Chapter 77: Road Robbery
He Chuan and Jiang Dashi returned to the car. It was still drizzling. It turned out that the mountain road was blocked by huge rocks and it was temporarily inaccessible. It was unknown how many days it would take for the relevant departments to find people to clear it.
The two of them looked at the map and found a small path next to the mountain road. Unfortunately, it wasn't the official road they usually took. The path was winding and a bit roundabout, and it was much longer than the original mountain road.
"Let's take this path first, otherwise we don't know how many days it will take for the mountain road to be cleared." He Chuan looked down at the map and pondered.
"Okay, let's take this road." Jiang Dashi agreed. The more goods are left outside, the more dangerous it will be.
The car was stuck on a small road in the woods. The road was winding and had many gullies. The trees on both sides were lush and green, and the melodious sound of birds could be heard from time to time.
It was still okay during the day, but the road was particularly difficult to drive at night. In the evening, He Chuan was driving, and it started raining again. Although the rain was not heavy, the light in the forest was dim at night, and they could only rely on the faint moonlight and car headlights to illuminate the road.
The vehicle was driving slowly in the woods, the wipers brushing against the windows. Suddenly, the light shone on a long, thick object in front. Looking closely, it was a broken tree trunk as thick as a person that fell in the middle of the road, blocking the way.
Suddenly, there was a knocking sound on the car window. Jiang Dashi was startled and looked outside. There was a man wearing a straw hat and a raincoat standing outside the car window. The light was dim and his face could not be seen clearly. The man was knocking on the car window, gesturing something in front of the window with his hands, and then pointing at a broken wood in front of him, saying something.
The rain was noisy and Jiang Dashi couldn't hear clearly through the car window, but he probably understood his gestures.
"Brother Chuan, does he want us to help him move the broken wood in front?" Jiang Dashi turned and said to He Chuan.
He Chuan said nothing, his eyes fixed on the broken log in front of him, then he looked around. At night, the forest on both sides was filled with shadows and terrors. There was no village in front and no shop behind, so how could there be anyone here?
He Chuan's night vision was exceptional. He suddenly noticed a figure moving slowly through the woods. Looking in the rearview mirror, he saw a dark figure approaching. Just as he was about to turn around and tell Jiang Dashi something was amiss, he noticed Jiang Dashi had already opened the car door and was about to get out.
He Chuan's heart was about to jump out of his chest. He quickly moved sideways, grabbed the door handle at a faster speed and pushed it outwards with force. After pushing the person outside the door down, he slammed the door shut.
Jiang Dashi was still stunned and didn't understand what He Chuan was doing. "What's wrong?"
"Maybe we encountered some robbery bandits. They are everywhere around us." He Chuan said with a gloomy expression.
"What? Bandits?" He had heard his master talk about this before and he treated it as a story, but he didn't expect that they would actually encounter it.
"What should we do now?" Jiang Dashi was a little panicked.
The bandits came to trick He Chuan and his friends into getting off the car, but when they saw that He Chuan had seen through their plan, they showed their true colors and attacked the car with sticks and stones.
"I can only use high horsepower to rush past the tree." He Chuan calmed himself down, stepped on the accelerator, and rushed past the broken wood in front of him.
"Bang!" A huge crash sound was heard, and a huge bush was bounced up by the impact of the vehicle, hitting the car window and then bounced away.
There was no more obstacle ahead, and the car sped along smoothly. Jiang Dashi looked in the rearview mirror at the figures emerging from the forest one after another and being left behind the car. He kept waving his hands in anger, and he suddenly breathed a sigh of relief.
"It was really thrilling at that time. This time it's all thanks to you, Brother Chuan." Jiang Dashi patted his chest, still a little frightened.
Jiang Dashi looked at He Chuan's calm face, without any panic, and thought to himself: "Big brother is worthy of being the big brother!"
He had no idea that He Chuan just didn't show it on his face, and he breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. It was really thrilling just now. If he had noticed it a step later, or if Jiang Dashi opened the car door and got out, it would have been over.
