Chapter 11 Recommendations (1/2)

Chapter 11 Recommendations

When Su Tao arrived at the temporary housing site for educated youth, many of them had already arrived. At lunch, they ate Su Tao's delicious large intestines, which some found tasty, and everyone's relationship with Su Tao became much closer.

"Su Tao, we are cooking. Do you want to eat together later? We can make more." A male educated youth in the greenhouse greeted enthusiastically, holding a large spoon in his hand.

"Don't bother, I still have some leftover buns from lunch, I'll have one for dinner." Everyone thought, well, who would want these if they had meat buns? Thinking of Su Tao's buns, everyone suddenly felt even hungrier. Every day, they ate sweet potato porridge and vegetables, with no oil or water at all. They were hungry the moment they finished eating, so the first thing they did after work was cook.

The educated youth had a dedicated person in charge of cooking, and the educated youth team would give them some extra wages. When the educated youth first arrived, they didn't have any wages, so everyone paid for food.

Su Tao didn't pay the extra meal bill, nor did she intend to. Accustomed to all sorts of delicious food in the 21st century, she couldn't stomach the communal meals of the educated youths. Fortunately, she didn't eat much at each meal, and the money and coupons her family gave her would last her for a while. She could deal with the future later.

Su Tao dragged his tired body into the dormitory. Almost all the female educated youth had arrived, lying on the beds to rest or chat.

As soon as Su Tao came in, everyone's eyes were almost all on her. Seeing Su Tao's exhausted appearance and the wound on her hand, they were filled with curiosity, sympathy, and even gloating.

Seeing Su Tao's haggard appearance, Sun Chuanfang was delighted. She felt relieved from the anger she had endured in the past few days. Looking at Su Tao's still beautiful face, she secretly cursed Su Tao for having endless farm work to do. She seemed to see Su Tao being wasted like a yellow-faced woman, and she felt happy.

"Taotao, what's wrong with your hand?" Hu Xiao pulled Su Tao over and asked in a low voice.

"That? It's nothing. I accidentally cut my hand while harvesting rice." Su Tao said casually. It wasn't a big wound, just a deep one. I doubt it will heal by tomorrow. Su Tao was also considering whether to exchange the 20 points he earned for a pair of gloves to make it easier to work tomorrow.

"You must be very tired today, right? He Chuan always has the most and most tiring work to do. Look how haggard you are." Hu Xiao felt distressed when he saw Su Tao drooping like a listless kitten.

Su Tao waved her hand weakly. "Is everything alright? Not that tired. It's mainly because the sun is too strong and I'm a little dizzy." She really didn't do any farm work; He Chuan did most of the work himself. The sun-protective clothing was only available later; the front was really burned by the sun and she was almost getting a heat stroke.

"I wanted to talk to you about this today, but He Xinyi interrupted me and you went after He Chuan, so I didn't have the chance." Hu Xiao pulled Su Tao out of the dormitory and found a secluded place before speaking.

"Stay away from He Chuan when you work for the next two days. I heard that he has a bad background and was sent here as punishment because of something wrong at home. He Chuan is very vicious and was even disciplined for a while after a fight with someone. Even though he is young, no one in the village dares to mess with him." Hu Xiao looked very cautious, fearing that Su Tao would be implicated because of his connection with him.

Su Tao remained silent, pursing his lips in thought. He recalled He Chuan's stern warning earlier, which had been to keep her away from him and avoid any involvement. Was he worried she'd get too close and become entangled? The image of the man's lonely, hard figure surfaced in his mind, and Su Tao felt a pang of distress.

Although they hadn't spent much time together, Su Tao could tell He Chuan wasn't a bad guy. Was there such a bad guy with a cold exterior but a warm heart? He was so fierce because he wanted to protect his family. Su Tao knew He Chuan had a young, frail sister. When their parents passed away, she was only three, and he was only sixteen. If he didn't strengthen himself, how could he protect his sister?

Su Tao knew that after a few years, the country would no longer focus on talent, but only on ability. What Su Tao had seen and heard in the past few days seemed quite different from what she had read in the book, but she felt that He Chuan would rise like a hidden dragon, becoming a business tycoon.

Su Tao's heart burned with excitement at the thought. This was the boss's worst time. It was easier to help someone in need than to add icing on the cake. She wanted to help the boss with all her might, clinging to his golden thigh while she could, constantly trying to curry his favor. Thinking of the system, Su Tao became even more excited. There was no need to worry about big things not happening!

Hu Xiao watched as Su Tao's face changed like a palette of colors, sometimes disappointed, sometimes happy, and sometimes excited. Could it be that his words had frightened Su Tao?

"Taotao, are you okay?"
