"Chun'er, have you read the announcement? It says that the Propaganda Department is recruiting, but you have to take an exam." Huang Xiuxiu ran over excitedly to Gu Chun early in the morning.
"I know. I saw it when I came this morning."
Only a week after Director Liu mentioned this matter to her, the factory issued an announcement.
She had more time to prepare than others, which was why Director Liu gave her preferential treatment because he felt the exam was a bit unfair to her.
After all, if they are recruiting internally, she, as a high school student, has the highest academic qualifications at present and generally does not need to take an exam.
But Deputy Director Wang spoke with great righteousness, and if it came to real materials, he had no way of refusing.
Everyone knows that Deputy Director Wang originally wanted to put his niece directly into the Propaganda Department, but unfortunately Gu Chun came and his plan failed, so he could only do this kind of trivial action that does not hurt him.
"Chun'er, if you want to take the exam, you must be well prepared. You have the highest academic qualification in our workshop, so you will definitely pass."
Huang Xiuxiu had great confidence in Gu Chun. As for herself, she didn't like studying and didn't want to continue going to school after finishing junior high school. Her parents were also afraid that they wouldn't be able to find a job for her, and she would have to go to the countryside.
So as soon as I had the chance, I bought her a job in the textile factory.
"I'm going to take the test, and I'll prepare well. Xiuxiu, do you want to try it too? I have high school textbooks at home and we can go through them together."
"Well, thank you, but I get a headache whenever I read. Let's forget it."
Since she didn't want to take the exam, Gu Chun didn't force her.
Huang Xiuxiu is a girl who smiles all day long. She is a mama's girl. She came to work in the textile factory just because her mother asked her to. She has no idea what she will do in the future.
However, her family is relatively well-off. Her father works in a government agency, her mother is the head nurse of a hospital, and her brother is a police officer. She is the only naive girl in the family.
Her future is arranged by her family, so she will definitely live a good life and Gu Chun doesn't have to worry about her.
The only thing she had to worry about now was the Propaganda Department exam, which she had to pass.
It's not just for a pay raise, but also because she feels her current job in the workshop is not a long-term solution.
Not to mention that workers will be laid off in the future, the noise and intensity of work in the workshops today are very energy-consuming.
Many old employees who have worked for a long time have more or less some physical problems, such as tinnitus, lumbar disc herniation, tenosynovitis, etc.
During this period, for Gu Chun's study, the family discussions were cancelled in the evening. After dinner every day, the younger siblings would keep quiet after clearing the table, take out their homework and study with Gu Chun at the table.
The strong learning atmosphere at home made Gu Chun feel embarrassed to stop thinking.
Soon the day of the exam arrived, and Gu Chun walked into the factory early in the morning and reported to the Propaganda Department. There were many people in the corridor, all reporting for the same position.
She also saw Wang Xiangxiu, but when she saw her, she hid immediately like a cat seeing a mouse.
The morning exam is a written test, which starts at 8 o'clock and lasts for one hour. The recruitment team will announce the results at noon after grading the test papers. Those who pass the written test can participate in the interview in the afternoon.
The written test began. Gu Chun sat in an office that was specially cleared out, looking at the working environment which was different from the workshop.
It is clean and hygienic, with lush greenery, birds singing and flowers blooming outside the window. I became even more determined to pass the exam for this position.
The test paper does not contain much content, all of which are from junior and senior high school textbooks, interspersed with some knowledge questions and answers about textile technology and finished fabrics.
Gu Chunben is a studious person and has a strong memory.
After two months of work, I have mastered the knowledge of textile factory work, not to mention knowing it by heart, but I have at least an 80 to 90 percent understanding of it.
After finishing the test, Gu Chun felt a little relaxed. According to her calculations, she should have answered most of the questions correctly. There were no accurate answers to the essay questions, and it depended on how many points the examiner gave.
Sure enough, when the results were announced at noon, her name was on the interview list.
After seeing the results, everyone wailed. Many workers here only have a junior high school or even elementary school education, and have only a superficial understanding of those knowledge.
As for professional knowledge, many people have it but cannot express it, and cannot write clearly.
During the interview in the afternoon, Wang Xiangxiu was not among those who entered the interview. It seemed that although this exam was proposed by her uncle, he probably had no say in it.
There were a total of 5 people interviewed, and Gu Chun was the third one to go in.
As soon as I entered, I saw three interviewers sitting there, including Director Liu and two leaders I didn’t know.
One of the leaders was a relatively young man. He smiled before he spoke and looked very lively. He looked a bit like a celebrity in the future. He made the first request:
"Comrade No. 3, please draw a picture of workers at work on the blackboard."
Gu Chun nodded. Drawing is an essential skill for a designer. In her previous life, in order to learn painting, she often went to other art departments to take courses.
She thought for a moment and drew a picture of a loom worker at work in a textile workshop. The prototype of the character was Comrade Huang Xiuxiu. In the painting, she was tying knots in the spindle. The painting was so lifelike that one could see her serious attitude towards work.
After reading it, the interviewer nodded and signaled the next interviewer to ask questions.
The next person was Director Liu, who asked some questions such as "Why did you apply to join the Propaganda Department?" and "What will you do after joining the Propaganda Department?"
Gu Chun had interviewed countless times, so these kinds of questions were very simple for her. However, in this era, she had to add some quotations to express her determination to work hard.
