. She usually has no pocket money, and the candy her sister bought her can be bought for ten yuan with one cent.

The three older children were also amused by her, and the atmosphere at home became joyful.

I have to say that Gu Dong is the happy pill of this family and he can always liven up the atmosphere.

Gu Chun smiled and touched her head. She squinted her eyes like a kitten.

In the evening, Gu Chun called Gu Qiu to come and sleep together. Xiao Zhuzi was taken away by Gu Xia and slept with his brother tonight.

The original body had a very quiet and introverted personality and seldom talked with her family, so Gu Qiu didn't understand what her sister wanted to say to her.

She went to take a shower, and when she came back, Gu Chun was already half lying on the bed, reading a book.

Seeing her come out, Gu Chun called her: "Are you done washing? Come over and lie down."

"good."

Gu Qiu lay down next to her sister. The quilt was warm and her sister smelled sweet, like vanishing cream. It reminded her of her mother who had passed away not long ago.

"Qiu'er, are you doing well in school recently?"

Why would my sister suddenly ask this?

"I'm fine, sis. Nothing's wrong."

Gu Chun was busy with Gu Xia's medical treatment and Gu Dong's schooling these past two days, and was worried that he would neglect his second sister. As the head of the family, he had to treat everyone equally.

"I'm glad you're okay. I've been busy with your brother's medical treatment these past two days and haven't been able to take care of you. If anything happens, you have to tell me in time, okay?"

In the darkness, Gu Qiu's mouth moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she still spoke:

"Okay, sister, nothing much has happened recently. If there is anything, I will tell you."

Gu Chun has a keen eye for observation. She knows that Gu Qiu must be hiding something from her, so she plans to go to the school in a couple of days to investigate.

The next day, Gu Chun went to work with Xiao Zhuzi again. Xiao Zhuzi drank milk these days, and Gu Chun also steamed egg custard to feed him. He looked much better.

After get off work, she took Gu Xia to see Doctor Zhang again. This time, Doctor Zhang opened the door and let them in.

Gu Chun thought, there is hope!

The brother and sister sat down in the yard. Today they brought the mung bean cakes that Gu Chun had made himself.

Doctor Zhang refused: "Don't bring all this. I'm an old man and I can't eat that much. If you really want to see a doctor, I won't charge any consultation fee. Ask your brother to come over every day to organize the herbs for me."

Gu Chun's eyes lit up, and there was a ray of hope. No matter why Dr. Zhang suddenly agreed to treat Gu Xia, at least there was hope.

As for working, Gu Chun certainly agreed. She was not the kind of person who spoiled her children. If she wanted to see a doctor, she had to work herself.

This is also a good thing for Gu Xia, as she can learn a lot about medicinal materials.

"Of course you can. I'll have my brother come over to help you with the work after school every day. Just let him do whatever you need. He's fourteen years old and can do anything."

Gu Chun sold his brother out without any hesitation.

Gu Xia had no objection. He could get treatment without spending any money, so what was the big deal about doing some work? He was the only man in the family.

Little Bamboo: What about me?

"Well, I'll check your pulse today. If I can't cure your illness, you don't need to come back."

Doctor Zhang took Gu Xia's pulse, pinched his neck and looked at it for a few times, then said:

"It's caused by impatience. Young man, you should relax more."

"Can you cure his disease?" Gu Chun asked anxiously.

"Yes, but I can't guarantee a 100% recovery. Come here every day for acupuncture and a medicinal bath. I have all the herbs here. If everything goes well, you should be able to recover within a month."

When Gu Xia heard this, she felt much more cheerful. She hoped that he could really cure her quickly.

These days, seeing his sisters worried about him becoming mute, he felt very sad.

From that day on, Gu Xia started going to Doctor Zhang's house to get treatment and do work after school every day.

He was very smart. He could remember the herbs that Doctor Zhang taught him after just one look. If the timing wasn't so bad, Doctor Zhang would have wanted to take him in as his disciple.

During this period, Gu Xia felt that his mood was gradually getting better. When he was sorting the herbs and smelling the fragrance, he felt very peaceful inside. He slowly immersed himself in it and forgot all the troubles in the world.

In less than a month, Gu Xia was able to speak.

One morning, Gu Chun woke up early and saw him making breakfast again, so he greeted him:
