Chapter 60: Driving Lesson 1 (2/2)

He Chuan and the other man said in unison: "Zhiyou, come and learn how to drive."

"Driving is not as easy as you think. It requires not only skills but also strength. You can't drive without a strong physique." Zhang Weiye glanced at them and said lightly.

Then he walked up to He Chuan and commented: "You are tall and strong, which basically meets the requirements."

He glanced at Jiang Dashi next to him, shook his head, and said, "As for you... you're too thin. I don't think you can handle driving. You won't even be able to hold the steering wheel steadily."

Jiang Dashi quit after hearing this. Although he was thin, he was not weak. He had been selling grain for several years, carrying grain up and down every day, and he had already built up a muscular body.

Jiang Dashi pulled up his long sleeves and lifted up his shirt, revealing his eight-pack abs.

A hint of surprise flashed in Zhang Weiye's eyes. He hadn't expected that he could be so wrong. This man looked skinny and weak in his clothes, but he actually had a muscular body underneath. He could only relent and said, "Well, then you guys can try it first. Start driving lessons with me tomorrow. If you don't do well, you can leave at any time."

He Chuan and Jiang Dashi looked at each other, their hearts filled with joy, and quickly said, "Hey, hey, okay, we must study hard."

"I'll take you to the dormitory." After Zhang Weiye said this, he did not forget to put the things on the table into the drawer, put his hands behind his back, turned around and walked out.

The dorm was small, with two wooden beds, each one wide, placed on either side of the wall, with a large bed between them. There was a small table by the window for us to share, perfect for toiletries. There was also a small wardrobe nearby. While small, it was perfectly adequate.

"You guys have a good rest. I will come to learn driving with you tomorrow. The toilet and bathroom are at the end of the street outside. They are not close together." Zhang Weiye reminded them before leaving.

After a busy day, the two of them were finally able to settle down. They were not in the mood to hang out outside, so they took out some food from the package and ate it with boiled water.

After eating, Jiang Dashi lay on the bed and fell asleep.

He Chuan, however, could not fall asleep for a long time. He stared at the yellowed sky, but the beautiful face appeared before his eyes.

The next day, He Chuan and his companion followed Master Zhang to the driving practice field. There were five or six dark green Jiefang brand trucks parked there. Of course, there were more than just these trucks in the fleet. The others were driving out on missions, and these were specifically used here to learn how to drive and practice.

Both were very excited. This was their first close encounter with a truck. Trucks were rare in those days, only state-owned enterprises and government agencies had them.

He Chuan and his team were currently assigned to a county transport team under the control of the county government. They were primarily responsible for the transportation and distribution of food supplies, and were occasionally seconded to state-owned factories and mines to transport industrial materials.

Jiang Dashi noticed that the rear wheels of these cars were lifted up, and curiously asked, "How can you drive them like this? They can't run away?"

With a loud slap, Zhang Weiye slapped Jiang Dashitou, puffing his beard and glaring at him, "You haven't even learned how to walk yet, and you want to run?"

Then he led the two to a truck, where Zhang Weiye pulled out an iron rod and inserted it into the front of the truck, demonstrating the technique. Afterward, Zhang Weiye, sweating and panting, said, "This truck requires you to crank the handle repeatedly to start it. Today, you'll take turns practicing this until you can get it started."

Jiang Dashi and He Chuan both watched very seriously, and were eager to try when they heard that they could practice.
