The dim afterglow of the setting sun fell on the girl who was running back home, adding a touch of romance to her impatience.
"Zhou Rang, Rang Rang, I'm back." Su Nan opened the gate and shouted twice into the yard, but got no response.
"Look at me, I'm stupid." The yard doors were all locked, how could there be someone inside?
Su Nan was ashamed of his own stupidity. He scratched his forehead, turned around, closed the gate, locked it from the inside, then walked towards the room with his luggage.
Pouring herself a glass of water to moisten her slightly dry throat, Su Nan sighed comfortably. After sitting in the chair for a while, she thought about finding some clothes first, then boiling some hot water and taking a bath.
God knows how she managed to be "honest" with so many people during her time in the art troupe. The big bathhouse was definitely her nightmare.
But there was not even room to pull a piece of cloth to cover it, so she always finished quickly, or went to wash early while others were still rehearsing. While washing, she had to be nervous all the time, watching out for anyone who might suddenly come in.
In short, she didn't have a proper bath this week.
Su Nan stood up and walked towards the closet. As soon as he opened the door, he noticed that there was a large empty space inside. That place was originally used to store Zhou Rang's clothes.
After being stunned for three seconds, Su Nan didn't even have time to close the cabinet door. He hurried to the cabinet beside the bed and opened the drawer. As expected, his relevant documents were missing.
Su Nan looked in several more places, and all the things related to him were gone.
"No."
All kinds of bad guesses flashed through his mind, and Su Nan shook his head vigorously to throw those distracting thoughts out of his mind.
She subconsciously touched the ring on her finger and the watch on her wrist, forced herself to calm down, and then began to search every corner of the room for notes or clues he might have left.
But the result was "nothing", she found nothing.
Su Nan ran out of the room, opened the gate, and ran desperately towards the Agricultural Bureau. When he finally arrived at the gate of the Agricultural Bureau, he was told by the gatekeeper that everyone had gone off work.
Su Nan was holding onto a big tree in front of the Agricultural Bureau, gasping for breath. He felt extremely complicated, as if someone was strangling him and he could hardly breathe.
"Hey, girl, this is a colleague from your boyfriend's department, go ask him." The old man suddenly called Su Nan.
Su Nan turned around and saw a middle-aged man carrying a briefcase walking out of the gate. It was obvious that he had just finished his work and just got off work.
As if grasping a life-saving straw, she hurried over to him and said, "Hello, does Zhou know you? I'm his girlfriend. Is he off work?"
The middle-aged man frowned upon hearing this, and said in a somewhat unhappy tone: "Are you his girlfriend? Comrade Zhou hasn't come to work for more than a week. Don't you know? You have to talk to him. He just started working not long ago, and he asked for half a year's leave. There are big problems with his work attitude."
Originally, a young man came to the department, and he was very happy because he finally had someone to help with the chores he was supposed to do, but who knew that this person was just as effective as not coming.
He asked for leave after only two days of work. This time, he simply took leave for half a year.
What bad luck.
Su Nan no longer cared about what the middle-aged man said afterwards. She just thanked him blankly, turned around and walked towards Wutong Street like a zombie.
Gone, he is gone, why didn’t he say goodbye?
Could it be that something happened suddenly in his family and he didn't have time to tell her?
Thinking of this, Su Nan calmed down a little. Zhou Rang was so nice to her on weekdays, he was definitely not a heartless man who would abandon his wife and children. She believed in his character.
It's okay, she can wait for him. Without his personal explanation, she won't accuse him of anything.
But who would have thought that we would have to wait for several years before seeing each other again? Of course, this is a story for later.
The next day, Su Nan adjusted her mood and went directly to the photo studio to report for work. She temporarily rejected the invitation from the art troupe because there was no news from Zhou Rang yet, and she had to wait for him to come back before considering other things.
But for a whole week, not only did he not show up, there wasn't even a letter or a telegram from Zhou Rang.
Su Nan came out of the post office, holding a small package in her hand. It was sent from Shanghai, but the sender was not Zhou, but her parents.
Now she felt mixed emotions, feeling happy about receiving care from her family, but also having indescribable hope.
"Xiao Su, what's wrong with you recently? You don't eat much for lunch every day and just run outside." Jiang Hongqin looked at Su Nan coming back from outside in a depressed state and couldn't help but ask worriedly.
Hearing this, Su Nan forced himself to cheer up and smiled: "It's okay, I went to pick up the package my family sent. It was supposed to be sent a long time ago, but there has been no news..."
As soon as she finished speaking, Su Nan suddenly lost control of her emotions, squatted down, and the package fell to the ground with a "bang", but it couldn't cover up her crying.
Jiang Hongqin was frightened when she saw this. She didn't know how Su Nan could suddenly break down and cry like this.
"Xiao Su, don't cry. Tell me what's wrong." Jiang Hongqin went forward and hugged Su Nan, patting her back again and again tirelessly, trying to give her some strength.
Su Nan burst into tears, her pale little face full of tears. The moment she was hugged, she cried even harder, just like a traveler who was almost dying of thirst in the desert and came across an oasis. With someone to rely on, she could do whatever she wanted.
Su Nan stretched out his hands and hugged Jiang Hongqin tightly, burying his face in her arms.
Such a loud noise naturally alarmed Master Kong who was developing photos in the darkroom upstairs. He opened the door to check the situation, pondered for a moment, went downstairs to get some paper, closed the door of the photo studio, then went upstairs to the darkroom, leaving all the space to them.
I don't know how long she cried before Su Nan slowly calmed down. Jiang Hongqin quickly handed her a tissue and asked her to wipe the tears from her face.
"Thank you." The voice was undoubtedly hoarse and unpleasant after crying for a long time. Su Nan pursed her lips and wiped the tears and nose on her face with tissue paper.
Noticing that there was a large wet spot on Jiang Hongqin's coat, Su Nan was very embarrassed and used a piece of tissue paper to wipe her shoulders. He said in a deep voice: "I'm sorry, Sister Hongqin, I made your coat dirty. I'll take it home and wash it for you."
Jiang Hongqin waved her hands, not caring much: "No, I'll just rub it a few times when I get home. The key now is you. What happened? This is the first time I've seen you cry so hard."
Hearing this, Su Nan lowered his eyes, grabbed the paper in his hand, and finally shook his head.
Seeing that she didn't want to talk any more, Jiang Hongqin didn't ask any more questions. She just patted Su Nan on the shoulder and comforted her: "If you need my help with anything, just ask. I will definitely help if I can."
"good."
