Chapter 36 New Year

The next day, Officer Xiao Fang went to the textile factory to find Gu Chun and told her that the matter had been resolved.

"Comrade Gu Chun, the two elders of the Gu family and Wu Feng returned the betrothal gifts to the Tang family, but because they have backward ideas, they need to receive three days of education before they can return home."

"This is 100 yuan in compensation from the Tang family. You don't have to worry. The Tang family members involved in this incident will probably be sentenced and won't bother you again."

Gu Chun took the compensation and said, "Thank you, Officer Fang. If it weren't for your help, I don't know what I would have done."

"Serving the people is what we should do. You can come to us if you have any problems in the future."

After returning home and having a meal with the family, Uncle Gu said he wanted to go back.

"Chun'er, now that the matter has been resolved, I will go back. I will come to see you when I have time in the future."

After staying in the city for a few days, he saw that the children were living a good life, with meat and vegetables for every meal. He didn't want to stay and eat the children's food for free.

"Uncle, please stay a few more days." With his uncle at home these days, Gu Xia seemed to be much happier. Boys seemed to have a natural admiration for male elders, which was something his sister could not give him.

"Alas, I can't stay here anymore. You should study hard and eat well. After uncle goes back, he will send you some food in a few days. It's too expensive to buy food in the city."

Gu Chun was not good at refusing the kindness of his relatives: "Okay, uncle, then don't bring too heavy things. Bring Pearl along to play with as well."

"Oh, I see."

Gu Xia felt a little reluctant to leave his uncle. He hadn't seen his father for a long time. Recently, having an adult male at home gave him a great sense of security.

But he also understood that it was impossible for his uncle to stay with them forever, and the family still needed him and his sister to support it, so he did not try to keep his uncle.

But Xiao Zhuzi, when his uncle left the next day, hugged his neck and refused to let go. In the past few days, the tall uncle always held him and put him on his shoulders, letting him play happily. Now he was reluctant to let go of his uncle.

Uncle Gu was helpless. Looking at little Zhuzi, his heart was filled with love. Such a small and cute child, who looked exactly like his younger brother. He was reluctant to let go and his eyes were a little red.

Gu Chun was helpless. The two were still inseparable. "Xiao Zhuzi, come here. Sister will make some milk for you."

When Xiao Zhuzi heard her sister's voice, she stopped hugging her uncle and leaned over to throw herself into Gu Chun's arms, laughing happily.

Gu Chun carried him back and gestured to Gu Xia to quickly get his uncle out of Xiao Zhuzi's sight.

So it was not until night that Xiao Zhuzi discovered that his uncle was missing.

Gu Chun held him and searched everywhere in the house, even lifting the quilt to look for him. Only then did little Zhuzi accept the fact that his uncle was not there, and he burst into tears on the spot.

"Don't cry, don't cry, little Zhuzi." Gu Chun coaxed the child and took the calf for him to play with.

Gu Dong made a face at the side: "Little Zhuzi is such a crybaby, how shameless!"

Little Zhuzi was not convinced, so she stopped crying and pointed at Gu Dong and muttered to her elder sister.

Gu Xia was very surprised: "Sister, is he complaining?"

Gu Chun also laughed: "That should be the case, but I don't understand his baby talk."

The whole family was amused by little Zhuzi and started laughing. Little Zhuzi looked confused and didn't understand why his brothers and sisters were laughing. He was infected and started laughing in a baby voice.

Soon it was the end of 1974, and the textile factory began its Spring Festival holiday. Gu Chun received a gift from the factory: a cured duck, a box of cakes, a piece of cloth, and a few pork tickets.

Otherwise, why would they all want to be workers? This holiday gift is really generous, enough for their family to eat for a long time.

A few days before the Chinese New Year, Gu Chun took Gu Xia, Gu Qiu and Gu Dong, who were on winter vacation, to clean the house together.

Uncle Gu came with Gu Zhenzhu and gave them a large basket of vegetables and a bag of grain.

Gu Chun asked them to sit down and was surprised to see so many things. Uncle Gu could actually carry such heavy food here by himself.

"Uncle." Gu Xia hurried forward. He missed his uncle very much.

"Uncle, you're here. What delicious food did you bring us?" Gu Dong was a foodie. Seeing that his uncle brought a lot of things, he was very curious.

Gu Qiu hurried to pour tea for his uncle and cousin.

Xiao Zhuzi stared at his uncle for a while before recognizing him. He hugged Uncle Gu's neck and spit on his face. Uncle Gu seemed to enjoy the kiss.

Gu Chun greeted Gu Zhenzhu: "You are Zhenzhu's cousin, right? Thanks to you for reminding uncle about what happened last time."

When Gu Zhenzhu came to her second uncle's house in the city for the first time, she saw the cousin Gu Chun her father had mentioned. As he said, she was very beautiful, had a good temperament, and was a very capable person.

There are also several good-looking cousins. After comparing them, she found that she and Gu Dabao have nothing in common with them. Her father and third uncle both look very ordinary. As their daughter, she is just a little better than them.

"Hello cousin, I just got lucky last time. I'm glad you're okay." Gu Zhenzhu looks more like her mother. She originally had a very heroic appearance, but when she smiled, she had two dimples, which made her look even sweeter. She was a little sweet girl.

Gu Chun immediately took a liking to her: "I'm fine. Thanks to my uncle for reminding me, we were able to find a good police comrade to help in advance. Oh, let's not talk about this during the New Year. Cousin Zhenzhu, I heard from my uncle that you have finished high school, right?"

Gu Zhenzhu smiled with a hint of helplessness: "Yes, I graduated from high school, but it's useless. I can't find a job."
