Chapter 23 Making Clothes 1 (2/2)

Su Tao had never thought of buying white Dacron. Although white Dacron looked good, the material was translucent and any underwear could be seen through it. Once it got wet, it would stick to the body as if nothing was being worn. If He Xinyi wanted it, he could just give it to her.

Seeing that she had successfully snatched Su Tao's cloth, He Xinyi thought she had won and stopped making trouble. She just stood aside and watched the show.

"That pink floral curling hair suits you. You can make a dress out of it." Su Tao suggested to Hu Xiao.

"But, you..." Hu Xiao hesitated.

"That's okay. I want the black polka-dot fabric," Su Tao said with a smile. She had long had her eye on this piece of fabric, but because it was a dark color, not popular with young girls, and there were only two feet left, she hadn't sold it yet. Compared to the other two pieces of fabric, this one was much cheaper.

When Hu Xiao heard this, he was shocked. Black material is usually worn by middle-aged people, and it is only 2 feet long. What can he do with it?

Su Tao gave her a reassuring look, then turned to the salesperson and said, "I want the black material, and she wants the pink material. Please help us pack it up."

Seeing that the dust had settled, He Xinyi felt that she had won. She held her head high like a proud swan and walked out of the room, pulling Shen Ziqian with her hand.

Seeing that the things had been bought, Hu Xiao was about to pull Su Tao away, but Su Tao did not move. Hu Xiao looked at Su Tao in confusion.

"Wait a minute, I want to go to the counter next to me to look at some ordinary cotton cloth." Su Tao walked to the counter next to him, where cotton cloth in four colors, white, black, blue and green, was mainly displayed.

Su Tao asked for two feet of white cotton cloth, two feet of white lining cloth, and six feet of black cotton cloth, spending 25 yuan and all the cloth coupons he had.

In those days, each person was generally given three feet and three meters of cloth coupons per year. Su Tao's father, as the manager of a state-owned restaurant, received more than others, receiving 12 feet of cloth coupons each year. His mother worked at a cotton mill, so she also had a good supply of cloth coupons. She only saved up 12 feet of cloth coupons for Su Tao once, and he spent them all that time.

Hu Xiao gasped. Even though she had witnessed Su Tao's lavish spending before, she was still shocked by his lavish spending this time. She had bought what an ordinary family would have spent several years' worth of fabric. Hu Xiao asked, her voice trembling, "Why did you buy so much fabric?"

"You'll know later!" Su Tao has always regarded Hu Xiao as a good friend and has no intention of hiding anything from Hu Xiao.

Then Hu Xiao took Su Tao to a tailor shop she often went to. The tailors in this shop were very skilled and the prices were reasonable. Hu Xiao came here every time she bought fabric.

As soon as he entered the store, Hu Xiao greeted her familiarly: "Aunt Liang, I'm here again!"

"Oh, it's Xiaoxiao. What's up? Are you here to make clothes?" A middle-aged woman of medium build, wearing a dark floral dress, walked out from behind the curtain and greeted Hu Xiao warmly.

Then she turned her gaze to Su Tao, "Wow, this girl is so pretty, is she your friend?" Aunt Liang circled around Su Tao twice. She was really a perfect clothes hanger, with a tall and well-proportioned figure, and her long, shiny black hair casually draped over her shoulders, as soft and smooth as black silk.

Aunt Liang looked at Hu Xiao and Su Tao, both holding fabrics. "Are you here to make clothes? What kind do you want?"

Hu Xiao was in a dilemma. This was the first time she had bought such fine fabric. She had no idea what to make it into.
