Su Tao looked at his mother with amusement and teased, "Mom, he's not your son-in-law yet, why are you protecting him? Don't worry, your future son-in-law is rich, you can keep those things with peace of mind. He used to drive a truck for others and made some money, don't worry." Su Tao didn't dare to tell his parents that He Chuan was doing business, for fear that his parents would not accept it. After all, although the market is good now, there are still many people with traditional ideas who think that this profession is not good.
Driving a truck? No wonder he's quite wealthy. Driving is a hot commodity these days. Old Tian, who lives across the street, drives for people. He bought a small house after just a few years. Look, he just moved in.
"As long as it's good for you, Mom has no other objections." Su's mother said with a sincere tone.
Su Tao and his mother were chatting happily, but there was a smell of gunpowder on the other side of the kitchen.
He Chuan followed Su's father into the kitchen. Just now, Su's mother dropped some vegetables and they rolled all over the floor. He Chuan squatted down and picked them up without waiting for Su's father to speak.
Father Su waited until He Chuan had finished picking up the vegetables and put them into the basket before he said, "Can you cook, kid?"
He Chuan grinned and said, "Yes, but it's not as delicious as the ones made in Tao Tao. Tao Tao is usually the best."
"Tao Tao?" Su's father glared at He Chuan with his eyes wide open. He actually asked his daughter to cook for him, and he had never eaten before. So, could his daughter cook? Was the food she made edible? Could it be arsenic or candied fruit?
Suddenly, Su's father's eyes softened when he looked at He Chuan. It seemed that He Chuan was a person who was sincere to Su Tao and could even eat the food cooked by his daughter.
"Can you cut vegetables?" Father Su glanced at He Chuan and pointed at the washed vegetables on the chopping board and asked.
"Yes." He Chuan didn't say much, he just picked up the kitchen knife beside him and started cutting.
Father Su looked at He Chuan's skillful movements, the rise and fall of the knife, and the smooth flow of cutting vegetables. It seemed that he had helped Su Tao cook many times in his life, and a hint of satisfaction flashed in his eyes.
Su Tao's father, a chef himself, never believed a gentleman should stay away from the kitchen or do housework. He usually cooked and cleaned the house, with Su Tao's mother occasionally helping out. Similarly, he hoped Su Tao would find someone like him who could share the burden, rather than a grown man who would just come home and leave everything unattended.
"Your knife is just okay. You should kill this fish too." Father Su said with disdain, and then handed the fish over.
He Chuan looked at Su's father's awkward expression without saying anything. He took it with a smile and said, "Okay, I still need to learn from you."
He Chuan changed a knife, first painstakingly scraped off the fish scales, then cut open the belly, took out the intestines and internal organs, and finally cut a few cuts on the surface of the fish to make it easier to flavor it.
Dad Su looked at He Chuan with a critical eye and thought that he was barely qualified.
