Chapter 100 Clearing the Snow

After finishing these things, Lin Siya turned around and went to the kitchen.

It is impossible to make ice cream these days because the conditions and materials are not available.

Lin Siya tried hard to recall the ice cream she had eaten as a child. In fact, they were made of very simple ingredients, such as red beans and mung beans. There were even simpler ones, which were just melted with sugar and frozen into popsicles. Don’t underestimate these popsicles, they are very thirst-quenching.

Take out a bag of mung beans and a bag of red beans from the space, wash them clean, and put them in the pot to cook.

These two things take a long time to cook, so Lin Siya simply stuffed two large pieces of wood into the two stoves and left them alone.

He took out more than a dozen basins of different sizes from the space, some made of wood and some made of plastic. These were the spoils of his previous robberies.

Use water to clean all the basins, big and small, and then fill them with water.

Considering that there would definitely be people coming to her yard, Lin Siya took all the basins of water, big and small, into the utility room.

The temperature there had already been below zero, so there was no problem in freezing the water in the basin into ice cubes, but it would just take longer.

Lin Siya planned to use all the ice cubes in these basins for cooling down in the summer, so it didn't matter whether they were clean or not. She also had to freeze some edible ice cubes and use them to make red bean shaved ice, fruit shaved ice, etc., which should be very good.

Lin Siya spent the entire afternoon freezing ice, sweeping snow, boiling beans, and making sugar water. She used up all the basins, wooden barrels, and pots in the house. She believed that after just one night, the water would turn into ice, which would bring her coolness in the summer.

As for making popsicles, since she didn't have a mold, Lin Siya could only use a bowl at home. She put the boiled beans in the bowl and then put it outside to freeze.

When all the usable bowls were used up and only a few were left for eating, I realized that I still had more than half of the red beans and mung beans I had boiled.

There was no other way, so I had to find two large basins, put all the boiled beans in the basins, and then put them in the space, thinking that it would be great to use them to pour over shaved ice in the summer.

After finishing all these, just as she was about to take a break, Lin Siya heard a noisy sound coming from outside the house. Unsure of what was going on, she opened the gate and saw a group of old men and women, neighbors on both sides, some holding shovels, some holding brooms, and other holding various tools, working hard to clear the snow on the ground.

Since today is a working day, most of the young people around here have gone to work, so most of the people who went out are middle-aged and elderly people.

Seeing this situation, Lin Siya took a shovel from home and joined the team in clearing the snow.

The snow on the ground is very thick, and it is very difficult to clean it. The only good thing now is that there are not many people walking on the road, and the snow has not been stepped on by anyone, otherwise it would be even more difficult to clean.

"I never thought it would snow so heavily in our place. I haven't seen such heavy snow in years."

"What's the big deal, old man? I remember there was a snowfall here many years ago, and it was even heavier than this."

Really? Why don't I remember?

Oh, you hadn't moved here yet. It was more than ten years ago. I remember the snow was so heavy that we couldn't even open the door. At that time, everyone was short of food and clothing, and many people froze to death in the snow.

Recalling that snowstorm, the old man who was clearing the snow also sighed.

I heard that several houses in the east of the city were collapsed by the snow.

Really, that's a lot of suffering. In such a cold day, has anyone died?

I heard that the injuries were serious, but I don’t know whether anyone was killed.

"How could they be so careless when it snows so heavily? Luckily, every household in our neighborhood has been notified, otherwise several families would have been affected."

"Who says it's not true? The New Year is coming soon, and there's been such a heavy snowfall. It's going to be even harder to buy New Year's items.

"Hey, you don't have to worry about these. As the saying goes, auspicious snow means a good harvest. Maybe next year we will definitely have good weather and good harvests!"

While helping everyone clear the snow, Lin Siya listened to the neighbors talking about all kinds of gossip, which she found quite interesting.

However, I still feel a little worried when I heard that several houses collapsed under the snow.

Lin Siya worked with everyone for a long time and finally cleared the snow on the road. Everyone piled all the snow on both sides of the road, leaving a path for people to walk.

I looked up at the sky, it was gray and I didn’t know if it would snow again.

She wiped the sweat from her forehead, thinking of the injured people and hoping they would be safe.

Back home, Lin Siya looked at the ice cubes and beans she had frozen, feeling a sense of accomplishment. Although the snow had brought some trouble, it also made her feel the warmth and solidarity among her neighbors.

As night gradually fell, everything around began to quiet down. Snowflakes began to fall again in Lin Siya's plastic sky. It seemed that today was destined to be another sleepless night.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Lin Siya opened the door and saw Fu Sinian standing at the door covered in snow. "Sinian, why are you here?" Lin Siya asked in surprise.
